Agreed. As always, Barkley is capable of the extraordinary when he doesn't have time to think.

Can't have that big brain getting in the way of decision making

Willy should 100% be second choice behind Mendy. Kepa isn't at his level even.

And Wily should have started the season clearly.

It's actually annoyed me more than anything that Kepa played the last two games.

Our midfield is so weak at defending. Barnsley have had 8 good chances here. If Kepa was in goal the game is 2-2 at least.

we have to 10's and one 6 in there..  we need another DM/CM in there to stop the overrun.

the cb ensured the goalie wasnt the last man.

The GK doesn't count for those situations - if you're one-on-one with the GK or past them, it's meant to be interpreted as a 'clear goalscoring opportunity'.

Same reason why Christensen's was a red card even though Kepa may have cleared/covered

Tomori not going to get in ahead of Zouma on tonight's evidence, albeit he is what I call a "lucky" defender in that none of his mistakes typically get punished or lead to goals.

CHO needs to show more in the second half. He looks like he is trying too hard to me.

Havertz and Silva look like they are going to be great. Especially Havertz.

Barkley and Tammy also very good that half. Dave off the pace a bit (think James might get some minutes tonight). Emerson his usual "meh" nothingness at left back.

Will done Willy Cab as well - some good saves.

That wasn't a red. They had a defender on the line covering. Regardless, stupid tackle from their goalkeeper.

We had a goalkeeper covering at the weekend against Liverpool, but Christensen was still sent off. If the goalkeeper doesn't hit Abraham, then Abraham has a shot on goal. So he's denied a goal scoring opportunity and should be sent off.

We're in lead and that's good, I'm very impressed with Abraham's performance so far, I think he's our best player. He's showing an improvement in his work rate to defend, he was aggressive in his goal, reacted quickly with a clinical finish.

Havertz is looking much better when he's playing in center, took well his goal and I still looking more from his quality.

Our defense is easily broken, but I think that defending lineup is playing for the first time. Azpilicueta isn't at his best, Tomori in few moments very shake in his decision, Thiago Silva beside his crucial mistake he looked good.

Willy with a good performance, saving us from conceding.

CHO is just showing why Lampard doesn't play him, I'm surprised to see that kind of performance by him, he can do much better. If he won't raise his head up and keep hard working on the pitch, he won't be playing for a long time.

2-0 is not enough, I want more football. COME ON CHELS!

Mount has been terrible. CHO has been terrible but he’s giving us width at least.

We have a goalkeeper in goal who actually makes saves. Wtf.

Emerson has been positive, as has Barkley and Kai.

Feels like we need a "Rice" that can sit between midfield and defence. Far too open defensively.

I completely forgot about Mason, yeah he's been really anonymous tonight.

I'm kind of hoping that Baxter being in the #31 shirt tonight means that Mendy is #1, Wiillie #2 and Baxter #3, and Kepa is going on loan LOL

How has mount been terrible?

To be fair, Christensen was booked originally as well until the referee looked at it again.

Not quite sure what people were expecting from CHO, a world class performance? The kids barely played of late and his confidence will be shot. Looks like he’s not sure whether to play it safe or try and impress and ends up caught somewhere in the middle. He needs a run of game to get some form and confidence back.

I agree with you, but still you have to look on the basics and he failed in this half. Losing ball too many times, I think his miss at the beginning got him down mentally as well.

When you do the simple things it's much better and gives you much more confidence than trying hard.

Let's hope for a better second half from him.

Havertz is pure class, shouldve easily had 2 assists.

Conceded a few chances, mostly from sloppy passing, and Cabellero's poor distribution, but he has made some decent saves.

Abraham and Tomori looking sharp.

Thiago oozes class aswell.

The rest are still finding that match sharpness, CHO in particular looks way off the pace, and really needs the minutes.

Decent game tbh, i dont think i have ever seen a Barnsley team actually play football, usually sh*t kickers, so its a decent watch.

Yeah,

I can see why lamps is after him or another DM. We need someone in midfield to protect the back we are too open.

I just think we need to keep the ball better tbh.

Still shaky in defense. We need to learn how to control a game after we take the lead asap.

when teams come at us, we look like we're on the verge of a nervous breakdown - hopefully that'll settle in a few weeks
