I thought it was more about Dortmund, They wanted loads and man city have waited kept tabs and are now frontrunners as we are in no mans land etc

A while back Haaland did an interview talking about where he saw his next career move being. He did not name Chelsea but named a few sides. He also referenced us later as being at the same level as dortmund and wanting every move he makes to be a step up.

urgh, I must have missed this because chelsea bid for him and got rebuttled so they went for lukaku but if he really actually binned us off and said were the uk dortmund then you can fogive that it just stings because not only is it a big loss for us but its also a huge win for city, like titsomi or whatever his name if he goes to the bin diving mob!

Need to hit up transfer market soon and look at our options, We have some good prospects but crying out for some jazz in the squad

All the scouts do is line up the tuna's, Its the suits who decide which to buy,Interesting times ahead

He made it clear he did not see us as a big club and had no interest in considering us. He was a none starter for us.

I would not be surprised if he spends the next 4 to 7 years at City before moving on to Real or Barca.

Interesting he thinks City is a big club but not us.  Pep regularly benched Aguero one of the best strikers the premier league has ever seen.  Wonder if Haaland will see the same treatment and how will he deal with it.

While we did win the CL AFTER he made those comments I believe, I think is the fact City have won 3 of the last 4 titles.

Huge pay packet does not hurt, nor does the fact his dad played for them and as a boy he had City stuff, and lastly them not being the final step of his well laid out career plans.

The more we live in Man-City’s shadow the more I really start to think what could have been under Roman, City are doing it all bigger and better, philosophy wise, planning wise, you name it. When they’ve finally got their hands on the UCL we can’t really say much. Just hope under Boehly we can ‘do a Liverpool’, because nobody can compete with the state owned clubs on this level.

I think this is unfair on what we achieved under Abramovich. When it comes to money, City are on a whole different level. Abramovich put us in a position where we could compete, but we couldn't go and spend hundreds of millions on duds and go and spend another £100m the following season, City have done this multiple times, especially under Guardiola. The guy has bought a whole new defence multiple times at this point and he's only been there 6 years. Another thing worth mentioning is how much FFP is effecting every club financially. City and PSG are finding a way around it whilst every other club has to sell before they go and spend massive on a single player.

I dont think he will be as good as he was/is for Dortmund.  Honestly.

And yes, I'd still take Salah over him

How the f**k can any player in the modern era think City are a big club and not Chelsea.  He must have as many brain cells as City have CL's

We were in the CL when City were battling in the first division as it was back then

Like how many professed that lukaku was the man for us?!

Even costa played however to score goals, Its a debunked theory and belongs on football manager not irl

For every player you name that 'can play in any system', another player can quite easily be names that can't.

It isn't a debunked theory as you so confidently put.

Exactly, if you're old skool and think that the likes of Real, AC Milan, and Man Utd are big clubs then you can't think City are and Chelsea aren't.   I do forgot this lad is only 21 and would only be 7 or 8 when the City take over took place, but even then Chelsea where one of the most dominant teams in Europe at that point.  I guess if you paid me enough I would swear Stevenage was a big club.

Not sure why this bugged me, I don't usually bother with this big club bollocks.  Anyway hope he flops or that's the league sewn up for a few years.

Haaland just does not strike me as a Pep/City type player. He plays on the shoulder of the last defender and that is not the way of City. Kane, would have been the perfect fit for City and I could have seen him being a massive success at the Emptihad.

I have a sneaking feeling that we may well have a nibble at Kane 😉

Believe it or not, there were Chelsea fans who wanted City to beat Real Madrid, as they felt they’d have more chance against Liverpool in the final. The same Liverpool who already have a pile of CL trophies, so it doesn’t really mean anything if it’s one more for the pile. Absolute cuck-Chelsea ‘fans’ shameful stuff.

I believe that's mostly the Pep effect and their consistency in the league. Players want to play for his sides, they believe he'll make them better and definitely give them a chance to a title, which is not that far from reality, if things go right with said player. If not it usually leads to bitterness like in the cases of Ibrahimovic and Eto.

Also, everyone knows he won't sign for a "mid-tier" club. I can't see him going Don Carlo route and ever accepting to manage a side like Everton (without any takeovers) for example, so that already puts any club he manages into that top ladder, regardless of whether the club itself has earned it or not.

No my point is youre putting far too much coin into the belief that striker problems or a striker not performing and or not scoring is purely a tactical problem, It's not.

Good strikers will find the goals no matter how the team plays, Ronaldo has done this season for instance, Solid performer even if the teams naff hes still finding net time and time again

There is possibly the exception with the odd player like Messi but whos to say he wouldn't of been that good anywhere else as he only moved in his sunset etc, If we had a prime messi and people wanted to build the whole team around him you wouldn't hear zip from me!

Still doesn't change the fact he's not the type of striker to operate in tight areas and he's going to have to adapt to playing against packed defences. I don't think he'll flop by any means but i don't think he elevates City to another level either. To me, City are no more of a threat with Haaland than they currently are with what they have available.

On the contrary I think he will make them better. He does need to be briliant in tight spaces, all he need to do is to be brilliant in the box.

He will offer direct threat something that city never had. Now they can play their pass to death football but at the same time play faster and more direct when they want to.

I think a lot people try to use our failure with Lukaku as example. If I write why n what, it will be very long. Let's just say city has proven that they can play with a st who is not exactly known for his link up play and this city team hasn't always play this slow.

As an honest fan, our days of being a top PL team are done for quite considerable time; if Haaland does hit the ground running in that City team and they keep hold of Pep, we will be constantly chewing for top four every year until otherwise.

The most painful thing about supporting a club like Chelsea is that you expect to be winning; which is such a detriment to enjoyment of football. I will sooner be following my beloved Newport County next season that Chels; the arrogance of supporting this team has led to an unhealthy arrogance to be unsatisfied with anything less than us winning stuff. Top tier football has been boring in England for years now; this will just cement it for another five seasons.

Fair point,  we have been spoiled by winning so much.

Price purely based on his release clause, which is shockingly low for some reason (maybe that was the agreement in joining Dortmund in that his fee isn't astronomical).

Chelsea really need to pull the rabbit out of the bag in the transfer market this summer to keep up with City now they will have Haaland, we can only hope he's some how a flop, although nearly every player they buy seems to come off a relative success.

£97M on lukaku, Its almost criminal tbh holy sh1t!

Chelsea were desperate, DESPERATE. They had been rejected by Haaland and his team behind the scenes; BVB would have taken the money we were offering knowing they’d lose him for this much this year. As a result of the rejection; we honed in on Lukaku in the belief he really was the mustard and ready to fire us to a title challenge; so we spunk 100mil on him. For him to turn out to be as bad as he was when he left England. Then you add all the other expensive flops to the list: Havertz; Werner; Ziyech… Chelsea football club probably just recruit from fancy YouTube compilations or whatever Twitter seem to think is best for them; not on science and data. Then again, Chelsea have been so shambolically run in regards to long term projects that it’s f**king impossible for Chelsea to sign the right talent as who the f**k knows will be in charge in 12 months with yet another ‘philosophy’.

Support your local team mate, trust me when I say it will do you the world of good. Not letting £1billion corporations ruin your Saturday when XI overpaid pretty boys scrap it out over who’s got the biggest salary.

Wouldn't be right or fun to buy a Fulham ticket after supporting chelsea for 20yrs and just like most walks of life everyone's scrapping over the biggest pay packet

Havertz isnt a flop IMO

I would like to see the source/article which states haaland personally rejected us, I thought he was a chelsea fan like Declan rice and ive done a bit of searching to no avail, Sounds like agents to me, £80M is a huge drop, I wouldnt be suprised if due to the sale we dropped out on all our targets and our rivals are scooping them up!

Horse has bolted the main worry is we need to do some serious biz this summer and two shiny's look to have been robbed out the pack!

Interesting- didn’t realise his injury record is so bad. Never played more than 28 games in a season. I’m sure PL teams will have fun with that.

Also, my money is on him leaving for a Real Madrid in a few years.
