May 10, 20224 yr I remember the days where we were all dancing with joy, Ties on heads thinking now we've won the CL we can now get any player we want skip forward 10yrs and here we are!
May 10, 20224 yr It's f**king incredible that City got Halaand for only 51 mill. That's nearly 6 mill less than what we paid for Jorginho and Pulisic, 20 mill less than what we paid for Kepa and Havertz, nearly half of what we paid for Lukaku. City are becoming wiser and more shrewd in their business with each passing season while our management is plumbing new depths of incompetency. Edited May 10, 20224 yr by Nick05

City have paid the 21-year-old's release clause and expect to pay £85.5m in total when agent fees, signing bonus and other costs are taken into account.

In reality the fee will be closer to lukakus and the wages will dwarf everyone at our club. They aren't being shrewd. They are the richest club in the league and they can get the most expensive players. We can't. Edited May 10, 20224 yr by bisright1

City are becoming wiser and more shrewd in their business with each passing season while our management is plumbing new depths of incompetency. Whilst the actual fee to be paid to Dortmund is only £51m as it was pre-determined by the release clause, the ACTUAL total is much higher than that. £10m signing on fee, £10m fee to Raiola's heirs, and the Annual salary of £65m over 5 years, and as yet unknown bonuses and image rights payments, makes it around £150m, but you would probably argue (correctly) that over 5 years, this is still one hell of a deal if he gets 20+ goals every season. In terms of our Board's performance in the market, I think they do ok, excluding of course, overpaying for Kepa, Lukaku and Werner. Roman has not really been interested since the visa row 2-3 years ago, and the FFP ban changed our whole approach to the market. Still not sure how City comply every season with FFP (brown envelopes I suspect)

It also won't be true or will be bumped by endorsement deals from middle eastern groups. Man city make the most commercial revenue of any english club. Despite being leagues behind others in terms of global fan base. They fudge the figures to allow them to evade FFP rules. Haaland is not going to city to be paid less than we pay Lukaku.

Is @Argo a Chelsea scout now?

Problem is it’s not even a real company, just like their partnership with Wega which has no staff and run from a postbox in London somewhere. Looks like it’s free Etihad flights, Abu Dhabi holidays and Nexen tires for Haaland then.

It's a fair concern, based on what we have seen of Pulisic, Werner, Havertz and Sancho in the PL vs the numbers they were putting up in the Bundesliga ... Edited May 12, 20224 yr by Sexyfootball

Yup, he seems too good to fail but who knows. One of the reasons I'd love to see us sign Mbappe is because knowing us he'd probably flop and that would be quite funny

May 12, 20224 yr According to The Athletic he was signed by City’s Sporting Director, and Pep had to be convinced of the signing. Will be interesting to see how this plays out going forward. Pep has never liked using a target man. Didn’t he bin Zlatan after one season? Lewandowski is the only one I think that he has worked well with, and he was also a club signing. Only difference is/was he is a more complete forward, he can drop deep and link up play. Halaand is atrocious in this respect, and can’t play with his back to goal. Won’t be surprised but will be interesting to see him drop him and see how he reacts. Think he has benched Grealish for all their big games despite being their record signing.
