We're still playing well all things considered, Kante playing really well, so is Mount I think. Kovacic needs to do more though, he's been quite sloppy for his standards, needs to take more risks and look to always getting the ball to James on the overlap. 

It's clear as day it's James and Ziyech that make things happen, get the ball to those two. If Tammy is still playing at the same pace 2nd half take him off for Giroud. 

I don't understand why we drop the tempo so much towards the end of the half. Why does Mendy have to pass longballs up to midfield, when there is 2-3 Newcastle players pressing our defence? We should be abel to play out from the back all the time against this Newcastle team sitting deep, more movement and tempo from our defence next half.

Pulisic would be very handy today. He is willing to take on his man and win.

He’s the centre forward. What do you want him doing? Charging back in to our penalty box to make slide tackles? The poor pass he made resulted in the ball going about 20 yards behind him straight to the Newcastle player who started running at the defence. He was never going to get back to contribute anything in that situation. (If that’s the one you’re referring to, apologies if not!)

 

It’s also the reaction to both. Look at all the comments about Tammy at HT & compare it to ones about Timo. You’ll see the vast difference.

Newcastle looks like another relegation team they are so bad, can't even bother to pressure our players after first 5 minutes even if most of our player had travelled a whole lot in the past week
