Chelsea v Spuds (PL) Sun 29th Nov 2020 16:30 GMT

Giroud couldn’t get a starting spot at Arsenal. He is a fantastic bench option but not a regular starter.
Spurs have the best defence in the league and played unambitiosly today.
‘Werner needs a rest, not physically but mentally.
I am hopeful havertz will provide the magic.
‘we are still improving, if you draw a line through Liverpool, United and spuds we have looked better each time.
‘I’d certainly only be -playing Pulisic in short spells for the time being.

I think we saw again that we are perhaps still a little horse as far as the title race is concerned. Still positive signs. A clean sheet against a good team is nothing to sneeze at.

Haha, I'm on my Fourth today, 3rd of the match, as the second half gets on I will make less and less sense ?, where is @Valerie? Doesn't seem to be here to tell you off if you have another couple

New router, new wifi problems  The technician is coming today, so my problems will probably increase.

And for the record: @Munkworth can drink all he wants, nobody will be able to tell the difference . Some people here have seen me drink all I want :blush2:

We are contenders if we beat Spurs, a draw doesn't do much good when comes to title chasing. Having played the so called big 3 teams, we got 2 points out of 9, that's NOT title chasing form. We must beat Arsenal ( not really a top 6 team right now), City, Everton etc in the games coming up to be considered genuine title chasers. We are making solid progress in terms of beating teams we should beat, but to be honest we haven't beat any serious teams yet.

Poor finishing in the end cost us. Tammy had 2 good chances with his head and didn't hit the target with either, barely connected with either in fact. Giroud at the end needed to show more composure. On another day we could have won that 2-0.

I guess I should be pleasantly surprised, the postmatch comments are mostly reasonable and posters tend to concentrate on positives, like keeping a clean sheet, etc. but somehow I'm not happy at all. I guess I should manage my expectations.

We were at home, had a full squad available and enough time to rest and prepare for the game. We should have found  a way to win the match and get three points, and we didn't. Frank needed to make a statement against a quality side and failed, not for the first time. Front three had a stinker and subs came much too late. Jose got what he came for, as for us, that draw felt almost like loss.

Leicester didn't beat a top 7 team (the 7 top clubs from previous season) until Dec 14th (Leic 2 Chelsea 1) when they won the league.

We are 3rd 2 points off the top, we've just ticked a game off against a title rival, we still havent hit top gear and the players are still gelling & finally we have a deeper squad then most of our rivals.

You better believe we are in a title race.

Two of our most coveted players are only just back on the scene, your assessment completely ignores that.

So? Spurs had their starting CB out (Alderweireld) and two less days to prepare. It was a perfect situation for us to take advantage of and we didn't.

You didnt know spuds played their 2nd team in the week ? they actually had 48hours advantage over us.

OK, my fault, I didn't realize they rested their starters midweek, but the point about us dropping two points and them earning one remains. We should have won the match.

I agree with everything you said except that GIROUD IS A FANTASTIC BENCH OPTION BUT NOT A REGULAT STARTER

He started for France and helped them win the world cup. He was also our starting striker post lockdown and scored the goals to help us get 4th position. As of today Giroud has scored in his last 5 league starts for Chelsea but unfortunately this season Lamps has gone back to benching him for Abraham. Its a shame that we have had 10 league games and Giroud hasnt started one.

Just ask yourself this Question , If Tammy was French would he be starting over Giroud in the national team? Tammy has a lot of potential but as of Today Giroud is the better striker.

Fair enough if you think that knowing all the facts, but i think that's a very negative viewpoint.

I think yesterday highlighted how the first 11 is still not completely in sync as yet, against inferior opponents we can put together silky patterns of play but a Mourinho side will test you and if you are not completely integrated in your style of play you will be found out.

Spurs have a settled first 11 and therefore have a higher conversion rate to us, this was the biggest difference between the teams however we still seemed to dominate them especially in the 2nd half.

Spurs set out with one aim in mind and achieved it, with the help of some sloppy finishing from us.

Some of the nonsense earlier in the thread makes we wonder if the term "supporter" is really appropriate for many posters. Maybe "consumer" would be a better term.

I didn't miss it, I just wasn't here to post how we should be more expansive and use the reconquista role better ?

Exactly - how is Frank suppose to know what to do!

yes, titles are won in 'little' games, most of the time. we are only 2 points behind, new squad, and December/January madnees is just about to kick off. so, fingers crossed. it's been a nut season so far.

Reguillon is now on my hate list for the Spuds. He was constantly faking fouls. He also ran away from Kovacic after blatantly fouling him on a run. He needs to be taught a lesson to knock that sh*t off.

Unfortunately we see this a lot in the laliga.. the Arsenal c**t Ceballos aint any better.. but Reguillian was quite blatant the other night.. i think he literally head butted Reece's arm and got him a yellow card.. the english refs need to be smarter.. Morata really got fund out in this area.. he would literally go down on every touch but hardly got a foul that would have been mostly likely called in the spanish league..

We better than anyone else should know how effectively Mourinho (and well drilled defensive teams in general) can park the bus. That's what we did for years, shut out amazing attacking forces. So I'm not shocked at all that our young team could not find a way past... on another day we might have won but this was a very likely scenario even if we played well (which we did).
