December 28, 20205 yr My god we are boring to watch. We have nothing. We really can't even pass the ball around the pitch now, unless it is going backwards or sideways at a really slow pace. What on earth do they work on in training. I can't even figure out the system anymore. The only pattern I can see is look busy, get it wide, hit hopeful cross, cleared by 6 defenders. Repeat. Giroud's goal against Wolves and today were quite similar in that regard. Against Arsenal it was also a cross. Where the hell are the goals from open play running through or going directly at them. I'm disgusted with what we have become. Honestly, that is disgraceful.
December 28, 20205 yr Does anyone feel that mount would be better deployed next to Kante in front of the back four? This should surely provide enough energy and enable Havertz a luxury role in front of them and supporting a front three of Werner in the centre and two wide men permed from Callum, Pulisic and Ziyech. I personally feel that both Giroud and Tammy have a role to play at the club but neither give us enough to be starting regularly. Anyone any thoughts?

Tammy is at least scoring so why he didn’t come on I don’t know. You ask someone like @coco or @Mod Stark politely and then donate £20 to the forum. @Gol15 has a PowerPoint presentation with lots of stats, graphs and pie charts... Not pies again FFS, i haven't has a decent one since Ayresome park back in the 90s

Why take him off for a player who is clearly out of form. Maybe if we get another 2 goals then maybe give Havertz and Werner some game time. I did not say Mount was having a bad game just that i wanted to see the difference between those two.

I think that is what happened once Jorginho went off, we switched to a 4-2-3-1 with Kai behind Werner and Mount dropped deep to help the defense play out. I think it can work but the impact on the team would be that we will lose a lot of pressing higher up the pitch with Kante and Mount both playing a deeper role.

I hear you Imran but both Werner and CHO are capable of pressing, and lets face it, it should'nt be too much of an ask for Havertz and Ziyech given the money they're on.

We only look good when teams allow us to play...when we play those that don't we are stifled and produce hardly anything...who have we beat of note this season that's above us in the table? ...No One...
December 29, 20205 yr Think the only way Mount and Kante can coexist on the pitch is together as the 2 in a 4-2-3-1. Mount passes well from deep but is lost in the attacking third... runs too much into others space. If Mount were meant to be a better version of Matic... I could see that. We just send too many men to the the corners in the attacking third.
December 29, 20205 yr Not as upset with this one as the previous 3. Villa are a good side who defend well as a team. Still far more upset at the 7 points prior that we dropped because of dopey giving away a pen at Everton, our giving away 3 points leading at Wolves and us not showing up at Arsenal. Had we done our jobs properly in these games we would be top after this draw. Think about that, was not a hard ask.
December 29, 20205 yr The usual service resumed ( for a while now), unable to create chances against deep defence unit, not taking chances, and individuals costing games. Even the corners looked harmless without Zouma and Silva. Only positive is Pullisic is getting better, and looked pretty fit. Not sure where to go from here, Ziycech coming back would be big, but he's been out for a while and can't expect instant firework. Who's the starting striker now, what to do with Havetz, what's the best midfield combination? We are pretty much where we were at the start of the season.
December 29, 20205 yr Worth pointing out as well that Pulisic has to be scoring the chance Grealish played him in for and Mendy's "effort" to save their goal was something even Kepa would be embarrassed by. Yes Christensen could and should be up sooner but that does not excuse that terrible piece of goalkeeping. Mendy was saving us points now he is costing us them. Whisper this quietly but with Kepa in goal today we win...

December 29, 20205 yr First post guys so take it easy with me . Has anyone noticed how rubbish we have been since Pulisic came back ? Yeah he runs at teams when he gets the ball but he also loses it a hell of a lot . His hold up play is non existent and seems to be doing the same thing every time and looks to of been figured out in the premier league . It’s almost like we are only playing him for the American tv audiences . We seem to be too small and get overpowered really easily and our play out from our own defense is woefully slow . I know zouma didn’t play today but every time I watch him he looks like he struggles to kick a ball .
December 29, 20205 yr I felt somewhat positive after that game. I was sure we were going to win before the game but seeing the lineup before the match I felt we are going to struggle. We didn't struggle and had the chances to win it. Villa is a good side, better than us atm. Frank had to rotate but I would have rotated more. Gilmour in and Havertz at number 10. I feel Frank wants to play Mount in his favourable spot so he won't try 4-2-3-1. Makes sense but I think Kai will have a tough season ahead of him. We need someone who can create goals to be instilled in the side. Mount is not taking his chances although overall he is playing well and sort of a backbone of the side.
