May 27, 20224 yr Fair play to Sevilla if they want to play hard ball. Of course, it sucks for us, but if I was them and their fans, they should be doing all they can to rinse us out of as much as possible. They upped their price last season when we sold Kurt, and our need is significantly greater now than it was then, so they must be able to sense our desperation. Fair play also to Villa for moving quickly. It would have been much harder for them to sign Carlos if we had already signed Kounde - so by them moving fast, they have mitigated that, and made things harder for us at the same time. Good business, and 3 decent players all signed early on in the window. I tip my hat to that. I dont want Kounde for 80 mill. I prob dont even want us to drop 60m on him. That is big bucks for a player that isnt that imposing for a CB, and isnt really tested at the highest level.
June 3, 20224 yr All gone abit quiet on this one hasn’t it? There were reports that Sevilla were negotiating for a defender so the 2 deals are probably linked.

Back in Roman's early days sure we paid whatever the seller wanted right away, bar Lyon with Essien lol, but now we are business not a hobby. Sevilla need to agree to a more sensible deal or we will have to look elsewhere. Kounde has 2 years left and clearly does not want to stay there. They keep him they keep an unhappy player who won't sign a new deal and they have to sell for 30mill next summer or risk him leaving on a free. Edited June 3, 20224 yr by axman2526
June 4, 20224 yr Thr latest update is the same, supposedly we have a €60-65m offer on the table his release clause is still €80m. From the sounds of things everyone around the deal is optimistic it will go through. Chelsea will pay release clause if Sevilla play hardball, but the hope is to get him for around £50m and then include add ons, I suspect £55m will be the magic number. Remember no rush for announcements, window doesn't officially open to register players for the fifa transfer system in England until the 10th June. Closer to that time or after I expect to hear some major developments.
June 8, 20224 yr Woke up to a notification that we signed a french defender. Thought maybe Chelsea did some clandestine type stuff overnight and signed Kounde finally. Alas, twas but a signing for the womens team

June 9, 20224 yr We are really slow at transfers compared to other clubs. Other clubs can literally go from the first rumour to finalizing the deal in just a few days, whereas we take forever. It has been a year now with this guy! This needs to change, it doesn't who the owners are or how much money we have if we don't change this approach then closing the gap on City & Liverpool will be even harder. When we got Fabregas & Costa in early and in time for pre-season we won the league - it's not a coincidence. Smart transfers and getting them in early enough to gel with the team, (including any pre-season trips) clearly gives you a better chance of any success. Even the Lukaku deal wasn't done in time for the start of the season - his debut was against Arsenal. It might of made a difference with him, or maybe it wouldn't of, we'll never know now, but dragging our feet all summer and then buying players at the end of transfer and expecting them to hit ground running with zero time to even get used to thier new teamates is just setting us up for failure.

We signed Morata over rom because we were outbid by united.

It’s true that a lot of transfers over the past years have seemed slow to develop. At the same time, there’s always been some sh*t we’ve been dealing with. Managerial changes, World Cups, obviously this year with the sale of the club. But agreed, there’s been some years things take forever - I don’t think it’s Chelsea dragging their feet though. More likely, we’ve just refused to move forward unless we get the deal wanted and it seems like that drags out negotiations longer than other clubs do.
June 9, 20224 yr Update from Fabrizo Ramano: Jules Koundé deal, still priority for Chelsea. Tuchel wants him. Talks are well advanced on player side, while Sevilla are still waiting to receive the opening bid for the French centre back. 🔵 #CFC Price tag will be around €65m, less than €80m release clause.
June 9, 20224 yr TRUE✅ @ChelseaFC have on their list for new defenders: Presnel Kimpembe @PSG_inside Matthijs de Ligt @juventusfc and Jules Koundé @SevillaFC Offensive: Thomas Tuchel would also like to work with striker Gabriel Jesus @ManCity @christianfalk

June 9, 20224 yr The latest is that everyone around the deal expects it to get done. €65m should be enough and the deal should be completed by the end of the month. Remember guys the window doesn't open until tomorrow (10/06) I expect us to move quickly for targets once official window is open. Todd strikes me as the kind of guy that doesn't waste time. Once the window is open rather than hearing all this monitoring bs we may see deals come through left and right. They know how important it is for TT to have his players as early as possible for pre season to let them gel.
June 9, 20224 yr Sure deal will get done, but that Romano quote almost identical to last year about this time.

At the time that the sanctions were imposed Emma Hayes spoke about how they might affect 'any' transfers which 'could' already have been agreed but not completed. She talked as if this was just a hypothetical situation but there was always a feeling that she had something specific in mind. Maybe Eve Perisset's transfer was announced so quickly because she was out of contract and the deal was agreed some time ago, ready for when the sanctions were lifted. By the way, another deal, for out of contract Kadeisha Buchanan, is very convincingly rumoured to have been agreed pre sanctions. It could be that the women confirm a second signing before the men announce their first. Edited June 10, 20224 yr by OhForAGreavsie
