No chance of completing this or any other transfer with Marina in charge.

Boehly not sacking Marina like he should have the day he took over the club has set us back years (A bit like the rest of Marina's tenure)

I bet you were thrilled to learn that she pocketed £20 million as her cut of the sales process to Boehly !

Given how horrifically bad she is at negotiating fees for pretty much every signing we've made under her tenure and the ridiculously inflated contracts she offers players meaning we can't get them off the books I'm convinced she gets a kick back off every club or player she negotiates with.

It is abit frustrating, Kounde is one of the biggest upcoming defensive talents in Europe and we were in talks with Sevilla a year ago.

We had about a year to sort this out and we still couldn’t do it, while Barcelona can swoop in just like that. I find it pretty odd Sevilla made life very difficult for us, I thought they would have preferred to sell abroad.

She is so bad at her job & somehow she was named Best Club Director in European  football last summer. Roman is gone now, Marina is the scape goat.

Sevilla wanted this done with us last year, they were literally desperate for it to happen by their deadline prior to the season.

Barca don't have the hurdle or liability that is Marina though,  they'll sign Kounde before we manage to make an offer.

Then we'll sign Christensen back off them for 100m.

The Marina Masterclass.

She was named best club director out of sympathy and pity.

As stated previously she's like the special needs kid at the school sports day that finally manages to flop over the line 3 minutes after the other kids but all the parents clap and cheer as they stand on the podium while all the cognitively functional kids are already enjoying the ice cream of victory.

I'd assume all the other directors love her after they fleece her so regularly, the Dortmund director getting 60m for a bench warmer who wasn't good enough for them, Leicester getting 30m for Drinkwater, Monaco getting 45 for Bakayoko,  AC Milan getting an Option to buy on Tomori for a ridiculously low price meaning if he flopped we were stuck with him, if he performed they got him on the cheap.

The clubs picking up our centre backs on frees this summer after Marina stopped negotiating with Rudiger for no reason and watched us go into the season with all 4 of our centre backs out of contract at the end of the year. Rudiger himself stating that was the reason he started talking to other clubs.  The agents of all our players collecting 100K more than they could have earned at any other club. there's no shortage of people who would vote Marina as best director she's been great for 19 clubs in the premier league.

If Tuchel actually wants him, and we mess this up, that is pretty embarrassing. Barcelona have serious financial problems though so im not convinced they have the money to fund this.

Season starts early this year, looks like we will have signings with no preseason with the team again.

Hopefully this is the last season of operating like this, its no wonder we rarely have signings that hit the ground running. We spend most of summer trying to sell and loan out unwanted players, fixing past mistakes. By the time players come in, it is 2 fixtures a week all season.

In ‘advanced’ talks now with Barcelona, lot of reports and sources. It is known that Marina actually plans to leave the club at the end of the transfer window, so I doubt her heart is in it now, just completely checked out as demonstrated nicely here..

If he ends up at Barcelona after all of this time, then that is massive failure. We are mid way through June now, 2 CB's down and look set to be losing out on our top target. I know some people don't like to hear it, but Marina is proving to be a major hindrance to the club. She is taking way too long to get deals done because she is such a tough negotiator and leaving things open for other teams to come in and take them.

We are in this desperate position because she failed to act and get Rudiger and Christensen signed after we won the Champions League. Now she is f**king about again and we are now at risk of losing out on our top summer target. I am already seeing some people use the ownership excuse to defend the position we are in, but I don't buy it. This has been a problem that has stretched back years.

Are you ready for it, here is a spoiler.

BOOM here we go!

Barca agree new 3 year deal with #dembele and 5 year contract with #julesKounde, announcements shortly.

Is this the same club who cannot afford to sign Christensen for free?

Agree that the club knew the centre-back situation at the start of the season and did nothing in response. This is a self-created mess. We'd been truly f**ked had Silva also decided to leave. Our aspirations are not congruent with the way we do our transfer business. This is a a crucial season to send a statement of intent with the change of ownership. Instead we are seeing the good players slip out of our grasp. There is still time but the quality of players available is reducing literally with every passing day. Just hope that now we dont lump a 120 mill on likes of declan rice in desperation.

Seems odd if that is the case. Not so much on Kounde's part but I thought Barca were broke?

Barca's debt figure has risen to 1.35 billion euros so how in the hell can they be allowed to sign anyone? (and they are keen to hold on to Dembele too)

Yet more proof that Financial Fair Play only applies if you are Chelsea or Manchester City.

And want Raphina, Lewandowski, Kounde, Alonso.. LOL.

Barca are apparently poised to restructure their debt, which will allow them longer to pay it off - keep in mind they are still one the biggest revenue earning teams in the world. It’s not like some league 1 team over here going into administration. Somebody will offer them the chance to pay it off over a longer period with interest of course added on.

Barcelona know their status. Their value is massive even without Messi. Someone will always save them. To think any other scenario you will be wrong.

If their debt is 5 billion they can always bring in players with 100-200 per season.

The Barcelona rumour is either true or has been circulated to hurry us up so they can use the money to get a replacement in.

Either way this is a shambles by us, it’s been a year now!

Like others have said the takeover is not an excuse for slow transfers, a serious club would either line up stuff or work faster when the takeover is officially complete.

We have the same board as before so the negotiation tactics will be the same as the last 19 years, unless Todd Boehly phones Marina and literally says “stop pi**ing about and get the bloody deal done”

Our approach to transfers is terrible and despite the defence that “transfers take time” that is sometimes said, we see time and time again where there is a will there is a way.

Liverpool went from not knowing for sure whether Mane wanted to leave to getting in an expensive replacement in a couple of weeks.

It can be done!

Unless Todd puts in that phone call to Marina to stop her dragging her feet and buying someone In August meaning they will probably miss pre-season with us and any chance to gel with the team before the season starts then nothing will change.

The new era won’t truly start until we have a new board with new transfer tactics.

The rate they are going they will end up being owned by a bank very soon. Asking players already at the club to defer payment so they can sign new ones isn’t sustainable. They owe Pique €45m, and they are hoping he leaves this season so they don’t end up on the hook for another €40m for the last 2yrs of his contract. Who the hell gives a 35yr old a €400k/w contract? They are also owing Messi €52m in wages.
Any player signing for Barca presently needs their head examined.

Why are you blaming Marina or think it's her fault? Its possible Todd Boehly is the problem and either hasn't made the funds available or giving the go ahead for transfers. Without knowing the full facts let's stop scapegoating one person and blame them all especially the guy on top!

Our transfers has been a shambles for years so it’s something to do with how we operate as a club so it’s unlikely to be the new guy’s fault when this is something we’ve done in previous years.

I saw Kounde play 5 or 6 times for Sevilla last year He seemed disinterested at times and made a lot of mistakes similar to Malang Sarr. I think Chelsea would be better served moving on from him, especially after his surgery which will keep him out of the preseason.

Transfer update for anyone concerned about this deal falling through I will reiterate Kounde wants CFC, very unlikely after waiting a year his desire has diminished. For those talking about what they saw of him this season and him not looking as interesting or making a few mistakes. Remember most players who are denied their dream move drop their level the following season psychology plays a big part in football.

Don't be concerned guys, unreliable sources will say just about anything during the transfer window. Deals take time as of today according to my most trusted source Kounde remains set for Chelsea, whilst we are in continued talks with Sevilla. Fee shouldn't take too much longer now that he has undergone successfully surgery.

Imo we were waiting for him to undergo it before commiting such a significant transfer fee. Please remain patient and trust the process
