Midfield not protecting the back 3 - when you have Kante / Kovacic missing so is the protection....best they come back sooner rather than later.

Don't normally give a player MOTM based on penalties but I'm going to give it to Jorginho. He held his composure for both goals in both crucial moments and delivered as usual.

The drop in performances is more of a mental issue than an injury issue for me. We cannot fold like we have been just because two regular starters are injured, it's not good enough. Everybody's level has dropped, the passes are no longer clean, the movement is no longer there, the defense looks scared, we weren't seeing that only 2 weeks ago. Confidence has just disappeared out of nowhere again in December and I cannot understand why.

Yeah a lot of people forget that our midfield is more important to our defence than our wingbacks in this system. If our midfielders aren't playing well or defending well, then our defence becomes vulnerable.

Reece and Mason getting booked didn’t help the cause. Our right side in particular was targeted second half

Rudiger won the two penalties, we need to get a deal sorted. Thank god for Mike Dean on VAR

Alonso had a mixed bag, stupid challenge for their spot kick, did well for our first

Attack flattered to deceive, we had chances but reactions were slow

Important win that stops the rot, we need midfield reinforcements if we are to sustain a challenge 

 

 

Pool was pretty poor I saw City - got a lucky lucky red and penalty ..they were poor too

Trevor is surprisingly badly missed he is solid on the right for us. Hope he isn’t out long, once him kante and kova are back we will be in a better position hopefully

Havertz worries me - he had 3 good chances and should have taken one of them.. for a generational player I would expect him to finish those.

Poor performance for the most part but a huge 3 points. Sometimes you have to win ugly.

Nah in this system the most important positions defensively are the 3 cb. They have been saving everyone game after game. There is some drop off in performance which affect us but it is what it is.

My bigger concern is offensively. We barely created anything and I really2 hate werner and alonso combination. Two limited player playing on the same side is not a really good idea

The only thing is I do get the feeling - we aren’t playing to his strengths - just behind the striker.

I saw both pens gifted to Pool And City and red cards as well, just in case. . this leauge is so biased towards us. they would have never won the game today

Its a whole different ballgame when most of the time you'll play against against teams that park the bus. He's at his best when he's got spaces to run in.

He honestly frustrates me. His all round game is good enough for him to be a top player but for some reason he doesn't know what to do when he reaches the final third. ANd unfortunately as an attacker, his goal scoring is really going to be the judge and jury on how good he is.
