Why? you are seeing it play out every season.

Good goal scorers don't turn to sh*t over night but somehow or other, with the rare exception we always find away to turn decent strikers into God awful players.  Since Costa left and despite money being thrown in all directions, we are no better off attacking wise, or it seems that way at least, when you look how many goals the forwards actually produce.  We are still in the habit of too many sideways and backward passes, slow build ups and a malaise about our game when we go ahead and this is certainly not the first season of us witnessing this type of behaviour.  And on top of that we still have not found a manager, regardless of who it has been recently, that has found a way to break down teams sitting deep or if they have the players don't execute the plan. In the absence of our first team midfield the defence has been badly exposed and yet does not appear to have been addressed in the past few weeks.

A tough game coming up against Wolves, personally I'd rather the game get called off because no way we taking 3 points up there the way we are performing at the moment; the only thing in our favour is that Wolves can't score either....

Am sure we will help them out with that.

I was thinking the same. Everton were hardly full of goals coming into the game tonight.

Costa would probably struggle in this system too. We are missing a player like Fabregas who can unlock well organized defenses with a key pass.

I think you're a bit harsh on Hudson-Odoi. Before he was dropped, he was starting to sort things out. He was creating chances, getting beyond players and getting shots away. Unlike the other attacking players, it felt like only a matter of time before everything clicked. For some strange reason, Tuchel took him out of the team. I don't know why he did it, but whatever the reason was hasn't worked out for us at all.

Thank God he was unavailable last night, he would have been crucified.

If I had a good squad and was challenging for the title I wouldn't have Odoi anywhere the first team. Rarely takes the full back on, isn't remotely direct enough and doesn't demonstrate that arrogant confidence you want from a young player. If I'm a full back he wouldn't worry me.

I know there was the whole Bayern interest thing but, in my opinion, if we transfer listed Odoi, Ziyech, Pulisic, RLC, and Barkey we wouldn't get a sniff for any of them from another English team with aspirations to finish in the top three.

Strange how our best run of form coincided with him playing as the left no 10 then..not saying results were all down to him, but we were balanced…he wasn’t Eden either but you could see he was growing in confidence..,then tuchel drops him and starts pissing about with him at wing back again.

That was an anomaly though. That was a one off in a season where we eventually won the title, what we are seeing now has become the norm for us. We don't just have a few poor results here and there, they are poor results and performances off the back of the team being in the form of their lives. Most teams have a dip in form at certain points of the season, but what we keep seeing from us isn't something I see any other team go through. We are the type of team that will go from challenging at the top, or at least look certain to secure a top 4 finish, to relegation form where we are clinging on and desperately hoping for one of the teams around us drop points.

We weren’t in Europe that season, which helped…also had a ridiculous spine, with class acts like hazard and costa making the difference regularly…Costa was a one chance one goal merchant…while hazard would create out of nothing. We don’t have a player who can do either in this squad at the moment. Even mount in the form he’s in missed a terrible one v one.

Well same old same old…should win by 3-4 but draw instead…to the people that booed at the final whistle, what a bunch of spoilt pricks…we were all frustrated, but fcuk me, seven months ago we were winning the European cup…a few weeks ago we were flying…have some fcuking perspective,

Agree with that. Same as Saul nor any player should be booed by our own fans. Is one thong coming on a site like this and pulling them over the coals. Is another doing it at the stadium reflects badly on us.

I think you people are seeing now that Tuchel is not a top coach. Playing Jorginho in that midfield is a mistake. We need speed in that midfield, we need quick transitions in that midfield. That is what our attackers need, they need someone who is strong in the Midfield who will create beautiful chances for them for them to score. We have so many options if Tuchel wanted someone who is quick in that midfield, we can play James in the Midfield with Loftus Cheek and let Aspi play in the wings. The movement and power of James in the Midfield would have been good for us both to prevent us from conceeding goals and for us to score goals.

We created enough chances to win the game it’s just not c**t will put them away!

like how James in midfield worked so well last time he tried it?

Very disappointing.

With the COV-ID omissions it had the feel of an early round FA Cup game.

Pulisic confirmed he cannot  lead the line for Chelsea though might still be good as a 10 if we have a decent 9.

We dominated the game for the first period and large part of the second though were just poor in front of goal and when we were good Pickford was good too.

Everton rode their luck and after Mount scored looked like they were capable of taking three points on the counter attack.

Kante was listed amongst the subs yet not used, was this mind games?

Not sure about their goal, did James really foul Gordon?

Certainly a great free kick as he put it in the danger zone at a good pace.

One of those games where it looks like neither Barkley or RLC have a future at the club after this season. Saul's loan looks temporary too.

Not a disaster though top four looks like the objective now rather than chasing the league title.

If we continue like this Top4 might be a problem too. Many teams getting results where we don't. Arsenal, MU, Spuds. Very concerning. Same players will play against Wolves...

Didn’t think James fouled Gordon for the free kick that led to their goal. Didn’t even think he touched him.

To be honest, we should have been a few ahead by that strange anyway.

Chances made, however not taken. Proving costly again.

How did it not work? What quality should a midfielder have that James does not have?

I laugh.

Looking at the other contenders for top 4 I fully expect Arsenal to pick up points at the rate they have done up until now this season. In other words winning most games you expect them to but frequently falling short against decent teams. It is hard to assess Spurs as they have barely played under Conte and they still have some issues in their squad. I am hoping that the postponed games may result in them losing the management bounce but Conte is capable of getting them on a good run. United will almost certainly improve and quickly narrow the gap if we start dropping off.

The next month will really tell us whether we are going to be continuing the chase for the top 2, or increasingly looking over our shoulders at the rest.

His positioning was awful and our defence was left with basically no cover, when he played there. Yes, he can pass and he's strong, but that doesn't mean he can just slot into CM at the highest level easily.

I disagree with you. If you are saying that because of the third goal we conceeded against Zenit, you should know the width of the midfield is much, maybe he was in a part of the midfield when the goal came in, maybe he wasn't in the part of the Midfield that the ball came to, maybe that was why he couldn't defend that ball. There should be two people in that midfield, when the goal came in against Zenit, I think it was Ziyech that was playing with James in the Midfield, so, can Ziyech help James to do any defending in the midfield? I think it's no. So, James alone cannot do the defending in the midfield, there should be two people there, the two people should be strong in attack, and should also be strong in defense.

I think your last sentence will be about right...

You know for the life of me I still cannot understand what on earth TT was thinking with that Saul sub and moving him in to an attacking position.

If you want to move CP to LWB just put Alonso up top. If Alonso is gased, which he should ne be as he had an easy game, put Trev up top he has shown an eye for goal. Or Put Toni up top and Trev in defence.

Putting Saul in is baffling. Is like Conte playing Bakayoko egging on the board to fire him bad.

It was not foul at all and Gordon clipped his own knee. Why the f**k VAR did not check it or our players demanded it to be checked? remember they went back 5 minutes checked Azpi foul and canceled well deserved goal for Chelsea earlier this season?
