January 9, 20224 yr When you look at the playing characteristics, Digne is definitely a better proposition than Dest, even allowing for "potential" and resale value in the latter ... Much better in the air, better at crossing, and above all much better at defensive contribution. Watch us sign Dest LOL
January 9, 20224 yr Digne is a better player for sure. Not sure why is it taking us so much to sign any LB to be honest... Imagine Newcastle beating us in signing Digne while also casually bringing Trippier, Ramsey, Wijnaldum...
January 9, 20224 yr I know it is difficult to judge Lewis Hall against non league opposition but I would say stick with him. Tuchel will have an idea if he can mix with the big players by watching him in training. I don’t think we should be signing another left back on big wages who is 28 years old. Doesn’t make sense. If Tuchel doesn’t want to use Hall, we should sign Kounde and use him to mix things around.

I was really impressed with Lewis Hall, not his play so much, though that looked ok against that opposition but his character. He just looked so utterly focused and determined every time the camera focused on his face. I straight away thought this guy will do ok. yet at 17 he is too young to play with the big boys regularly. I’d like to have Digne even if heis high risk character wise. We can manage a bit of a trouble making in one peripheral player. We can’t manage an injury to Alonso, we’d be stuffed.
January 9, 20224 yr He could be going to Villa, I don't think many players want to come here and get tossed aside as soon as Chilwell is ready. Rumour has it that we're trying to recall Emerson.

Rumour has it that we're trying to recall Emerson. You let some fans tell it & they will tell you City sit £50m defenders on their bench. Any starting international player for any of the top teams won’t be interested in riding the bench especially with the World Cup coming up.
January 9, 20224 yr Author Aye few reports he has chosen Villa and agreed personal terms with them. Villa are haggling on a price between 20-25mill. Same time other rumours are out that we don't want to make any permanent signings, only loans at most, this window. Our budget went all on Lukaku are the large losses from the last financial year mean the club don't not want to invest. Apparently we want Emerson back from loan however we don't have a break clause in his contract. Lyon paid a loan fee and have been using him regularly so they dont want to let him go nor does Emerson want to come back to be second choice to Alonso. So would mean us needing to pay a break fee to get him back.
January 9, 20224 yr He doesn't smell right to me. I am glad we are not getting him. Can we recall Emerson?

January 9, 20224 yr If Emerson can't come back, I would recall Maatsen. Not as green as Hall, and if we dont look at him now, he probably never gets an opportunity.

January 10, 20224 yr If we can't recall Emerson then we're in trouble. Playing Hall or Maatsen would be way too risky... Edited January 10, 20224 yr by wizardous
January 13, 20224 yr I thought that Digne would take the loan option, confident that if he just waited until the end of the season he would likely no longer have to deal with Benitez. Considering Everton's current financial woes, I imagine that the club's primary motives were financial rather than footballing.
January 13, 20224 yr Team won´t win the league with or without a new emergency LB. Team won´t finish outside the top 4 with or without a new emergency LB. Just keep developing players like Hall and save the strongest line-ups for the Cup competitions.
