We could do with Loftus Cheek for this game, someone who can beat the press. Normally you’d have Kovacic as first choice for that but he’s been terrible today, not like him at all.

I don't mind those as much as the times he stops our counterattacks by not passing the ball fast enough. I still think he had a better half then Pulisic though.

I don't think we have ever been this unlucky with injuries. James look certain to miss both Liverpool and City who's coming up and that's another hammer blow in addition to Chilwell.

Half the players on the pitch looks very leggy and Christensen is clearly playing on with pain.

Terrible luck. Terrible.

What is happening to our players has been happening for 3 seasons in a row now, and it's been getting progressively worse. It makes me wonder if we are doing something wrong in training.

That’s abit harsh on Pulisic. He’s playing as a wing back, I’d swap these two. Hudson Odoi as wing back and Pulisic in attack.

I keep saying it, and I'll say it again - he is consistently inconsistent.  He really isn't that good as people make him out to be.  One or two good games then back to his old self.

21 year old, young players by nature are inconsistent…even during a match

I agree with you. I think Callum has been extremely lucky to still be with Chelsea - we always kept him just in case, not because of strengths or talent.

It's a very good thing that we're ahead as there were some very serious problems in that performance after we scored.

Obviously the biggest one is that James has gone off with a knee injury - looked like the same knee which he had trouble with last season. Pulisic has shown tonight that he is a defensive non-entity, and Azpilicueta certainly can't play there twice a week. Christensen is now also possibly carrying a knock; I'd really rather not have to bring on Chalobah again as (while he has played well) he doesn't quite look like he's over his own knock.

Alonso is having his own problems with Lamptey; the knock-on effect is that Jorginho is compensating by positioning himself wide when Brighton have the ball in our third, which is leaving an enormous gap in front of the centre backs (hence all the shots Brighton were allowed to take).

Hudson-Odoi is having a rare horrible game in possession; Kovačić has been important but has given away the ball twice for counter-attacks with two unnecessary bad touches.

Regrettably we may have to switch to a midfield three. Of course this means that one of Kanté and Saúl would have to come on, neither of which would be ideal. Of course this is assuming that Christensen is even able to continue into the second half...

Dear oh dear!

Two defensive injury subs in 49 minutes is unbelievably bad luck on top of an already unreal level of season-long bad luck ...

Second half resumed like the end of the first half unfortunately.

We need Kante on.

He's also 21, if I'm not mistaken. Bound to be inconsistent, hopefully it will get better.

Never understand the praise Rudiger gets. He is gash. He is a headless chicken so many times with very little footballing IQ. He gets put on a pedestal, but he's not very good most of the time.
