Not saying I agree - I would say that it has looked like he downed tools, but we don't know for sure. Maybe he is just that dire as a 9? He looks like he wasnt trying because he wasnt, nothing to do with position or role, the last game had him literally wandering around as others tried to press, it was ridiculous. 14 hours ago, bluetrooper said: No, but if the player was sold on a move to us by saying he was going to be the main man in the 10 role, gets injured and see's palmer literally struggling to have any kind of impact on a game. You're going to check out. Why are you so desperate to give him excuses, none of that matters, sold on a move, wrong position, palmer struggling (no idea what that has to do with anything by the way). Checking out is just not acceptable when your on a pitch, there are no reasonable excuses allowed.

February 14, 20251 yr HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What a useless joke of a player. Makes Jackson look like he’s worth 200M go away you fool
February 14, 20251 yr Absolutely hopeless player. He's 27 now, too. Not getting any younger and has shown nothing. Granted, he hasn't been given enough chances to prove himself, but tonight was horrible to watch. I'd take an academy player up top right now.

Was a transfer lined up and the club then said no? It's not just him though is it. The malaise is across the pitch. Ultimately - given the situation, I'd rather defend the players over the board. I'd rather focus on that than whats happening at board level. The players and manager are the only ones who can really turn it around.
February 15, 20251 yr Back in the day if you didn't have a striker you'd play a centre back up top. That's what I'd do here - play Adarabioyo up front - at least he can head it. Nkuntku can stick his balloons up his arse and f**k off while he's doing it.
February 15, 20251 yr Just a pointless player. Unless Enzo has committed some serious physiological warfare and just abused him relentlessly that hasn’t been reported anywhere then I’m at a loss as to why he puts in no effort.
February 15, 20251 yr Honestly need to just play one of the teenagers up front, at least they'll make a nuisence of themselves.

A striker, that is keen to impress, and that has been trained as a striker, and knows the roles... Should have done this ages ago.
February 16, 20251 yr Jonathan Wilson's musings: https://jonawils.substack.com/p/the-universal-sadness-of-christopher Greed and inept leadership has led football into this mess: there are so many games that some players are breaking down under the strain, and yet at the same time the richest clubs are so wealthy that they can buy so many players that some, inevitably, will be left behind. In Nkunku are laid out the dismal consequences.
February 17, 20251 yr Re-watched the game and neither Nkunku nor Palmer were as bad as I first thought, albeit clouded by rage and frustration. He's in a similar situation to Sterling though. He came here as a player who needs to be a leader, a talisman and a champion; he needs to be one of our top 3 players every week. Yes there were tactical issues etc. but at the end of the day he also didn't make an effort to make things happen. Look at Mitoma's opener, for example; he's a small, pacey, technical player asked to deal with a Route 1 pass. And he just finds a way to make it happen.
February 22, 20251 yr I don’t blame him, he’s shown the type of person he is. The fact the manager keeps picking him when he shows zero respect to the shirt and his team mates with his non existent work rate is more worrying.

February 22, 20251 yr Winger/AM getting stuck as a number 9 and we're wondering why he's playing sh*t.

February 22, 20251 yr I swear to god he’s doing it on purpose. Just ambles around shrugging his shoulders
February 22, 20251 yr The lack of effort is staggering. While I'm not going to absolve him from blame entirely, I can't help but wonder if throwing him in the B squad, not allowing him meaningful PL minutes regardless of how many goals he scores, and trying to flog him in January has anything to do with that. He's basically been told he's not wanted and has no future at the club.
February 23, 20251 yr Honestly he is the one I understand the most being unhappy.blueco signings wise. One of the first brought in by a trusted RB person, sees the club sign experience in Sterling , Aubameyang and Koulibaly . Then 105 mill WC winner Enzo, then 115mill on one of the best PL players in Caicedo.Set to be a centerpiece for Poch, gets injured, misses the season, sees us only make confwrence league and Poch sacked.Comes back with a manager that does not want him, club wants to sell him but cannot and does not agree to loan him.
