Selling sterling is not a problem if you can sell him but realistically it is difficult. he is still useful, so why not just use him

Not sure but I think his camp released a statement on him being dropped !!?! Really how can you do that.. yes he is disappointed but solve it with the manager in his room not in media.. disgraceful if true.

His "camp" is such an adversarial choice of words. This cannot end amicably I fear.

In my opinion that statement is equal to the Lakaka interview the other year.
I think there is a decent player in Sterling but too often he’s a liability and not good enough to make demands of the club. This kind of toxicity spreads, cut our losses and ship him out.

If he wasn’t on monster wages or have a team that releases statements when he’s not in the match day squad I think he would be a squad. The season is long and I would not be surprised to see a conference league and cup team where it’s basically a whole different line up. The players who are here when the window ends will all get game time especially with the track record of injuries last summer, but having a player with a big ego on big wages makes no sense. If we can get 20-30 million for him he’s definitely off

Not pulled any trees up since he came here, a lot more was expected of him in a leadership role and performances which he has not delivered.  He should have been told, as with the others, that he's not in the future plans at the start of training camp.  The bloated squad certainly hasn't helped him but he has not shown anything in my mind to deserve a start over anyone else, it's almost like he thinks he can walk into the side without too much effort.  If he wants to stay then he needs to work harder and prove he's the player we thought we bought a couple of years ago.    No one is going to cry if he leaves, right now he's a bang average player.

The problem is Bro', that Sterling is on £350k per week and NOBODY in their right mind, will take him on, unless we are paying ALL or most of those wages. We need players off the payroll and unfortunately, Sterling is unlikely to be one of them.

Is there a link to the message his camp has put out? I can find a lot of news articles about the message, but not the message itself.

TIA.

Sterling's statement in full
A spokesperson for Sterling said:

"Raheem Sterling is contracted to Chelsea Football Club for the next three years.

"He returned to England two weeks early to conduct individual training, and has had a positive pre-season under the new coach, who he has developed a good working relationship with.

"He is committed, as ever, to delivering at the highest level for Chelsea FC and the fans, who he holds in high regard, and given his inclusion in official club pre-match material this week, our expectation was that Raheem would be involved in this weekend's fixture in some capacity.

"As a camp, we have always had positive dialogue with, and assurance from, Chelsea FC in relation to Raheem's future at the club, so we look forward to gaining clarity on the situation. Until then, we will continue to support Raheem's desire to start the new season positively."

We know nothing about the discussions held between the manger and other players, we have no idea what was discussed when the squad was told on Friday nor how RS reacted. Yes he was used during pre season but players do get minutes in PSFs and get moved on.
Maresca almost certainly would be criticised if he didn’t have a look at an experienced international (ex) in these games, its highly possible that the manager just doesn’t like what he has seen be it in training, taking on board what the manager wants, the player’s attitude etc. what we do know is that Sterlings response has been petulant and despite the situation with Chilly, Conor, Trevh and others who the club doesn’t feel have a future none have done what Sterling did.

Sterling thinks he deserves special treatment. He is costing between 5&10% of the overall squad costs I don’t rate other players but I certainly dont see  value
That lack of knowledge likewise is the case re Chilly. You say he was advised in an open press conference  I would hazard a guess, no I think it’s beyond doubt that he would have had conversations with the club about his future so the comments at the press conference

We have no idea the state of things behind the scenes I wonder if there has been some offers indeed Sky are suggesting that if a player is left out then something is in the offing ok they are talking about Toney ironically he was left out of Brentford’s squad yet no petulant comment from the player.

As I keep saying I am not a betting man but I suspect by Thursday we will know an awful lot more re around potentially 7 departures

Kepa, Chalobah, Chillwell, Sterling, Lukaku,Broja, Madueke

Looks like Carney could be added to that list sadly.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong about Maresca's decision. He's the manager and he decides, if it's corrent or wrong is something different and in this case I'm with Maresca.

I think Sterling should be one of the better players in this team, but he's far away from this so far.

I believe that he still can be useful this season, he still has got experience in this league and he can deliver something, but he has to show that every time he plays.

Don;t really see what they gain by this statement. Just looks like a bunch of children that think they're too good to be dropped.

Quite. Sterling sacked his old agent a year or so ago, set up his own agency with assistance from a law firm for contracts. Rules prohibit players from being intermediaries so his Mum is/was sole director of the agency. Curious to know who was actually behind the statement.

No salt on your lunch, please.

Statement comes across as unnecessary but no one in their right mind believe someone like Mudryk deserves to make the squad while Sterling gets axed. There's less than two weeks left of the transfers window and if the club is planning to give him the "Chalobah-special" then he's got every right to be extremely frustrated as much as Maresca have the right to leave him out.

If the plan is to force him out then they've left it too late. Especially when Maresca have previously stated that Sterling would be a key player for him this season. Felix coming in is not going to do anything to resolve this situation either tbh, will likely just make it even messier.

No decision made on lunch yet.

Sausage, bacon and hash brown baguette with brown sauce at 9am though. Waiting for that to soak in.

I think on preseason merit Sterling is above Mudryk.  If Muscara is serious about selecting a best and second best left sided attacking player I find it hard to believe Sterling doesn't make the match day squad.

Mudryk isn't settling in the team and is unlikely to improve before the close of the transfer window.  However,  a loan at this stage is an admission of that and the risk of him failing somewhere else is just too great as the club would lose out on a future transfer fee. On reflection this maybe a little harsh but Mudryk has become a big money problem and Sterling is on the wrong end of it.

Sterling's wages are also a major factor here and it may well be that this is tipping the balance against him.

Somehow whatever way I look at this I can't help but think there is significant interference from above and players aren't being selected on merit.

Of course there are conflicting information and opinions out there but no player in their right mind would sanction this sort of statement to be issued.
It is surfacing this morning via HTIC

https://www.hitc.com/raheem-sterling-stance-revealed-as-chelsea-make-their-position-clear-saudi-offer-on-the-table/

that Chelsea, like Brentford received offers late last week from Saudi Teams. In the case of Brentford the Toney  offer Sky this morning said the offer has been turned down was not acceptable. Both Toney and Sterling were omitted from their respective clubs squads for Sundays games. Toney has kept his head down. Sterling has as we have witnessed gone petulant

I know I am putting 2+2 together but reading Sterlings statement and how things played out I suspect he has been told the offer is acceptable to Chelsea

May be the case but Sterling (or Chalobah or any others for that sake) should not be punished for not wanting to go there.

Cholesterol numbers to match the numbers we paid for Enzo. I'm going to have to issue a statement seeking clarity on my role as your dietitian.

I think it's simpler than that.

Eghbali, Stewart & Winstanley now want Felix and his 13m Instagram followers, which wasn't the case last week. They are freeing up a slot in the squad for him, and Sterling is the casualty, presumably because they already have a plan to ship him out without losing too much money, whereas they'd take an absolute bath on Mudryk (if anyone was even interested)

Not saying alot Andy. On preseason merit we should all be picked before Mudryk.

But that's not really the point. As @CFCCAN has pointed out above Sterling has been a dreadful signing on the whole. Even without Mudryk in the equation Sterling still doesn't make the starting line-up when others are fit and available. The problem is he is having a major issue processing that.

Carney is one of those players that we could make profit of. He's shown enough at Chelsea to be considered a top talent. His injury last season probably got him to where we are... and the change in coach.

I bet we are going to have tons of these young lads just passing through the club for a season or two to make some money.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say it's the ownership that went over Enzos head to force Sterling out due to his wages and performances.

Let's be honest it's pretty obvious.

Just the way football is now.

My main point was that  it is inconceivable that there isn't somebody telling Maresca who to pick. It's happening far too much and it undermines Maresca's authority in front of the team. Its a constant at the moment. Apparently Maresca has applauded Sterling's preseason efforts and has said he's an important player. Afterward the statement yesterday he said he was left out for a 'technical reason'. I seriously question if he knows who's in or out on daily basis at the moment.

These owners are playing hard and fast with the transfer market to detriment of thier new manager and the matchday team selection.

This could all turn very ugly as all Sterling has to do is turn up for training and do his utmost to get selected. Will the owners put him on the naughty step along with the others is yet to been but its getting a bit crowded there and the window is fast approaching.
