i actually like him, he has something about him.

i don't understand why everyone is so critical. He passes the eye test for me.

i would back him to be a succes and a future fan favourite.

And he could potentially score more goals in a season than Kovacic.

Simon Jordon on talk sport was spot on - prices are crazy, and if Boehly is mad enough to drop £60m on Anthony Gordon, the. The poor blue scousers would be mad not to take the money and run.

But no for £60m

I jest.

Most transfer sites had Gordon valued at £20m and now we are going to pay £60m ??!?!? For a player who has four goals in 63 games.

Maybe he is "so bad he's good" like his fashion sense?

I just don't see it.  I struggle to even compare him to any other players - is this like a 60M James Milner?

A fair few suggestions that TT had Raphinha as his only target for this role and it was a setback when he said no. 4 weeks back the data and TT scouting has apparently led him to Gordon as the wide player he believes will bring energy and versatility to play across his front line and on either side as a wingback as needed.

Raphinha and Sterling were his first two main targets.

When one reads a 60 million pound headline like this makes one question the sanity of people running the club. Why would this chap work out any better than the failures that are Temo, Zyech or Pully ? He's undoubtedly less talented, scores less (yes remarkably), not an international etc. etc. Bloody mind blowingly baffling. Anybody got any positives on this young man at least ?

I think nobody in this forum had problems with these two, especially Sterling is a really good transfer.

But the 3rd choice is GORDON for 60m gbp ????? This must be a joke.

"

Everton winger Anthony Gordon will be on the bench tonight as they take on Fleetwood in the Carabao Cup.

Sky Sports News understand there has been no change in the situation with Chelsea and no new formal bid has been made at this point.

It’s expected a formal bid will arrive from Chelsea anytime now and that the player has made it clear to Everton that he would like to move to London."

From Sky sports. Worked well for Fofana expressing what he wants lol.

This is a real head scratcher and for the life of me I just can't fathom it.

Who had even heard of this bloke until mid-way through last season. A promising young player but no more than that.  He has only broken into the Everton side because they are Everton. He wouldn't be in any other top side and if he was at our academy he would be out on loan so why are we talking of spunking £60M on him FFS?

Utter desperation and madness and youngsters already at our club who have toiled hard must be thinking WTF?

I pray this one doesn't happen as it will go horribly wrong.

@coco pointed out well most of our legends were players few had heard of before they signed, like Cech, Drogba, etc and the big names like Lukaku failed miserably.

Maybe we will all get to eat humble pie and Gordon turns out to be really good? We can but hope.

Bang on.

Who set up that webpage to ban Anthony Taylor for reffing us. Let's do another one. "Gordon's, just say NO"

Everton are now demanding either Broja or Gallagher on loan as part of the deal. It’s a crazy deal; why not a loan swap & then assess it at the end of the season?

Just now, TheGermanOne said:

Batsman? is he still around?

That works too.

Unless we are signing midfielders we need Conor, so I guess it would be Broja but he really could do well here, he is a top player in the making, and a lot better than Gordon right now.

Aren't there any other hidden gems that are cheaper, so our loss when they go on 5 consecutive loans will be smaller?

From targeting Rafinha, Koulibaly, Sterling, Aubameyang, Cucurella, to Anthony Gordon. It is a bit weird, not gonna lie. We could have just gone in for Ivan Toney weeks ago and probably got him for that kind of money.

Probably got Tony Bennett for that money...

the hidden gem Gordon for only 60m GBP. I am so happy about it you cannot imagine. He will be just worse than Ziyech or Pulisic and will score probably one or maybe even two goals per season. How exciting!!!!

He has a batting average of .720; an average of 6 strike outs per game, 45 points per game including 10 3pointers, 3 dunks and 15 turnovers.....that's the best I can come up with 😲  other than that he's sh*te for £60M
