August 16, 20223 yr There probably wasn’t even a bid in the first place, this all originated from Sky. Their ‘Breaking News’ sections, we all knew last week. They want to be relevant!
August 16, 20223 yr More on Flash wanting to join us, and us hoping he pushes Everton in to allowing it: https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2022/8/16/23308318/anthony-gordon-wants-to-join-chelsea-but-everton-reject-second-offer-reports

If CHO could only take on a defender, if only Kai Havertz could score goals, and many other 'ifs' we've witnessed over the years. While Gordon may be young and fast, he surely is not worth £50mill, that's season international players territory. £20-25mill at best.

August 17, 20223 yr If Gordon does join, I think it's almost guaranteed Gilmour will go the other way and perhaps Batshuayi
August 17, 20223 yr Gordon has one key asset over CHO. There is an edge to him, an agression that CHO doesn't have. He's "up for it". Diaz at Liverpool is the same.
August 17, 20223 yr Whatever his cost is, it seems likely to be offset with player or players going in the other direction. Todd is a believer in player exchange/swap apparently. to get a sky sports news version of the above please read with a pause between every other word. Edited August 17, 20223 yr by OneTommyLangley
August 17, 20223 yr Even if we sell Ziyech and Pulisic, CHO should be ahead of this kid but somehow I have a feeling that if we do sign Gordon that he'll get a chance sooner than CHO.
August 17, 20223 yr Feels like we want him because of how he played against us. Last time we did that we signed Salah. I don't know what that means.
August 17, 20223 yr If we want him so bad, make the deal, Throw in Gilmour and Bats ffs, Everton say they want players, we have loads of fringe, Hell even Puli, Barclay or Ziyech?? Edited August 17, 20223 yr by Ballack & Blu
August 17, 20223 yr I can't stand this guy. Only thing I've seen him do is win a leg race and then dive at the slightest bit of contact.

Sending them players is one thing...it's the f**king stupid wages we've put them on that makes it difficult to get rid of unless we end up paying at least half the wages. Why would you want to leave one club that's paying you over £100,000 a week, to a club that might only pay you £50-60,000k.

Think we'd learn to like him if he signed for us though. Extremely hard worker and got some talent. £50 million is obviously excessive but he's a talented lad.

Spending £50m on a position we don't urgently need when we have more pressing issues like a CB, midfield and a CF

They want to be relevant! Its such a wonderful time of year, fans get angry when Chelsea are rumoured to be signing someone, with no basis other than someone pretending to be Italian on twitter. Then get angry when we dont actually sign them, even though it was just a rumour made up by someone pretending to be Italian on twitter 😅
August 17, 20223 yr I don't think this one happens as it is being reported Everton want Broja for him and qe are not willing to let Broja go.
August 17, 20223 yr i wouldn't do that trade a loan maybe but i suspect if that happens that we will get Aubameyang. I prefer to give Broja a chance over Aubameyang

Chelsea seemed to have done this a number of times in the past, being interested or buying players who have played good games against us who we maybe wasn't looking at previously.

Spending £50m on a position we don't urgently need when we have more pressing issues like a CB, midfield and a CF I wouldn't say it's crazy given that the two deals people have gotten the hump over (Cucurella the other) provide suitable options to Chilwell and James. I would prefer our season not crumbling if we lose either/both again.
August 17, 20223 yr In last years match day thread against Everton, i immediately commented he would be brilliant at Chelsea, lets do it

Come next season one of Cucurella or Chiwell will get the hump because they are not playing regularly and push for a move. We will be forced to sell one for less than market value. Presently we are forking out close to £300k/w for the LB position, makes no sense whatsoever. Liverpool have spent less than £50m on four of their fullback options, and a few of our rivals spent less £20m for a fullback this summer. My theory that Boehly is trying to burn through the mandated squad Investment capital stipulated by Roman as quickly as possible still stands. There is no way we won’t look back at this summer’s spending in the next couple of years when he inevitably turns off the tap, and wonder why we didn’t make smarter moves in the market.
