Bang average footballer. If he wasn’t English would we be interested? I think not.

The main thing I can glean from his scouting report above is that he "runs around a lot" ... on most of the metrics you'd want a winger to be excelling at, it's probably optimistic to call him bang average ...

For the record he's only three months younger than Hudson-Odoi.

Food for thought: the last time an opposition side gave us as much space in their half as teams routinely give Everton was probably when we beat Norwich 7-0 in the league last year, and Hudson-Odoi looked absolutely brilliant.

(Assuming there's any truth to this) what's the plan here? Play him at wing-back? Is he intended to be the successor to Timo Werner in that he looks brilliant off the ball, has a ludicrous top speed (that he'll never get the opportunity to use) and never ever score? Seems daft.

Something about our transfer strategy at the moment seems very ill thought out and haphazard.

In all of Europe and beyond, can our scouts not identify a same profile type player, age, level of experience and style similarity that can be signed for a third of what we are trying to do here?

Cos it’s the manager suggesting the signings. This won’t end well in the long run.

couldn't we offer them a lower fee and loan him back to them? Like 30 million with a 2 year loan or a 1 year loan + one player of ours we don't need

Apparently the bid was actually £24 plus loads of addons. So I'm hoping we dont get into that £50m upfront range.

The media vary in their reporting of this. Some say it is just informal talks between us and Everton, maybe seeing if we can swap a player or two (Batman and Barkley perhaps as they need forwards), others say we bid 40mill straight and it was knocked back but, despite that, the deal could be done this week.

I mean if Barkley and Batman go to Everton that helps Frank out and of it keeps the price down who knows, maybe he is decent and we got rid of two players we did not want. That alone would be worth paying 35mill for lol.

to get rid of Batshuayi and Barkley, and their wages, and to get a 21 yr old, who is still a raw diamond, in return for a reduced fee would be excellent business

Frank really loves this Gordon kid. He's the only one who played every game for him. His first son Mount did pretty well. Maybe his second son Gordon could reach those levels. He already has the work rate and pressing ability…

He’s only 2 years younger than Mason Mount but he’s barely even Vitesse Arnhem-Mase, at 18.. I could accept an Mbappe level ‘raw’ youth at £50m.. but Gordon??!! This truly is madness. He can press the ball… wow, no end product and Everton fans couldn’t care less. Money Laundering.. no other way to explain it.

One of the few players I've like through watching him and nobody in the media has spotlighted him yet. He's extremely tenacious and hard working, presses well and wins the ball back.

For the manager he could be a certain player that performs that single function that benefits the team and that he values very much, like Ramires for Jose or Fellaini for... Jose.

Can't speak too much for his attacking play but he could be a Chilwell type signing where you don't see how he's £40-50m but he joins a better side and explodes.

Bad examples actually I should have said Willian for Jose lol

We got massively ripped off on Chilwell.

He's decent but I still don't see how he was worth 50m and we've now signed a better player in his position for a bigger fee.

Looked a promising player whenever I’ve seen him but not convinced at all he’s an upgrade on what’s currently here. Maybe worth a punt around if he was priced at circa 30 million.

We seriously need a great DoF.

Our transfer strategy and dealings in market at the moment is sad.

Fire the lot of the scouting department then.  I can recommend 5 shed enders who will do the job for a pittance compared to what those inept folks up there are doing, and with much impactful end results too.

Has generally been shocking for several years. Pisses me off to see many other clubs picking up great bargains and we pay over the odds for sh*te and has been's. Do we not have scouts in South America or other European countries looking at the U23's etc.

I know very little about this guy so I'm not going to judge. Having said that, before Boehly bought the club there were rumours that player recruitment was going to be based on data research so I imagine they are probably seeing something the average fan doesn't see? At least that's what I'm going to assume since this came out of the bloom.

I think the main reason they want him is because those stats would be useful in a system that involves a lot of pressing. A lot of our crop of players from last season are sh*t at pressing so I'm guessing Tuchel wants to fix that issue.

Meaning what Dave?

Apparently we have submitted an improved offer of 45mill and, despite him being a lifetime Evertonian he apparently wants the move and is not impressed with the contract Everton offered him to stay.

I guess he is CHO replacement if we get him as Cal is set for a loan.
