Anthony Gordon

Featured Replies

Apparently he has told Lamps and the Everton higher ups he wants to leave, won't sign a new deal (has 3 years left on current one) and he really wants to come to us and won't consider other offers.

Been convinced of the project for him by TT it seems.

Apparently Everton and Lamps want Billy Gilmour and his inclusion could sweeten the deal.

And this is hardly stunning news bit apparently TT wants us to sign all 4 of Auba, De Jong, Gordon and Fofana...

Rather spend that kind of money on Oliseh or Eze....

I wonder what TT and club see in Gordon that they dont see in those two.

Eze is a different type of player. More of an attacking/creative midfielder. Olise has had a lot of injury issues, and Palace would probably want a similar amount for him. I have watched quite a bit of both Olise and Gordon. They are both talented players. I have to say I do like Gordon's tenacity and aggression. In that respect he reminds me of players like Damien Duff.

Loved Duffer, if Gordon becomes a player like him he would be worth the 50mill.

My guess - RWB + attacking cover. If you look at his stats - the ones I posted previously - his work rate and off the ball stuff is pretty great. Then on the ball he's quick, technically sound, a good dribbler. And Tuchel has seen him against his side a few times.

It's worth noting that the base fee offered is 25m and I doubt we would offer much more than that. The structure of the add ons means we'll be paying more if he does well which is fair. If the media reported 25m + add-ons, less fans would lose their mind.

I really hope the club see something we ordinary supporters don't see, but given our recent track record of recent big money signings, I'm very skeptical. 50m for a prospect is just nuts.

Biggest issue is the manager hasn’t improved any of our old forwards who came with a pedigree by even 10%, you could even argue they have all regressed. Spending £50m on a raw prospect who needs loads of polishing is the definition of madness.

I really rate the lad but at the moment is he going to give us that but extra that takes us towards the top of the league? I know we are making a lot of signings that are focusing on youngsters and the future as well as Sterling, Koulibaly etc but £50m on a player that won't help our main problem, goalscoring, seems an odd one.

It's even more of a head scratcher if he wants Gordon as a RWB. Surely there are better cheaper options that play in that position.

I have a feeling that Todd Boehly is using a type of NFL draft thinking, in our search for the BEST young talent. In other words, we are paying what currently seems like "top dollar" for young talented players, Chukwuemeka, Slonini, Cucarella, and possibly Ceasre Casedai, to secure them for the long term future and maybe not so much this Season. Anthony Gordon would fit this profile too. All of the above have some first team experience and Chelsea's coaching team will coach them in the "Chelsea way" of doing things and make them ready for our first team. Obviously we are buying a few more experienced players like Sterling and Koulibaly as we need the experience in certain positions, but I expect to see a lot less of this type of signing going forward. I am pleased that we are changing tack !!

I think he is a great player and I enjoy watching him play , but 50mil for a young and mostly untested player seems mad. its the fact hes English pushing the price up. Pay it and get him in, hes class

He's projected to be better than Ross Barkley, and Ross himself is the only one in our squad that is capable of doing step-overs in the final third so...

Money GIF

I agree, just look at these step overs from Barkley......

£200m there easy. Total spend of £370m. Cant see it, but if we have that to spend, surely target Leao or Antony.

calm down and trust in Tuchel's judgement

I trust his judgement, but the money we are throwing around worries me and I fear it could hurt us later on. I don't know how strict UEFA are going to be with FFP, but we are surely spending more than we should be.
