I trust his judgement, but the money we are throwing around worries me and I fear it could hurt us later on. I don't know how strict UEFA are going to be with FFP, but we are surely spending more than we should be.

He was also fine with spending 999m for bigRom so there's that too...

it isn't as worrying as it appears

this is calculated assuming we spend the money to get Aubameyang, De Jong & Fofana

Putting all these estimates together would give a £42m pre-tax profit for #CFC in 2021/22, largely driven by the massive £160m profit from player sales. This would actually be the highest ever player trading profit in England, beating Chelsea’s own £143m in 2019/20.

That would imply a P&S adjusted profit of £3m over the 3-year monitoring period, so £108m better than the allowed £105m loss. The 2017/18 £95m P&S profit will be dropped, replaced by the estimated 2021/22 £73m profit, so not too much damage done.

The assumed transfer spend this summer implies a £185m loss for #CFC in 2022/23, though this could be mitigated by player sales before the end of the window, as this is currently only £5m (including loan fees). In fact, Timo Werner was sold for a small £4m accounting loss.

Even with the huge loss for 2022/23, #CFC would still be fine under the Premier League’s P&S rules, though their margin of safety would fall to £26m. Cleary, these are only modeled figures, but it does highlight that leading clubs have more room to maoeuvre than people think.

and he adds

That said, UEFA’s FFP rules are stricter than the Premier League with the allowable losses (“acceptable deviation”) over 3 years being only €30m (including €25m equity contribution), though this will increase to €90m from 2024 (i.e. including 2022/23 as the 3rd year).

UEFA have also introduced squad cost control via a new ratio of player wages, transfers & agent fees that is limited to 70% of revenue & profit on player sales, though there will be a gradual implementation over 3 seasons (90% in 2023/24, 80% in 2024/25 and 70% from 2025/26).

so FFP might be something to watch out for but we haven't sold any players yet and i'm assuming we will sell Lukaku next year

Biggest issue is the manager hasn’t improved any of our old forwards who came with a pedigree by even 10%, you could even argue they have all regressed. Spending £50m on a raw prospect who needs loads of polishing is the definition of madness.

He's improved Pulisic. He's Jumped from a 4 goal a season player to a 5 goal a season player under Tuchel.

A whopping 25% improvement.

Mount has continued to improve improve.

Asking Tuchel to keep polishing turds in his 3rd season here when he's already proven he can coach quality attacking players is simply failing him.

One of my favourite silly lines: Flash, Flash, I love you but we only have 14 hours to save the earth!

The films a classic, Mings wedding vows at the end always make me chuckle.

Priest: Do you, Ming the Merciless, Ruler of the Universe take this Earthling, Dale Arden to be your Empress of the hour?
Ming: (pause) of the hour, Yes.
Priest: Do you promise to use her as you will?
Ming: (pause, then very slyly) Certainly!
Priest: Not to blast her into space?
Ming: (silence)
Priest: ....Until such time as you grow weary of her....?
Ming: I do.
Dale: I DO NOT!!

Wow you truly are a Chelsea fan......?!!!!

Sky Sports reporting our offer of 40 to 45mill has been rejected out of hand by Everton who insist he is not for sale. So why did we bid after talking to them for 2 days if he is not for sale?

Chatting to an Everton season ticket holder I work with and he says we're welcome to Gordon. Prefers a dive to the hard work of actually beating a player and has no end product anyway. Everton will have learnt from Brighton and will hold out for 55 million.

Incidentally, I see City have got their left back for 11 million. They have the most money, but they seem never to get fleeced.

That's our style. I'm sure we'll seal the deal at 60 mill and loan him out to some obscure team next year.

Yea, Everton fans I know and from looking at their forums think the same. What a coup for them, £50m for a guy who can press and that’s it, nothing to his game. This would ruin the whole summer window, actually can’t believe it and still think this is some form of money laundering.

I don't know different people have different tastes...I don't judge lol...

As I mentioned in the Fofana thread if he, and Gordon, want these moves to happen submit a transfer request and say something short like "I really would like the chance to talk to Chelsea, and hope hope club's agree a fee so I can".

Boom that is "really pushing".
