Probably the worst I've felt about a signing since it was clear he was going to be our Hazard replacement and he was less talented than Edens siblings! Thorgan was massively outperforming him in the Bundesliga at the time, thought we'd have brought him back due to us apparently having a buyback clause when he was at Gladbach. I never really feel uninspired when we sign a cheap player that will likely never make the squad, football is a business and we've brought in hundreds of players over the years to fill the loan army or just never make it. They're forgettable. It's when we spend big money on players that are clear downgrades on what we have or haven't shown anything to suggest they're Chelsea standard you really put your head in your hands. August 24, 20223 yr If we sign him I think he's going to be really good for our system, just saying it here so I can come back and do an 'I told you so'.
August 24, 20223 yr Someone with a price tag of 60M has to start, whose spot is he going to take? Based on his characteristics, expect him to be an end to end winger, allowing James freedom to do his things, and press opposition all game. Similar to Dirk Kuyt of Liverpool back in the days, get 5-7 goals a year but all his team mates loves his work rate and commitment.

When people say a manager should be backed they invariably mean the manager should be given unlimited funds to sign whatever player is on their own personal wishlist not whoever the manager actually wants.

I have no issues with Gordon if our midfield didn't look incredibly fragile. Add Defence as well. The fact Tuchel doesn't deem the midfield a priority has me concerned because matches like last week against Leeds was a regular thing last season Dec-April. We will likely expect more of the same this season, in an even more congested season.

August 25, 20223 yr Well, when you consider that I have won 326 consecutive Champions Leagues, 306 of the last 310 Prems and every FA Cup in between in FIFA's 2010 - FIFA 21 .... yes, they need to consult me and follow MY plan. I clearly know what I am doing and my playstation record shows it! Thank you
August 25, 20223 yr Well I know most of us are very concerned about this deal, but it sounds like the talks between both clubs high ranking people is going quite well, and their is a willingness to get it done quickly so Everton can sign new players, which they are already investigating and making offers for apparently.
August 25, 20223 yr Soton wont sell Adams to SFL for 25 mill or to any club right now, 30th coming up fast to bring in replacements Edited August 25, 20223 yr by General
August 25, 20223 yr I can imagine Gordon would be a decent squad player, he can play wing back or winger. He’s fast, hard working and he has potential to be a good player. 60m though, that’s ridiculous. Far too much for a rotational squad player, the worlds gone mad.
August 25, 20223 yr " Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol on The Transfer Show: "We were told there were some crucial high-level meetings happening today with regards to Anthony Gordon and a move to Chelsea. "They're prepared to pay up to £60m, he's believed to have told Everton he wants to leave. Thomas Tuchel wants him at Chelsea, and we're expecting an update on those meetings later today."
August 25, 20223 yr Apparently all these high level meetings have led to Everton telling us he is not for sale lol. From Sky sports: " Everton remain determined to hold onto Anthony Gordon, who is wanted by Chelsea. Chelsea are willing to pay up to £60m for Gordon, but Everton don't want to sell him despite the player expressing he would be interested in a move to Stamford Bridge. Everton are working on bringing a striker to the club regardless of the Gordon situation and talks are ongoing in that regard."

If that's true lets agree with them that they should keep him, and just stick to the other players we're linked with. 👀
