Please can someone explain to me, is Enzo an attacking midfielder?

Since we want to get another top midfielder in Lavia, and I think Lavia is a defensive midfielder, both Caicedo and Lavia should start as DMs.

Is Enzo an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder? If he's a DM, then who are we going to bench out of Enzo, Lavia and Caicedo if we want to play two DMs.

If Enzo is an attacking midfielder, then I understand why we are getting Lavia. Maybe Enzo will play as an attacking midfielder? But if not, do we need to get another top class DM, to stay on the bench?

We already have Andrey Santos and Lesley I think as squad players to stand in in our DM.

I thought Olise or Kudus would have been the priority now in midfield since we've got Caicedo.

Enzo is able to play the 6, 8 or 10 roles very well.

As @Argogas said he is better deeper where he can use his vision and range of passing.

I wonder though could he also play the Cesc role as well as Cesc did. @Argothoughts?

I suspect we would consider Caicedo and Lavia in midfield against teams that have stronger midfield. But in other games probably just one of the 2. So Lavia would likely rotate with Caicedo at times, and provide cover for injuries.

I think playing a similar role to Cesc would be ideal for Enzo.  Hoping he can get similar assist numbers.

I’d say his best trait is being able to turn from 6 to 8 to 10 as the play builds up.

Wasn’t that his role for Argentina? he plays from the deep, as the play develops he gets further and further up the pitch to add the extra man

Putting him in the Cesc role imo isn’t as productive because our wingers are terrible goalscorers for some reason

Enzo is a lot like Scholes imo.

Can play deep, control the tempo, or can play more advanced whilst linking with attackers.

Can't shoot for sh*t though apparently 😅. More Kovacic than Scholesy there atm

There was a video @RIP Mourinho posted (not sure on what thread) but it breaks down very well Enzo's contribution in the DM and AM zones and how effective he is in each zone.

From that vid analysis, he contributes more at the front end. I'm really happy we are signing others to take the burden of DM off him as we are more likely to benefit more from him being pushed up.

I don't think Cesc is a good comparison in general because as good as he was final ball wise the version we had couldn't control a game to save his life.

Enzo won't be as good with the splitting through balls but he's on another planet to (our version of) Cesc in terms of dictating the tempo of games.

Lukaku and Ziyech need to f**k off now. Sad to see CHO go but he hasn't been good enough, even for Leverkusen. What Saka is today is what I thought he'd become. It happens in football. I also thought Josh McEachran would take over from Lampard.

Ultimately, it's entirely possible we can raise a further 70-100m in sales if you count Lukaku, Ziyech, CHO and possibly Chalobah and (I hope not) Gallagher.
