Such an unbelievably composed player, love him

I like his aggression too, was getting right fired in at one point when we needed to get some control back.

Incredible he's only 20.

Aye so much more to come, as long as his body does not let him down.

same age as Ugochukwu and a year younger than Casadei. Head and shoulders above either of them, hope he stays fit.

Cities academy produced a crop of gems.

What’s clear is Maresca is under strict orders to be ultra careful with all of our long term injured from last season. If that’s what it takes to get them fully fit then so be it because we have a squad that can cope.

Lavia was quality today. Some of his passing was top class. Could be a mainstay in our team for a decade.

Which, I'm guessing, is a huge change from last season.

Last season it seems the coaching and not the medical/fitness staff had the final say on whether players were ready to return. It doesn't matter what you say as a doctor/physio/trainer when the coach's fitness/performance advisor is his son.

???

Lavia last year came to us already injured

Said in the Matchday thread it took a lot of balls to sub him out for the tactical tweak. It was a complete midfield performance. He played a “thread through a needle” pass to Palmer that split open the entire Spurs team.

That pass was Fabregas`esque....absolutely beautiful.

Think his head injury cause it even though they said hammy. That was a tough blow to the head which you can’t ignored.

What would be good is if Santos comes back in January and stays and is able to transform his Ligue 1 form to the pace and intensity of the PL. Then we have the opportunity to manage Lavia whilst not demonstrably having to change shape when the personnel needs resting.

Strange. Commentators said at the start of the second half that Gusto for Lavia was confirmed for tactical reasons.

Yeah they said tactical but if you watch it back the delayed response and the way he fell got me uneasy because I thought concussion immediately.

He got elbowed close to his temple that’s dangerous.

Enzo Maresca: “We don't want to take risks in December. Sometimes it's better to make changes after 45 minutes rather than lose a player for five or six games”, told Sky Sports.

This 100% 👆

But this bit worries me slightly...

“Roméo Lavia had a hamstring problem…but now he is okay”.

I also think the elbow to the head was a factor too...why risk it!

i hope he's ok...he is truly class and just 20! Shocking.

Now compare that to Ange!

He lost 3 players in the end, and i can't help but think they weren't fully fit at the start!

Sounds like Sunday came too soon for him. Real shame. Really hope his availability improves soon as we need these options depth / options.

With rumors of Chukwuemeka, KDH and Casadei potentially departing, think it would be prudent to recall Ugochukwu or Santos.

Yep, as I posted in the Everton thread I'm worried about our midfield atm. Lavia and caicedo are vital to this team.

Also if recalling anyone then they will need time to get used to the team and the way we play.
