I'm sorry for what I'm saying.. but I think Lavia already offering us more than Enzo's two seasons.

His defensive play, discipline and partnership with Caicedo gives us so much quality in the game.

Why should you be sorry though. You're not wrong and most on here will agree with you.

Enzo only has his price tag going for him. He's been a monumental disappointment.

Personally think Enzo is better at linking between the defence and attack and has currently shown he has a better range of passing. That being said, overall Lavia offers more than Enzo does in our system and alongside Caicedo they just compliment each other perfectly. I don't doubt that Enzo will go to another league and look a top midfielder, I just don't see him ousting Lavia in this system if he stays fit.

I thought Lavia was out of position for Newcastle's goal and this lead to thier quick attack. With just the two in midfield its important to hold your position.

Maybe why he was substituted?

i imagine fitness is the only reason he was substituted.

The cross not being blocked by any 3 of Gusto/Fofana/Colwill is the only real reason to be upset with anyone for the equaliser.

Lavia had an ok, not spectacular game. I thought he was more impressive against Liverpool than Newcastle. Then again, Enzo was still below Lavia's level when he came on.

Bagged the easiest assist of his career too - 5 yard pass to Palmer who then runs 30 yards and bangs it in bottom left

Nah I don’t think so.

He's building his fitness and the manager is managing his minutes.

Poor today. He was the player who lost the ball when we had possession in the middle, which directly led to the goal. Yes, Sanchez should have done better at his near post, and Colwill was too deep playing the arse onside....but if Lavia hadnt have lost the ball, the goal doesnt happen. Not good enough today.

And he went off seemingly injured again.

Fell into the same trap as every other player this season.

It's really frustrating, because it's not like teams are playing around us and scoring great goals where you have to hold you hands up and say "can't do much about that". Almost every goal we concede is from a very bad error. The majority are avoidable, but Maresca is insistent on passing out of tight situations no matter what.

It's very similar to Sarri's Napoli that he tried to replicate here. The difference in the Premier League is huge though. Serie A teams don't press as relentlessly as Premier League teams, it's much much harder to make it work here. Even Guardiola and Klopp learned that lesson quickly. They used to do the same thing, wait for the opponent to close you down, then play around them out of the back and create an attack. They quickly shifted their tactics at the back and both City and Liverpool would move the ball into midfield before their players were swamped by the opposition.

Yep - for years we have not been progressive enough, nor do we move the ball fast enough.

Possession and drawing people in is fine and dandy - but we need to move the ball so much faster than we do. Same sh*t, different day.

That's a bit of a reach to be honest.

We aren't the only passing team to lose the ball there and it wasn't even that bad of an area to lose the ball in considering we still had the numbers on them defensively. Teams are meant to practice situations like that continuously in training, there are so many things that we did wrong in the lead up to the goal that the pass from Lavia is almost irrelevant.

I can sure you when Enzo is assessing the game he's not going to be complaining about Lavia losing the ball trying to do what he instructed him to do.

Its a tough one.

We probably create more when Enzo is on the pitch but with Lavia it gives Caicedo the freedom to wander and dominate. Yesterday Caicedo was everywhere because he knew he had Lavia to protect the back 4.

if a cm loses possession of the ball in the middle, and in losing the ball, the other team goes to score - then it is only right that they are called out and blamed.

If he was doing his job, he wouldn't have lost possession and cost us a goal. Same is also true of colwill and sanchez for the goal

He didn't look up to speed from the outset. Probably an issue.

Agree. He was way below the level he's shown on his (very few) previous appearances. Caicedo was superb.
