Is it any mitigation to say that if Potter had James then we would be doing much better? We’ve decent when he’s been playing.

If James was fit all season we'd be top 4. Without a doubt in my mind.

He's meant to be a good man manager, if the vast majority of the players don't perform, he's probably already lost half of the dressing room, and we know what's next. People say he hasn't got his own players to work with, Cucurella is one of his, and he's just about the worst player every time we play. Whatever happens for the rest of the season and next, he will stay on just for the sake of not making us a complete laughing stoke. He will get the time and support, but let's not pretend the current downfall is his predecessor's fault, even Lampard got us a 4th spot finish out of nothing.

So much magic money tree thinking on here, no doubt a lingering effect of the RA years. “We’ll just buy x, y and z for a few more hundred mill and everything will be fine”. These guys aren’t RA or the UAE. They have fiduciaries they have to answer to and show profits to - not in 5 years. If they don’t, money will be withdrawn. Their monumental blunder is going to have consequences. They own other businesses in a global economy that is rolling over. They are not going to have the money some people think they are going to have for the players they want.

Incredibly almost half way through the season and the only team above us we have played away is Newcastle, the other 7 teams we are yet to play away.

We’ve played Brentford away too. Drew 0-0.

How much time does Potter need? A good manager will make something happen in 6 months time, is he good enough?

Potter out Thiago Silva in, our own Pep. He would be amazing.

Well said and some fans seem to be missing this. The rate they are spending is unprecedented in football, could be €500m if the Enzo deal goes through. The wages and long contracts are even scarier, these long contracts have a low success rate in European football. These guys are yet to show how they are going to grow our revenue which has slowed down. I do wonder if they are blowing through the £1b stadium & player investment guarantee Roman sought from them to ensure we keep competing, and what happens next when it’s gone.

Well this is the reason we're spending big money on youngsters, of course that is a risk but if the players we've signed fulfill their potential then we won't need to spend £200m+ every season. We've laid out big money on players who are all under 22

Chukwemeka

Casadei

Slonina

Santos

Fernandez (possibly)

Fofana 1

Fofana 2

Badiashile

Hutchinson

On top of that giving big contracts to James and Broja. We're also probably signing Nkunku who's 25. And this is without including our promising academy players like Hall, Colwill, Webster

Hehehe. Fofana 1, Fofana 2. This will never get old 😄

I need more Fofanas!

Well in all fairness to the Sarri-ball video.
I see Eden shining. Comparing our squad to a team with Eden is not fair.
We have nobody even remortely close to prime Eden.
Imagine what Tuchel could have brought with a prime Eden 😍

Makes me happy and sad at the same time!

I am all for giving Potter the rest of this Season and a few more players, having accepted we will win nothing with the current Squad (hoping to tempt fate 😉) UNLESS there was a chance of getting the Don, Carlo Ancelotti back to Chelsea. My favourite all time manager of Chelsea and I am proud to have said at the time that he was sacked, that this would be Roman's worst ever decision. I was right !!

This. I don't get why making signings is suddenly a bad thing now. Would people rather have us waste money on one old players like Lukaku? Or worse not spend at all? Can't have it both ways and complain when the club is spending but also complain when we don't spend.

Porter needs to be playing those players, this is why I am a bit confused about the project here. We are on 25pts, and need 15pts from 22 games to be safe. We aren’t getting CL next season, so there is no reason why he can’t fast track their development now and see who can nail a 1st 18 squad role in the next 4mths. Arteta came in and Saka, Rowe & Martinelli immediately became mainstays in his match day squad, took him less than 10 PL games to ice Ozil permanently.

It’s all well and good buying all these young talents, but they are not magically going to reach their potential by been stuck in the Development squad or riding the bench.

I'd agree with this from a current squad perspective, with our players underperforming we should be giving these players a go. The point I was making was just that new owners vision for the club is around bringing in young talent early and developing them so we don't get caught up in the transfer rat race of spending £200m a season on new players. I think it's a bit unfair and premature to be slating the new owners given how much money they're investing in players and how much effort they've gone through putting together a backroom team. All signs point towards they're in this for the long haul and that the future is bright for the club even if things are a bit rocky now.

Also you talk about Arsenal, he may have brought those players into the first team but how long did it take for them to gel together as a team? With them you're seeing years of work and patience with the manager coming to fruition. If that was Chelsea our fans would have been hounding Arteta out even quicker than some are with Potter
