Talk like this will come back to haunt you. Bookmarked.

I'd prefer Tuchel but there's no way Poch would lead us into mid table the way Potter has. 21 points in 17 games is borderline relegation form since he took over.

A very good and nuanced long-read assessment of Potter's reign so far:

Some questions I have been pondering, given Potter does not see himself as an issue:

Why did it take a complete abandonment of his tactical setup to place Dortmund and Southampton under sustained pressure?

Why are players playing with more fluidity when they are free from your initial tactical setup?

The players didn't abandon his initial tactics, they are always changing tactics in game constantly, that's what Potter does Pep, all of them do it, he makes it sound like without Potters involvement they play better.

Yeah but give the guy enough rope before young hang him.

Spurs were also looking at Potter before hand. That is no measure!

So out of all the things I’ve said about De Zerbi you choose that 😅🤦‍♂️ Christ, thought Shed End had more minerals, giving me talkChelsea/Twitter troll vibes.

He has successfully implemented a Man-City/Arsenal-esc structure at Brighton, shown astute tactical prowess in his setup and in-game management. You can find all the analysis on why he’s been such an upgrade on Potter if you need to do a deep dive on this (appreciate most of us are just casual football fans). Despite not managing a big club, his handling of Trossard is certainly a good sign he can handle the dressing room and keep the players on board during turbulence. He ticks a lot of boxes in regards to our weaknesses under Potter, just incredibly awkward going back to Brighton yet again.

There is little pressure on De Zerbi, Chelsea is in the media spotlight so much more and so we cannot tell how he would perform here.

The other thing is after poaching two consecutive managers from Brighton perhaps it will raise questions about them being a feeder club.

It would be bad form for sure.

We sacked Lampard for 29 points in 19 games, which is far better than what Potter has done. Fans were calling for Sarri's head when we were comfortably top 4.

Any other manager would have been slaughtered by the media if they had Potter's record at Chelsea. I said it in an earlier post, he's the most overhyped and protected manager I've ever seen in football.

Absolutely, I agree, it’s incredibly awkward/embarrassing even humiliating but he is genuinely elite and it’s becoming increasingly obvious he has what it takes. Luis Enrique would be the next shout but he also comes with risk, we’ve somewhat drained the manager pool now. It’s just so unfortunate that Brighton are so good at identifying talent that they ended up with a tactician like De Zerbi and we got the squad building (thanks to Brighton technical directors)/degree in emotional intelligence-man 🙄 Potter.

Is it correct per the media the Daily Torygraph GP is on 12 mill a year on the 5 year agreement ?

If so explains a lot about the new dumb as dirt septic owners !

Dumber than dumb! Our new owners. And to think RA got TT on a 18mth contract, much lesser salary and he was able to win the CL and Super Cup.

Yes. 12m per year. 60m in total his 5 year deal.

Seems the Poch is not interested in a possible relegation fight... or more likely already has a better offer.

Maybe:

"I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end. This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally.

"Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start..."

"The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever. I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart..."

A rescue mission and a chance for them to get to know each other better, "collaborate" and work on the "shared vision" before the summer break would be preferable to bringing in someone unknown and untried at this difficult time?

TT @14/1 in before the Dortmund game for Todd to suck-it-and-see?

Honestly if no other good manger is available, we could just hire a caretaker until the summer. I honestly think we'd play better without any tactics whatsover compared to Potters system.

Totally agree. We just need a decent and most of all experienced caretaker manager until the summer. That way results will improve and we get plenty of time to find a long term replacement. This is how we should proceed. If we try to find a long-term manager now we will likely not find the right candidate which will either result in more Pottery misery or appointing another flop.

On the basis Todd gave Potter the dreaded vote of confidence on Monday, expect him to be sacked next Monday, if we lose to Spurs. Surely Spurs have rarely over recent years had a better chance of rubbing our noses in the dirt.

Vote of confidence pretty much a Roman thing....Roman is doing different things than Chelsea...

I think there are some performance related clauses in that. Has to be. Boehly is using performance as leverage in deals. Boehly knows money, he wouldn't just throw it around.

If you trust the Transfermarkt value data, Boehly has so far spent 612.5m Euros on new players whose current valuation is 445.0m ... so 167.5m has vanished into thin air LOL in a little over 6 months

It's interesting that the summer deals have held up much better than those from January, which is contrary to most people's opinion of the players signed in that window ... Boehly has significantly overpaid for "potential" ... very risky, bit like his manager acquisition LOL

Potter won’t be sacked after the Dortmund game. There’s no reason to by then as the season will be over. Also, after the talk of long term, hiring 3 managers in one season will look daft.

My bet is that he starts next season and he will be assessed then.

If he loses to spuds and Leeds that has to be it surely

If we lose to Spurs, he will have lost three games in a row for the third time in 15 games ... but if Boehly was going to sack him he would surely have done it already, so it looks like we are stuck with him for now.

Spurs is the game we are expected to lose based on form and table position, although I got a funny feeling we may get something out of the game, via some individual magic or sheer luck. Leeds is the danger game, they will come in knowing how other teams around them done the job against us. We have the Dortmound game after that, expecting a few changes to the team for the Leeds game.

Again..make it what you will.. what is good for long term here is players are not against him. Coaches like JM, TT and Conte are usually failing here. They say something you can't take back. Weirdly Pep and Klopp are very good with this.

Concerning here is if some players don't believe his footballing side is up to par. Players like Azpilicueta and Silva have seen a ton of managers and they know who is good and who is not. It all stems from their leadership. Sterling knows what makes Pep such a good manager.

We don't need all this spin coming out of the club, we simply need to see some good football, score some goals and win a few games.

If GP and the team can do that, then everyone is on board with the project, and we can start talking about the football rather than the owner and the manager.
