Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

I am of the opinion that even at Tuchels worst, it wasn't as bad as freefalling like we are now. Sure, he wasn't a world class manager but he was a solid in the tier just below that. Every team in the world, from PSG to Madrid, would clamour for Tuchel because, simply put, he is the best availible manager.

I don't get these comparisons besmirching the good name of our UCL winning manager. It's kind of like in Animal Farm (George Orwell), when the pigs all blame the problems on snowball and use fake stats to try convince the animals that life is better than before under snowball. Very apt that book symbolises the end of the soviet union while a certain Russian left us last year too. The pigs liked making speeches about their f**king vision too.

In his coaching career, Tuchel NEVER showed the form that Potter has shown these past few months. People blame him for sh*t buys but holy sh*t that was before I saw the donkeys that were signed in January.

Sterling and Fofana are going to be important to us because we don't have a better RW (even though nick hate sterling runs like a duck) and Silva can't play every game so fofana is our 3rd best CB if Badman keeps 2nd.

Cucu, KK and Auba were all sh*t buys. Not needed, too expensive and didn't work out. Cucu is the only one who can redeem himself but I don't see how he does that as a backup. KK is a good backup but they shouldn't be on 300k pw, at least he isnt for 8 years. Auba looks set to move on in summer.

My initial thought on the January buys are a lot worse.

Enzo is 80m max in his prime (unless football prices inflate even more and we sell him to Madrid for 200m).

Felix - a shame that our most in form player is one on loan. I don't think we buy him, nkunku takes his place next year. Expensive loan as well but we needed him.

Mudryk has nothing going for him apart from his pace and those little tricks he does, both of which lead to nothing. Massively overpaid for him.

Badman was a steal, I really hope he keeps it up and doesn't regress, especially when Silva isn't there to keep him in line.

So the main problem is overpaying for Enzo, Mudryk, Felix (Cucu, KK, Fofana and Auba) but now we get onto the real donkeys

DDF and Madueke are not PL level footballers. Maybe they will go on loan and change all of that and prove us wrong like Salah and KDB. I doubt it though and feel they fail the eye test. So we are stuck with another 2 donkeyokos on perpetual loan for 8 years.

Oh man. I can't even tell if you are serious about this or not.

Our January signings have just arrived and you already know they will flop even though most were playing much better than the players they replaced? You can't be a Chelsea fan surely? Until Potter is or manager no criticism of players is valid. Especially not of players that are both very young and only arrived a few weeks ago.

Sigh, yet another cheap shot at Tuchel in the Potter thread ...

This is the same season that Timo Werner missed 18 big chances in the PL alone and had a PL shot conversion ratio of 5.7%, which was half that of Patrick Bamford's % for context.

We won't even get into the number of daft offsides he was culpable for.

I doubt there is a manager on the planet that wouldn't have wanted other options to try up front.

And it's not as if Timo is tearing it up back in the Bundesliga either is it ?

Werner is acting like he was the biggest reason why we won the thing. If he would have taken his chances, the final would have been over before half time. He made things harder for us because he sh*t himself every time he had a chance to score, and not just in that one game either, it was for the entire 2 seasons he spent with us. He was so bad at times that his first touch was as bad as Lukaku's. Tuchel had no choice but to try somebody else.

Nkunku is put in front of him by their coach. That is the reason he isn't tearing it up in Bundesliga. Just so you know 😅

Cheap shot by Werner, as much as he denied any bad blood. If he was a half decent finisher, and able to keep on side once in a while, we wouldn't have gone the long way to buy a 100M striker. Lukaku was a disaster, but at the time buying a goal scoring striker seemed a no-brainer, just happened to get the wrong guy.

Poch is Not elite, but at a higher tier than Potter. I don't think he knocked us back in favour of Spurs, I mean how many times does one enjoy to be screwed over by Levy?

Tuchel isn't the answer. We had been playing absolutely dreadful football for the last 10 months he was here. Doesn't anyone remember us getting battered by the most cowardly performance I have seen from a team in that 3-0 thrashing to Leeds? Or how about the 2-1 loss to Southampton? Tuchel was done.

Just give Flick what he wants, including managing both Chelsea and Germany until Euros finish.

Pretty unanimous on here that Nkunku's best position is the same as Felix's, in  a central attacking midfield role, so if The Leipzig manager is opting for Nkunku being played out of his best position at CF instead of Werner, what does that say about Werner ?

Anyone else on here find it amusing that Real Madrid have now scored more goals in England in 2023 than Potter's Chelsea ?

Are you implying we need to score more goals or do you just tip your cap to the mighty Real? Hard to tell 🤣

One horse title race and Spurs? How so? When was Spurs considered a clear runaway favorite to win the PL?

Leicesters achievement was fantastic, however there is no getting away from the fact they did not have a single world class player in their ranks and Spurs had Kane, Son and Llores. With ourselves, City and all the rest imploding it should have been their title, but they blew it.

Kante, Mahrez and maybe Schmeichel in some extent. Vardy is pretty good too.

As expected.

Personally seen enough to suggest Potter doesn't have it in him. Vivell is a lot smarter than me so hopefully he sees something I don't.

Fair points, Kante and Mahrez have proven themselves since as world class players. At the time though I don't believe many would have said at the start of that season they were in the same bracket as Kane and Son.

Now how do you know he is a lot smarter than you?

If anything, at least it saves me a few quid!

Ahha that is the key! We just need to get @Modto start backing Chelsea - 0 each game and we are bound to start scoring!

Please start with vs Spuds Mod:)

Well you make your case sitting on your desk when you should be sitting on a chair at your desk I will give you that. 😉

They are a talented, refined and confident team under Carlo. At the moment, they are everything we are not under Potter. We have individually talented players with a very high ceiling as a team but we need a coach to harness that talent.

I just don't understand why people want Poch to replace Potter. The main reason I've seen here as to why people want Potter out is that he isn't "elite", he doesn't have a record of winning trophies etc. All of those things apply to Poch so what's the point of hiring him? The moment the team's form dips people will use those same reasons to want him out and it will be a vicious cycle of rinse and repeat.

Poch has managed at top level in the PL and done a relatively good job, Potter hasn't.

Conte and Mourinho who are winners didn't win anything at Tottenham, so it's not exactly unique to Poch, he's still their best manager they've had in a very long time and any Tottenham fan will tell you that.

I don't even want to defend Poch, nor would he be my first choice, but if you fail to understand why he's a better alternative to Graham Potter I don't know how to help you.
