Hansi Flick being at Stamford Bridge with a board member on Friday remains interesting to me. He's a top coach and I don't think I have ever seen a team press better than his Bayern-side did. We got the full experience of that when we faced them under Lampard.

My biggest problem with Potter is that I have no idea what he's trying to build. And I am not convinced he's got an idea either.
Last 4 games we've used 4 different formations. The tinkering is constant and there is no time whatsoever for any players to get comfortable in any system. He's throwing things at the wall and sees what sticks but nothing is sticking. And it's been that way since he got to the club with the constant changes and none of them works so i'd love for anyone to explain to me how we can be optimistic about that.

Also if we are trying to build for the future with a back four formation then there is nothing in Potters entire history to suggest he will build a great team with a back 4. To the extent his previous achievements have been impressive it's always been with a back 3/5. So everything is all backwards for me.

I agree.

Furthermore the profile of player that we have recently gone for seem to be way out of his comfort zone or his history. World cup winner and voted best young player of the tournament. Mudryk who looks lightning and very entertaining, but going by body language and early media attention might not look out of place on the set of John Wick. Felix, clearly masterful but effective when used properly. Does Potter have the tools to manage these characters, along with the other 30 odd players each with varying degrees of egos.

I fear that the Flick appearance is purely coincidental as well as i think he probably was watching Havertz, as this didn't clash with the weekend's Bundesliga matches.

And havign seen Musiala's and Coman's goals at the weeked, any thought of Havertz to Bayern in the summer...Please, who are we kidding! BMG maybe to replace Thuram when he goes to Spain.

Amyone but Luis Enrique. Surely there must be an attacking minded manager out there making waves, maybe even one whos worked under Pep.

“Burn down the office” 😢🥺 . I mis the passion of Conte for football .  His fight last year next to the pitch

while Potter will be a gentleman about it “ oh well maybe we get champions league qualification  next year. We will do better ladies “.

if you want a passionate team you have to find a passionate coach first.

Personally I'd never want Conte back, his second season was nothing like the first, his demeanour completely changed and I remember that game against Man City where we basically played walking football which summed it up. Conte can bring brief success but then he falls out with anyone he can which only gives him a shelf life of 2 or 3 years.

Enrique and Flick would certainly get us playing a more attractive style and it's a project I think many could get behind when result aren't going our way.

I still don't know what Potter's brand of football is, or what we're supposed to be now or in the future. Under TT we had an identity, right now we're slightly lost under Potter

He has to adapt to this whole situation, Ranieri had a similar pressure once Abramovich started investing too but at that point he already had the experience of winning things and training big players so despite the long-term project all eyes will be on Potter in no time and specially if we continue to spend in the summer.

Just heard the news that Man City broke like a 100 rules for transfers over a significant time period and they might get some points deducted in a similar fashion as Juventus, I hope we're not doing the same mistakes now and in the summer.

I bloody hope not.

If we get a points deduction like Juve while Potter is still in charge we'll go down!

I don’t think we are in trouble. We are still selling players after all and the long contracts keep us in line with FFP. From what I read, City were actually giving false financial info.

I would like to have conte again, tbh

Eeeeek, No. I mean managers like Conte and Jose are good to bring in for a year or two.  They are bullies.  They will get the team functioning ASAP and they will get rid of the dead wood.  They will also throw out a lot of talent with the dead wood. the baby with the bathwater.  The players will hate them in the end.

Potter is the total opposite and this means he is a little bit weak. Ineffectual. He has no cajones.  what do we like about Potter possession ball? I mean we have 70% of the possession without any meaningful attacking edge? Is that the football  we like to watch? Potter has spent some time with these players on the training ground. What are the tactical highlights and achievements thus far?

The goldilocks effect - the balance - for me was that Tuchel was just right.  Tuchel was transforming us away from a back 5 to a back 4. He knew what had to be done and he was not given the time, because him and Todd did not get along at all.  Tuchel has gone and he aint coming back.

what kind of manager do we need?  what manager can we attract?  Ancelotti type.  Ancelotti? Someone who can be tough but who is not a bully or a blow hard. . .

We have Graham on a long contract. Let him do the job as for now.

If any club had even the slightest hint they could get Pep they're not going to miss that opportunity to back Graham Potter.

Brighton would have sacked Potter on the spot last season if a top coach like Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti or Tuchel said in a presser their ambition was to coach Brighton

We have about 60m going his way it we'd let him go now

And it will be the best £60m Boehly has spent since he bought the club.

There's not a player on the planet We can buy for £600m that would be a bigger upgrade than going from Potter to Pep.

The extra revenue from actually qualifying for the CL in the next 5 seasons will more than cover it

I'd rather stick than Pep. Pep can't find cup finals and his star is fading.

Not that Pep would come here anyway.

Apparently we have hired, on a short term deal, the New Zeland Rugby back to back world cup winning mental development coach to help formulate a winning mentality in the new group.

Maybe getting the likes of Havertz and Mount to do the haka will make them remember how to kick a ball

Maybe. Would be fun seeing the whole year do it ahead of the Leeds game.

Potter agreed on this project but I'm sure he isn't going to demand much at all. Pep would demand more spending on top of what we already want to do, I guarantee it.

Just in case TB does visit this forum can we please keep the noise down about sacking Potter, just for a little while.

Dyche won the tactical battle, against a team everybody has been trying to find weaknesses in; he’s a top coach and deserves all credit. The 451 mid block / temporary 442 when Zinchenko was trying to dictate things matched them up, Dyche had them organised, compact, clear instructions on the press, doubled up on wingers; their midfield was positionally disciplined throughout too. This comes from studying the opposition and game management.

If they ‘couldn’t be arsed’ with Frank that is down to him as a coach as someone trying to relay ideas clearly and implementing them to resonate with the profiles available.

Yup, Sean is a"  very good coach " he   "  studies the opposition" . Something no one else does. And the players attitude had absolutely nothing to do with the result.

And not " being arsed" whoever is in charge or what system is used is absolutely unacceptable.

Has he been out of work since taking Burnley down ? The team that are now apparently playing stylish football that their fans are delighted with ?

Remember when Duncan stepped in at Everton? No tactical changes, just players giving everything for the shirt, the team and the fans.

You must remember his first game ?

Anyway thanks for your reply

Sean Dyche took Burnley to the 7th and the Europa League, on a much smaller budget than Brighton
