June 30, 20233 yr Adding to the speculation, Kendry Paez and Nicolas Jackson share the same agent, who also happens to be the agent for Caceido.

June 30, 20233 yr I watched him live in Australia v Equador sydney and on tv for the Melbourne game. From h2 of the Sydney game he took over the midfield, pressing and driving the Australian team out of the match. I dont think we have had a midfielder like him this century, but maybe Essien is the closest. Actually he is like a bigger Kante more or less. He is only 21 (22 in November) so will fit in with the rest of the team in that regard. He is more powerful than say Gallagher but not necessarily any better with his feet on what I've seen. I was at the game too and had the distinct opposite impression. I thought he was shocking, it was his failure to beat the press that directly lead to Australia's second. It was actually that game that made me doubt what the fuss was all about, but I think it needs to be weighed against the fact he was playing fresh off a plane to the other side of world. Tbf, Parramatta has the same demoralising effect on me so I can only imagine what Moises thought. I agree with your comments about Gallagher. At the end of the day they are all young players and we have to be careful what we wish for; the grass is not always greener on the other side.
July 5, 20233 yr Author Some rumours we have agreed the price with Brighton, 75mill plus 10mill on add ons. Discussions continue on the structure of those payments.

July 5, 20233 yr Wouldn't be surprised if this one drags on well into August. Brighton under no real pressure to sell, Caicedo will join any one of the half a dozen suitors out there. There's a good chance it will turn into a bidding contest. Arsenal ad United maybe out of it, but never know who else will join the bidding.

July 5, 20233 yr It'll get done before preseason. All we know is that both clubs are meeting face to face for this, much like in the latter weeks of January when we closed on Enzo. A Ecuadorian source close to Caicedo's agent said the fixed amount is agreed, all that is left is installment structure and bonuses (which does take time). Enzo, Caicedo, and Santos before preseason I am a happy camper.

July 6, 20233 yr I must admit I don't know anything about Caicedo. Is he going to be another multi-million pounds Brightonian disappointment - looking good for a well drilled team like Brighton - or is he exactly what we need? How do we even know what we need when we have another 5 new players on top of the 30 from last season? Edited July 6, 20233 yr by Valerie

If we somehow fumbled this one as well after agreeing personal terms we'd be in even more trouble. The longer we wait there's more of a chance that City or even Arsenal swoops in for him.

No chance arsenal are interested now rice deal agreed. City have never been linked with him so would be an odd scenario. I'm pretty relaxed the board have generally got deals done so far.

His athleticism is great but I’m unsure of his actual footballing ability. Think he’d be a good signing at 30m but 80m is just wrong. Hopefully we either miss out or I’m proved totally wrong!!!

And the talk now is that Brighton "expect" a fee comparable to what Arse are paying for Declan Rice !!!!! I really hope we give that a wide swerve ...
