Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

When will they finally realise, it was NOT a derogatory song about ( black players). it was aimed at the France national football team, which it implied would be nothing without their AFRICAN players. And it specifically had a dig at Mbappe, because he derided south American football.

I agree with you, and argued this strongly a few pages back.... But let's not start this again....Please respect Mods wishes who specifically asked us not to.

Not trying to start an argument, but it so pisses me off, that everyone just jumps on the bandwagon without actually reading and thinking about what was sung.

You're actually re-starting the argument. The thread was temporarily closed because of it, so please don't re-address the issue.

Players and club have resolved this sorry state of affairs in-house - what we now think doesn't matter as it was sorted between them. Hope Enzo turns up the heat and delivers every single game this season. On on we go.

for me fitting Enzo in is the biggest worry this season. He has to play deep in the midfield to make the most of his long range passing, however from pre-season Lavia seems to offer that and actually be able to run and make a tackle. Be interested to see where Maresca thinks his best midfield combination is at.

First issue is he ain't playing deep to start with. Why does he always end up in advanced positions when he needs to hang back and dictate play?

I don't understand his position or where he's supposed to play atm.

Good to hear this. Best option for him is he and Lavia rotating as that DLP. Or an option if we decide to play the 2 man midfield.

Thank f**k for that.

Took him one game to work out what Poch didn't in a whole season.

Don’t get ahead of ourselves here!  We still haven’t tried him at left wing (assuming Gusto is unable to cover in next pre season game).

Understand the club ended up taking no action and apparently he's now set to be named vice captain.

No action needed and there really isn't any other choice for vice captain now than Chilwell has been banished to the shadow realms.

Reece captain, Colwill vice captain.

Been in Chelsea all their lives, they should be leading the way.

I'm pretty sure Colwill is next in line by default if Reece and Enzo don't play but it's a bit too soon for him to be given the armband.

Surprised. I thought you would have wanted Madueke to get it.

Without restating why I think you are wrong, the club itself said it would use this as an opportunity to educate and that it does not tolerate discrimination.

Turns out that was pure corporate-speak. Who would have thought it.

What's your favourite clearlakeism? Until now my favourite was "we want someone we can collaborate with", but i think "we will use this as an opportunity to educate" is a real contender. Signals active pedagogical intent while committing to absolutely nothing specific, delivered in a haughty and self-congratulatory manner.

The club clearly is willing to tolerate discrimination on the grounds of race and sexual preference, provided the source of that conduct is financially important to the club.

It beggars belief that one of the few clubs who openly admitted and worked so hard to address its racist history have, in the space of two years, excised any remnant of moral fibre or social obligation.

It was not so long ago that this club took further disciplinary action against John Terry after the FA found he used racially offensive language or called out the homophobic "Chelsea rent boy" chants of other fans, but this new management see fit to promote someone who is involved with both to vice-captain.

It's just weak, pathetic behaviour from the board, the kind of conduct associated with people who are too cowardly to affirm basic dignity.

They would sell their own grandmother's down the river for an extra few quid in the pocket.

Some players are treated differently, same in every sport. Too many oversensitive ppl on this planet.

What I'm livid about is why the frank was E Fernandez in west Wales on Boxing day last year?  He was injured, we know how bad driving is for you, obviously he was speeding to get back to be in attendance for the match on Dec 27.

Some major Catholic service down here or what? Has he got family down here? Was he showing off his new son? Whatever, he should have been staying in Surrey, or wherever he lives.

Isn't it Patagonia where Welsh is spoken as a first language? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_Wladfa#:~:text=The Welsh-Argentine community is,put the number at 5%2C000.

Probably seeing some relatives? Or he might know Federico Fernández who used to play for Swansea/Newcastle, might still have a place in the area... Either way, probably should have been resting but not going to worry about a player being in Wales. Nice he's getting out and about seeing the place.

I'm hoping this is the season he shines and we see the best of what he can offer. time to get behind the players and support the team. The owners can jog on but really hope we come out the blocks raging.

Joao Felix would be a great pairing for him, their partnership during their 1st season was great.
