Mate, Luis Enrique has the third worst winning percentage in official games (~50% excluding friendlies) of all our coaches since 1982… and we’ve played really boring football under him after Aragonés or Del Bosque had us playing really good football. And worst teams we had in the 80s and 90s.

We've had one of our worst generations since 1990 or before and still we reached semis (could be final) of Euro and final of Nations League that we could have won

Yeah he was so boring and predictable against teams like Morocco but still made a terrible generation a contender for almost everything

Terrible generation compared to what you had just before them. I don't rate the Spanish National Team of 2021 as bad as you do. Still very talented and one of the top 3-5 in Europe and possibly in the world.

Having said that, I think greatly of LE, especially of him as a man. His style of football may require a bit more time to adjust to though, and strong need of players that can work well with him. I have watched him at Roma when he didn't have those and it was a bit painful to watch (although it was still the start of his career and he only had 1 year, with a completely new team where players didn't know each other and were not a good match for his style of football).

I voted for Postecoglou but he won't get it and it would be a huge step up from Scotland. Sure Ferguson did it but even for him it was hard and probably even harder today. Yet celtic is a big club with high fan expectations and he has delivered as he did in Japan and in Australia and for Australia.

So for me after Ange its Nagelsmann.

I want a manager that can make the team play with a style and who can work on the players individually, getting them and the team to play to its potential.

Semi unrelated but out of interest based on what you've seen for Spain would you be happy if we put our name in the hat for Gavi if his contract situation at Barca can't be sorted?

I’d be happy if we tempted Gavi, but imo I’m not sure that he’d fare very well with the physicality of the PL and he’d need time to adapt (plus I don’t like his antics at Barsa).

Not sure how old are you but we were right bang sh*t in the 80s, even though I adored Thais e players in that decade. In the 90s we never used to make it beyond the quarters and we were right that level. This new generation is definitely better than those of the 90s and 80s and Luis Enrique has one of the worst winning % for 40 years. He also didn’t do with Rome nor with Celta anything that others haven’t done, with Roma he probably did worse than the expected. I don’t know why all this hype about him to be honest.

Think his work at Barcelona is unappreciated. He took a lot of burden off of the midfield and placed it into the front 3 and full backs. He also made them a lot more flexible and turned them into both a possession minded side as well as a counter attacking team.

Cruyff even said Enrique's task to find cohesion between Messi, Neymar, and Suarez would be impossible.

I’m not underrating what he did at the despicable club, but he underperformed at Roma and did nothing extraordinary at Celta. What I’m getting at is that he’s not that world class coach that has won things wherever he’s gone, he’s just won things with a very good Barcelona side. Thus, my concerns about him. Is he world class? I don’t think he’s got the cv to prove it unlike many on here think he has. He can come to Chelsea and win everything or he can flop, there’s nothing in his cv that says “world class”.

Enrique wants to start in the summer and Nagelsmann has contract issues with Bayern.

If Tuchel gets dumped out of the CL and fails to win the league then do Bayern re-appoint Nagelsmann and Tuchel again replaces Lamps.

I wouldn’t be averse to a focused Conte again, proven winner, and if he was winning Boehly would pander to most of his whims…..loved his passion, falling out with Diego signalled the sh*tstorm that ensued….

Yes he is a serial winner but the honeymoon doesn't last long with him. He falls out with the management and/or the players sooner rather than later if he doesn't get things his way and I'd be surprised if he lasts more than 15 months with us.

Assuming it’s the same with Enrique also.

Maybe it's just that-

 1. Bayern would likely demand a huge payout to let him go immediately.

2. Other jobs like Real Madrid and PSG are likely to open up in the summer.

I’m still hopeful we’ll secure a manager before PSG and Madrid jobs open up.

Despite the chaotic start under new owners I still think we’re more attractive to managers than PSG and Madrid. We have so many young players who could become world class, we just need the right manager to take us there.

They may well be, Carlo has been heavily linked to the Brazil national team job.

Anyone think we might take a look at Kompany if for some reason we cant get Nagelsmann or Enrique? Fits the «young and upcoming» profile our owners seems to like and generally has a great standing in football.
He’s probably not experienced enough for us though, but he does have that aura around him that makes me believe he will be an excellent manager. Quite the impressive season with Burnley as well

Nah I can't see it, after Potter the last thing we need is another manager unproven at the elite level and Kompany isn't even proven in the prem.

I want a manager who plays exciting football... You know, one who can get players paid millions to put the ball in the back of the net and who is prepared to drive Polisic, ziyech, Keep, Mandy, Sterling, PEA, KK, Havertz, Kovacic to the airport...

Steve Holland not on that list? Reckon he'd be ideal for the "project"

Yeah agreed, probably the wrong time. Think he’ll become an elite manager, though

100%, crazy how fast he transitioned a Burnley team that had been playing hoofball for over a decade. Honestly wouldn't be against him joining, seems like one of the few ex players that's actually going to become a top class coach.

I'm going to completely change my tune from when Tuchel was sacked and I wanted Zidane!

I think we need Jose or Carlo back, a manager that can apply a quick fix to this team and put this whole 'project' nonsense on hold for a season or two!

I wouldn't want to risk either a too-young manager or one that hasn't a clue about this league, cause we'll probably be sitting in the same boat next season!

Make JT assistant to rally that dressing room and bring one of the old boys back as the boss!
