Perhaps hiring Frank wasn’t the right decision but Potter had to go. He never was the right manager to take us forward. Potter is at least a manager. No idea what Lampard is pretending to be. Would've let Potter go after the Champions League, but in no way would I appoint Lampard.

The curious thing is as sh*t as Lamps is as a manager you'd have thought due to his experience all be it at youth level Joe Edwards would be able to construct something resembling a system. I wonder if Lampard is like Wenger in the sense he gives his coaches next to no input.

When Potter started getting a few favorable results around the time of the Dortmund game, I think it was more because he had settled into a pattern of playing a subset of players regularly, leaving the rest without any minutes. Understandably any new manager is going to revisit the selections, and try some players again. But as Lampard has found out a large chunk of the squad hasn't really featured in any competitive football and is totally lacking in any match fitness. The players that featured regularly under Potter have better match fitness, but in that case we may as well have stuck with Potter. We desperately need to offload 10-15 players, not just to help with FFP but also because our squad is way too big to manage.

I agree to the point but the issue is 60 mins vs Real aside this is largely identical to the crap we were playing in his full time spell post the Sarri training muscle memory wearing off and with many different players to boot. Were we missing anyone other than Kante for much of the season? We also beat Milan with Auba in both legs who Potter then decided to leave out of the CL squad.

It would have been very beneficial to at least have ONE striker on the bench.

April 20, 20233 yr Saw Frank this morning driving on his way to work. Looked like he was in a good mood but didn’t acknowledge me at all. Emma Hayes would have brought me out a coffee whilst I was stuck in traffic…

April 20, 20233 yr Fair play to Lampard for coming back. He is on a hiding to nothing. Third manager in 6 months, an inflated squad with no direction or minerals. But Lampard is clearly to blame, just like Potter and Tuchel before him.

April 21, 20233 yr "I have to acknowledge [the lack of fight] it's the truth, it's hard, it's tough, it's the truth and it can't be -- it's unacceptable," Ten Hag told a news conference. "We showed in the past we can quickly bounce back, we have done it many times this season but we have to start games better, more desire, more composure on the ball. When you get the setback you have to deal with it and carry on. Somebody wrote after real game that football at this level is not about running, desire. It is just about positioning, build up structure and magic. 😂😂
April 24, 20233 yr It is very hard to see any victories for this team in the last 7 games. The team should make it some sort of competition. Give points to players and make it competitive. Best player in the last games gets a car or something. Do something to add excitement and motivation to everyone. On Frank himself I would love if he stayed at the club but not as Head coach. Maybe a coach for just midfielders. Maybe some role in identifying talent. I am sure he wouldn't settle for that but he would have so much to give to the club in that kind of role. April 24, 20233 yr If the new manager is announced soon, he should come in immediately. There's benefit to him getting a few extra weeks to start assessing players and getting his ideas across. And no benefit to leaving Frank in charge when we have someone ready.
