It may be best for Frank to focus on playing a settled side now or bring in a few different players and bench the under performing ones. Play the likes of Madueke, Mudryk, Aubameyang. Is Broja back to fitness yet?

I don’t think it’s enough for Lampard to give the players an individual pep talk then stick them on the pitch and hope it’s going to do the trick. Players need to know what their role is, a team structure, and a formation that works at both ends of the pitch. Salter managed it in his one game in charge. I’ve never seen a game like yesterday where we were so outplayed and overwhelmed. The first half was a total rout. I was stunned Frank changed nothing at half time. What the hell was that about? Utter shambles.

What foundations are you talking about?? We aren’t the first team to undergo a “transition”.. I can’t remember any other team being closed to relegation as they do it.. Pool sacked Woy, United sacked Moyes.. ArsenaL sacked emery.. they all took the right decision just like we did..

potter was inept in all departments. He made some lame tactical decisions, horrendous subs.. the squad needed a striker and he couldn’t convince the board for a striking option.. so clearly he had little to no boardroom influence either..

this narrative that some like you are trying to peddle is devoid of any logic. We had games where we created a lot of chances under Tuchel too.. so I don’t understand this improvement.
1. He had no tactical consistency.. playing odd formations every two matches

2. 7 months into the job couldn’t decide a best first 11.

3. Had no influence on the board to actually use the transfer market to address squad deficiencies

4. made horrendous subs and had no mentality. Didn’t win a single match against teams above us in the table and we were fckin 8th

5. Not a single player improved or showed any confidence

i am glad that very few people for some strange still think potter shouldn’t have been sacked so this is not my problem since majority actually understand this and so did the board.

the fact that you would rather hold on to a belief which no facts can prove is a “you” problem.

Pool sacked Woy, United sacked Moyes.. ArsenaL sacked emery...

- I must have missed the part where those managers came in to a club with new owners, with a whole new board, with no football directors, to a club that is just out of sanctions, during a world cup year, with a single transfer window (winter at that!), with x number of new young and unproven players to integrate, without a pre-season - all whilst being charged with changing the complete direction of the clun (transitioning from short term thinking to long term planning).  If you think that the circumstances are the same - then that is a blinkered you problem.

He had no tactical consistency.. playing odd formations every two matches. 7 months into the job couldn’t decide a best first 11.

- 7 months into a job, where one of those months he was left with 5 first team players. where 7 of those months he was without our best midfieldier. Where 5 of those months we had one of the worst injury lists of the last 10 years. Where in 1 of those months he was dropped a handful of youngsters to integrate - and despite an uptick in performances, only had 2 months to work with those youngsters.

Had no influence on the board to actually use the transfer market to address squad deficiencies

- I must apologize. I didnt realise you were part of our set up and have such inside info or knowledge of what influence Potter did or didnt have, or what planning/conversations were being had about strikers.

made horrendous subs and had no mentality. Didn’t win a single match against teams above us in the table and we were fckin 8th.  Not a single player improved or showed any confidence

- Fully agree. Some of the subs (Leicester and Everton spring to mind) were poor. Our win rate against teams above us was also poor. But then - this all comes back to short term 'WE WANT RESULTS NOW' thinking. The fact that we had the 2nd or 3rd best defence with players who were not showing confidence is testamant to the direction. The fact that we had started controlling games despite having players that did not show confidence is signs of progress. The fact that we were creating more chances than at any other point in the last 3 years despite players not showing confidence (or being able to actually score) was another pointer and step forward.....Not my fault that you didnt want that and stamped your feet for a return to the instability that caused this mess int he first place.

Carlo just stated he is staying at Real assuming the board lets him stay. No team Brazil for him then.

That was in answer to a question at a Madrid press conference. What else did you expect him to say?

Real Madrid want the young aggressive German manager.  We do not need another bully at this stage. No Jose. No Conte.

Carlo seems like he want to go to Brazil. But why? Such a mess. Neymar's ego alone is a nightmare.

At Chelsea we need the stability and the authority of Carlo Ancelotti.  IF we have Carlo at least we will have one person at the club who truly knows the game. A proper authority. A decision maker and a man capable of managing petulant young millionaires.

I don't know whether this squad is ready for Carlo or will do well for him. Carlo is a manager that does well with players that already know what they're doing like our previous Chelsea squads in the past, a lot of players in our current team are young and lack direction, they really need someone who can micromanage them to their best.

This article from Frank does sound like an excuse, however, watching us play we do look leggy and way behind the other teams we play, they always seem to want it more and have a lot more energy.

So it begs the question, what the f**k was Potter doing for 6 months?!

Frank is not the best of managers, but as a former elite player and manager for few years, if he calls something wrong about a team, it's most likely to be true. Whether he will be able to fix it in short term is another story. It's a no-win situation for him, everytime we lose he will be called out , people quickly forget he's only been in for 10 days. Why did he take the interim job is still puzzling me.

That side he selected today was a real head scratcher as were some of the subs.

Who do you want Lamp to start?

I give you some restrictions though

Cannot start : Mount , silva, James (need rest), kante, kai n Mendy.

Need to start

Sterling (need to get some sharpness).

I usually say this kind of stuff is bs but we always drop off in the 2nd half under Potter

So a recap of things

Positives:

-Only one long time injury (Broja) and a shorter term injury (K2)

-We are playing in the Champions League last 8 with a chance of going through. Small, but still a chance. Arsenal for example doesn't have this chance.

-League and this season is on its last legs.

-We have a ton of new exciting players. Enzo, Mudryk, Badiashile to name a few.

Negatives:

-We are losing games

-We are not scoring

-The football is mainy bad

-Our players are not at their physical peak which sounds alarming. Frank just told this.

-Owners look to be out of their depth.

-We don't have a coach yet for next season.

-Our squad is missing key ingredients.

-Lukaku is coming Back.

I agree with everything apart from this one. I think they learnt their lesson quickly with the rash decision to appoint Potter. They've recruited an experienced board since then acknowledging that they aren't the ones that should be making big footballing decisions and are now doing a thorough recruitment process to ensure we actually get the right guy this time around.

With the recruitment in January we had a solid strategic plan that we won't know if it's worked for a few years so we'll judge it then.

Badiashile and Enzo already look excellent, still early days on Mudryk but he's showing flashes of his potential

I understand Silva, Kante & James being rested. But I wouldn't be starting Pulicic or Sterling when we have the likes of Mount, Madueke & Chukwuemeka available and Ziyech should not be getting ANY minutes at this stage. Unfathomable IMO.

You forgot that according to the Guardian, everything that we have done since the turn of the century is worthless and fake because apparently the club has been a laundry for Roman's dirty money, and the establishment are loving every minute of the clubs embarrassing decline to the point of extinction.

I'm off now to register the domain name of afcchelsea.com for when everyone's new best friends, the Qataris come knocking

I'm surprised AFC Chelsea hasn't already happened. But I suspect it is inevitable sooner or later

Not quite true that, we were knackered after 20 minutes....

It also hasn't been that way only recently. Something has felt off with the player's fitness all season, even under Tuchel. Seemed to start with that awful pre-season and only got worse from there. I wouldn't be surprised if the bad run with player's injuries was connected too.

Does anybody know the last Chelsea manager (interim or permanent ) who lost their first 4 games? because barring a miracle similar to feeding 5 thousand with a few fishes and 5 loaves of Hovis, that honor seems destined to befit Super Frank tomorrow.

It's a shame he's had to lower his stock further by becoming interim, but I empathize completely, its a job offer one simply cant turn down. I know sweet FA about managing/ coaching a club like Chelsea, unlike it seems a lot of knowledgeable posters on this forum who are offering up their critique of his performance to date above, but if Todd & Co came a knocking Id be up for it........

Pretty sure this is true as we are always second to the ball rarely win at battles always look weak and lack energy. So I totally believe this.
