Like the rest of us extremely relieved that we’re not going down, and all those opposition fans who were praying for it to happen can go f#ck themselves. I saw on AFTV who they thought would be a threat next season and we weren’t in the equation. If we don’t win the league in the next few years so be it .The things we’ve done these last 20 years compared to nearly going down to division 3 when I started going to games? I just want to see us truly competitive again.

May 7, 20233 yr Some interesting point from this game. If we keep back 4, thiago is a problem. Enzo is more comfortable playing with a partner rather than being left alone. 4231 should be our default system for next season. Madueke need to practice crossing with his right foot. Murdyk need a lot of work. Both defensively and offensively. Last, kai is a talented player but he is not a 9. He can receive the ball high, move side to side but he can't hold the ball and he is not a goal threat at all. I am not even sure he is a better st than solanke. The fact that tuchel disposed two st for kai is bizzare. If Madueke continue like this my lineup for next season St Mount - Nkunku/kai - Madueke Enzo - kante/dm Chilwell - Badi - Fofana - James Gk We can get Chilwell to push up high and wide with Mount tuck in.
May 7, 20233 yr Noticed two of our goals came from crosses, one from Kante to Gallagher and the other from Ziyech to Badiashile. It is a while since we put in decent crosses think the last time was early on in the season before James was injured. We got lucky with the Silva challenge that VAR looked at, looks like Silva never touched the ball yet their player kicked his foot, still sure we have had many decisions go against us this season. I only noticed after the BBC looked at it in detail on MOTD.

May 7, 20233 yr The fact that Solanki didn't even appeal for a penalty said a lot and the way he went down, it was minimal contact. Pretty sure contact in the box was allowed. Of course when slow motion on VAR, it looked a lot worse than what it really was. So I reckon for once VAR got it right, not a clear and obvious error
May 7, 20233 yr Lost my ffing internet and we get a win! Did the boys give everything? Just watched the highlights - great goals We can laugh again. Edited May 7, 20233 yr by Bebe1980
May 8, 20233 yr It's amazing , if you put the ball in the box then you can score . Lets see if the penny has dropped on Saturday cos another win would be awesome .
May 8, 20233 yr Make the obvious to me point that Gallagher adds a scoring threat when playing in midfield. He is not a forward. Why I advocate a 4 3 3 Also the equally obvious to me point that as brilliant as Silva is the the sooner we move him out of the team and get on with the future the better off we will be. Results might get worse (if possible) before they get better but its time. Mudryck is yet to show what he can do but I am still fairly/very hopeful he will. Think he is a confidence player that needs steady minutes to get his thing happening. Unfortunately none of our managers has been able to work out a good front three and play them consistently. But with Kante, Enzo and Gallagher we have a competitive midfield that will create chances and maybe even finish them. RLC makes a fine utility wing back. Probably his best position in this squad.

As much I like Gallagher and have defended him many times, I don't think it is a good idea to build your team around galalagher.

I can agree with that, yet I think our team will do better when we have goal scoring, hard working midfielders. We didn’t build the team around Ramires but we did well when he was there. Did we build the team around Lampard. Certainly he only worked in a 4 3 3
May 8, 20233 yr I don’t agree. Mount is a fine player but I feel Gallagher will end up with more goals.

Mounts goal & assist tallys prior to this season say otherwise, unless Gallagher develops further himself I don't see it happening. Plenty of opportunities for both though next season, healthy competition in the squad.

He is one of the few commoditiies that we have that we can move on and gain soem money to ease FFP without it really hurting us.

May 8, 20233 yr I like Gallagher, he's a bit raw but I'd much rather him in the team than Kovacic etc

Certainly he only worked in a 4 3 3 A goalscoring midfield is always welcome but in term of how we want to build this team, you move gallagher to the side and try to fit in the player that you want build around first. If after that, you see that a hardworking goal scoring midfield is what you need, Gallagher is a fantastic option. Let's say we play 4231. Is Nkunku better as that 10 or on the LW. Let's just say LW. What kind of a 10 do we want? A gallagher or a Mount or a Kai. It will depend who is the st, etc2.
