So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

I imagine they don't want to announce in the middle of the mess that is this season. They are probably waiting for the season to end so he has a completely clean slate.

What's the use of it hanging over our heads when it's merely a formality by all accounts. The players, fans, owners, Lampard, everyone knows Pochettino is coming in. Delaying it doesn't make any sense unless we're talking to atleast 1 more manager.

But Pochettino developed all of them to the levels they were. Levy never injected quality to match the standards that Pochettino needed to freshen up the squad, which reflected on the poor performances the season he was sacked.

This sh*t right here needs to change.

have you ever look at the stats vs big 6 from Pochettino? This wont change anytime soon under his management lol

Away from home maybe but I'm fairly sure he has a strong home record against 'big six'.

Off the top of my head i can only remember two losses both of which at Wembley but I could be wrong.

Nkunku

If we start the swaps with that lineup I won’t be too disappointed at all.

Quietly confident with this appointment, I'm sure Pochettino is an intelligent man and has asked for certain assurances. There shouldn't be anywhere near the amount of interference from Boehly and Co next season.

A settled pre season, where we identify key targets I would assume reasonable players we are actually likely to get who fit Pochettino's style. What a lot of people seem to be forgetting is as bad of a season we've had he will arguably have a bigger point to prove than the players.

It's his second big appointment I won't count Spurs, he won at PSG but there's always been questions from pundits and rival fans about his ability as a coach despite winning in France. Some see his time as a flop there and point to his lack of trophies at Spurs. I'm sure he knows that despite the new vision this is still a club where there is an expectation to win.

I think he sees this job as a combination of the Spurs and Paris job it's a comfortable mid ground between success and building a long-term project. It's an ideal situation for a coach like him. He's proven that he can compete with the best managers in the world. I would expect a top 6 finish next season if he gets the players he needs. At the very minimum this is a Europa League team with a 20 goal a season striker.

It is strange hearing so many doom and gloom.  Just get a proper manager with good pre-season, we will get to top 6 next season easily.

Top 4 is whole another story because we have massive hole in gk, st and midfield (Kante will get injured).

You know what funny we had the exact same problem (except st, we had Tammy back then) under lamp 1st stint.

I would plan on a team without kante. Yesterday's hero, the dogs have barked and the caravan's moved on.

If we don't have Kante and then a midfielder who can defend is another priority position. You can't sign project for this 3 position though.

All of them has to be ready now.

Our dm will play next to Enzo who is still learning defensively. Our st need to be ready to lead the line and score goals straight away and no big team want a developing gk.

There is no real backup for these three position. No longer we have a Giroud when Tammy is struggling or Azpi when Reece is struggling.

Kepa is bad gk and I have no idea what happen to Mendy. We have 0 midfielder who can defend except Kante and Zakaria. Our st situation is we have a fake st in kai, auba who I have no clue why we signed him in the 1st place, a young st who has just recovered from freaking acl and lastly a st who is the rawest player I have seen playing in Chelsea jersey.

You've been saying that for the past 3 or 4 seasons and yet whenever Kante does play he virtually always delivers and is the best player on the pitch. His performance levels are so consistently high it's unreal.

Yes his injury record has been poor, so have James and Chilwells. But like them he still has a value for us moving forwards. Especially with so many young players. Is there a more model professional and world class player they could learn from? I don't think so.

This is the problem of letting Kante go. You have to sign a rice/caicedo or a casemiro. You have no room for another developing player.

And we finished top 4. Every single season till Potter came. Our problems are not as big as people make them, just a proper manager that knows how to make a team out of a very talented squad.

That was a big surprise though.

This season has been a total mess and it was the same with mou downfall. It is all about what you do in the summer. Crazy transfer and crazy pre season =crazy season.

I still believe that if we get 2 new key signings that in turn work out well, that we could be a top 4 team pretty fast with Pochettino.

It's impossible to replace Kante, it's hard to find a proper striker, it's hard to keep some key players healthy... But that's just life, some things simply need to go our way and it's possible.

Lots of reasons for optimism with Pochettino, Nkunku hitting the ground running along with a proper striker and Sterling back firing and the attack looks good. The defense is already decent and given proper structure should flourish.

The biggest area for improvement is midfield which has lacked creativity for far too long. We need new energy and a proper DM and another CM would go a long way to getting us challenging the top places in the league. Surround Enzo with a player of the similar ability level but in a more defensive role and we will have a great engine room.

Also need a world class keeper, Kepa and Mendy have had their good moments, but I don't think any of our fans are completely sold on either. We could really do with some quality. Apparently we're linked to Navas and I'd say go for it he's quality.

My feelings too. We’re three players away from being a top side, a keeper, a striker that knows where the onion bag is, and a midfielder to compliment Enzo. And I would take a look at Santos and Casadei to introduce them slowly into the first team too.

I am more relaxed about next seasons as I have zero expectations and it’s a season to get a identity going and finish as high as possible. Season two is where I want to see good progression from Pochettino and the players.
