Sure keep him on as a role model but he isn't going to be playing regularly. On the one hand every complains about the team not being fit like Matt Law says in the Telegraph and the next you want to keep all the injured players. When Kante came from Leicester it was the best thing that happened to Chels in years but we really do have to forge a new team, a new identity develop some new heroes. We are going to be carrying some injury prone starters James, Chilwell and Fofana. How many injured role models do you want. The reality is we have to find a way to win the Premier League with the players we put on the pitch. Those players have to bond and form a battle hardened and battle ready unit that is more than the sum of the parts. To me this means that its going to be like 15-16 players that are going to get most of the minutes in the 38 game league season. Kante, Fofana, Chilwell and James are on paper 4 nailed on starters. But we will spend most of the season making excuses for everyone else just waiting for the stars to rescue us but they wont. Because they will be injured. Isn't it just like an old car? Every time you spend some money to fix that last problem only to find a month later there's another one and at some point you just have to throw it out. The only way that isn't true for those 4 is if there is clear evidence that some procedure or other thing will make a real difference. Or if there is some clear evidnence that better training and fitness regime will prevent the soft tissue injuries. Great post. It hurts but I think you're right. We have to move on. But we need a few less kids with potential and flakes. We need a couple of battle hardened seasoned pros in there. 28 year olds that have got experience at the fag end of cups and season ending matches when it matters

We need players that still have so much more to give but also have experience on their side.
May 29, 20233 yr We’ve fallen msssively, not only in results, but fitness, attitude, manner of performance, and from all we hear everything behind the scenes. Give him pre-season and some time. This is a rebuild and we need to change the way we play. I’m comfortable with the appointment and don’t think there are many better available. Nice to actually look forward to his tenure.
May 29, 20233 yr I think that there may be some medicine for us to take this close season but we are just going to have to trust him. I can see Chalobah, Loftus Cheek, Hudson Odoi, Maatsen, Gallagher and Mount all being sold this summer. All homegrown all pure profit. Thus should meet or get near to FFP. This should allow us to trade out the other more easily. Ziyech, Koulibaly, Cucurella, Kovacic, Kante, Havertz, Azpilecueta. I think he'll keep Pulisic, which I find a little strange and I think he may well try to persevere with Lukaku which is bordering on bizarre as he clearly doesn't want to be here. I still think he is a better option than Vlahovic who looks destined be the next striker flop if we signed him. For me Mitrovic is such the affordable and natural option that I am sure this won't happen.

May 29, 20233 yr 2 years with a club option for a 3rd year. Seems smart hopefully does well in first year and we can build towards a title charge in his 3rd season. I would be happy with a top 6 finish next season, then hopefully win Europa League and make top 4 in his second season topped off by a title push in the 3rd. Optimistic and hopeful yes, but definitely plausible and do able with the right recruitment and if Pochettino is a good of a coach as some of us believe Edited May 29, 20233 yr by LongtimerLurker
May 29, 20233 yr Well - there we go. Good luck Pochettino. Let's hope you can turn water into wine and part seas.
May 29, 20233 yr Am all behind Pochettino, every single fan needs to get behind him and forget any past associations he needs the fans behind him. Am glad the owners weren’t involved and it was the sporting directors!! UP THE CHELS!!!!!!! Edited May 29, 20233 yr by El regreso
May 29, 20233 yr Two year contract is sensible. And not a word about "collaboration and innovation" in the statement, how can you not be happy with that!
May 29, 20233 yr A safe appointment in my opinion. As much as we hate to say it, his body of work at Tottenham was outstanding short of winning anything. I thought he did reasonably well at PSG, but the massive egos at the club was always going to be his undoing there. The aim in the first season is top 6 and a good run in cup competitions. Our players more than anything need structure, guidance and proper world class coaching. I can only wish Pochettino the best of luck. If he wins a trophy, imagine the meltdown from North London 😜
May 29, 20233 yr Interesting that he didn’t get a 5 year deal like Potter. Clearly Bohley has learned his lesson.
May 29, 20233 yr Definitely right appointment who I think will do well. He has overachieved at all his clubs (bar PSG but he won what he needed to). At Spurs, half of the England team was from spurs so I think it shows his work. I think we’ll have a good season and I’m optimistic. We need to get the squad balance right and making FFP will clearly be a co consideration. I suspect there will be a casualty somewhere.

May 29, 20233 yr Welcome Mauricio we are all behind you sign a striker and get back to basics best of luck 🤞
May 29, 20233 yr The most important thing will be to clear out the squad as fast as possible, if we're going into pre-season games still with a squad of 30+ (with multiple players not wanting to be here), then I think we're in for another long season The problem is how many of our deadwood players will actually be in demand, I can't see clubs lining up to sign the likes of Ziyech and Aubameyang at this point Edited May 29, 20233 yr by Drogba1

Going to be a very aggressive summer based on reports.
