All this talent we are buying for a lot of money from all over the world will likely stall our own Academy and block the potential pathway to the first-team for many of them which is why some of our brightest Academy talents are either hesitant about extending or have already left.

Yep. We've signed some really useful looking talent. Perhaps, the talent we have in the academy will supplement that 600 million outlay. We already know some of that outlay was wasted and the club have moved players on, which is really the right thing to do.

That's the point of the post as written here matey... "I hope the Pochettino continues to dip into the talent pool that is the Chelsea youth and hence why I think it is really important to keep blooding young academy players"

Its something the board really need to have a long think about. ie: when Pochettino wants a player, the first thing to ask is do we have a ready made / developable player in the youth team we can promote? The pathway needs to be kept open imo

I agree that season was fantastic. Attacking gung ho football with kids was fun. But this upcoming season we simply have way have no spot for any kids

3 GK

Cucu/maatsen/Chilwell/Hall

Silva/Fofana/Chalo/Colwill/Badi

James/Gusto

Enzo/Conor/Cuku/Santos/Casadei

Nkunku/Sterling/Murdyk/Madueke/CHO

Borja/Jackson

We are absolutely loaded in every position.

7 academy players in that lot mate. 😉 pretty good effort really. Hope we see more come through only on merit

No it won't.

We brought a series of young players last season to and who was the most trusted youngsters by Potter/Lampard? Academy product Lewis Hall!

None of which were leftbacks and most of them hadn't even arrived at the club yet.

Highly talented english lads from the Academy is literally leaving because they feel their path to a opportunity with the first team is blocked. And if you want some names you can check out Simons (Tuchel debut at 18) , Mothersille, Soonsup-Bell (debut under Tuchel at 17), Tudor Idowu and more.

Those 4 players are all better than several of the youngsters we've spent money on.

Hall was moved into midfield eventually by Potter and would likely have played there more had the Enzo move failed, where there is competition from the new toys brought.

Actually it was reported a few days ago that Tudor's future is not that clear cut.

And like I've already told you, Jude was out of his depth as soon as he stepped up to U23's, infact I apologise if I'm wrong but didn't you make that very point when someone criticised Tuchel for not promoting him fulltime?

Jesus you don't half make a stretch sometimes. We get it. Everything is sh*te now. Everything was sunshine and rainbows with Tuchel as manager. Wouldn't mind asking Billy Gilmour if he felt Tuchel gave him a fair go.

Didn't say that did I? I actually have hopes that Pochettino may do something here.

But on the Academy it's a fact that several have been worried about the club seemingly going a bit overboard in terms of bringing in talents from abroad while overlooking some of those we already had/have.
How many right wingers have we brought in now for example? Actually haven't counted but surely it must be at least five at this point.

Signing youth attacker is very normal. It is extemely difficult for academy to produce attacker.

If anyone from the academy is giving up when "youth" is seemingly being given more importance than at any time in the last 20 years, then they are clearly the wrong stuff for CFC !

And despite all the signings, it is still quite likely that we will have 6 or 7 Cobhamites in our first team squad when things settle down ...

TBF we were doing the same thing under Roman. We were buying top young talent like Courtois and co to supplement our academy and it worked well. Don’t think anything will change here, anyone who is good, academy or purchased talent, will get into the first team or we can sell for profit.

I think the bigger picture in this fire sale is that although individually, these are good players, collectively we were a mess of an unbalanced team.

Agree completely. Where its not uncommon for clubs to end up with a squad of players bought for different managers, we've got (had) a squad of players bought for different managers by different owners with different visions. Mistakes consistently made by all parties have led to this. No doubt we'll have let go a couple that will make us regret it but if its going to work with Pochettino this feels like the best way forward.

No one knows Havertz best position.

Mount is being played on the wing.

Kovacic doesn't have any attacking or defensive qualities.

People still can't differentiate if Kante is a DM or a box to box.

Jorginho is the slowest and weakest holding midfielder in the world who needs a lot of accommodating.

Pulisic is physically weak.

Ziyech is one dimensional and physically weak.

Sentiment aside, this fire sale needed to happen.

...and in all probability remain so, despite having spunked up close to £800m. When you put that amount into proper context we should really be challenging for the title!

He’s lifted my mood immeasurably for the new season!!

He was a tough player that put in a shift especially coming from Argentina, if any player don’t put in a shift then they are out and we needed that big time.

100% It's usually nice to have one or two players that are versatile in a team but it almost feels like alot of our players beyond the defence in the last few years haven't had a defined role or position.
