At least before they were injured both Nkunku and Chukwumeka as well as Mudryck wanted to play on left or central. Palmer coming in may change that. Also another good reason to leave a player in the one position is the partnerships they form for instance Sterling and Gusto/James. A good coach will, in my opinion, want to foster those partnerships and need a good reason to break them up.

On the negative side, £40+m is a lot of money to pay for a lad with only 19 Premier starts for City. But as said by others, he fits the profile of the majority of our signings. Definite ability for Poch to develop. I am quite excited by this !! 3 premier starts, the rest off the bench. Just got to put the faith in Joe Shields with this one. Palmer has actually started the season well, so hopefully we throw him straight in against forest and hits the ground running.

No chance - every Chelsea signing needs 3-4 weeks conditioning before we put them near the first team! I'm sure part of that also includes reducing their ability to shoot.
August 31, 20232 yr We've essentially just funded City's transfer for Jeremy Doku, who's one of the best dribblers in Europe, and the same age as Palmer. I know Poch is good at developing players but if this isn't a signing he specifically requested then this is worrying.
August 31, 20232 yr For me this is the most exciting signing we’ve made this summer. The lad is a special player.

September 1, 20232 yr https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/transfer-news/staggering-some-at-chelsea-think-they-already-have-a-19-year-old-who-is-as-good-as-cole-palmer/ I really don't get this. Surely our priority should be a centre forward who can provide cover for Jackson? I've said it before, if Jackson gets injured we are right back where we were last season with no viable centre forward. And we all know how that ended up.

I guess they are pinning hopes on brojas comeback at this point. 🤔
September 1, 20232 yr If there is any truth about his off field life we might have another Ross Barkley/Danny DontDrinkWater here.

September 1, 20232 yr I’m tired of all these stupid takes on Cole Palmer. We could’ve, should’ve would’ve shut up, they will all look like idiots after a while. Edited September 1, 20232 yr by azpi28

September 1, 20232 yr Well, it’s done and he’s signed. I have no idea if he’s good or not, and that applies to many of our recent signings. But I sure as hell can’t figure out our strategy. It looks like an utter chaos of expensive youth players. Also, is he currently injured or waiting for his first appearance for us to get injured?
September 1, 20232 yr Welcome Cole! Hope you well here. Re: on the outside pitch worries. This is a new start and environment to him. Time will tell whether these stories are bullsh*t or he finds London a bit overwhelming to live as a young man. Anyway we need to back him and hope things go well.
September 1, 20232 yr A hard one to get excited about ... and especially for the money paid. Good luck to him anyway 🙂
September 1, 20232 yr One of the reasons this is a good signing. Fits the requirements that Poch stated a couple of days ago
