June 7, 20251 yr Is not getting in the game at all for England today. Playing in the no.10 role, but just looks lost and struggling to make real impact. Madueke on other hand has been England's best player.

Palmer hasn’t really stood out in an England shirt, he has 2 goals (1 pen) & 1 assist in 12 appearances. Bellingham for all the criticism and shuffling around has 6 goals + 10 assists in 43 games. Shifting him to the right is also a non starter as Saka is the better player, even the numbers back this up; 12 goals + 8 assists in 43 games. I just wonder with Kane constantly dropping deeper into the 10 role, Bellingham who has thrived in that role of getting beyond the False 9 into the box might be a better solution. Tuchel is never dropping Kane. In the short term, Palmer is probably better off coming off the bench.

The thing that was concerning was England are playing a country who had lost 123 of their 133 qualifying games and are basically sh*t and looked so average. You would of expected more from the likes of Palmer. He was really average.
June 8, 20251 yr Palmer has been poor since Christmas other than the odd moment of brilliance. Quite concerning if I'm honest.
June 20, 20251 yr The longer he plays under Maresca, the more ordinary he looks. I genuinely don't see how Palmer even registers many goals or assists next season. A combination of being overplayed and having a sh*te manager that has done everything he can to take Palmers game out of him has resulted in Palmer looking like a player that wouldn't look out of place in a team playing in the bottom half of the league.
June 20, 20251 yr Nowhere near what he used to be, his level has completely declined this year, bar a couple of games.
June 20, 20251 yr Have to agree. He’s having little to no impact on games all too often now. Hes looking frustrated also. Takes me back to the conference league final where he admitted he had enough of going back.
June 20, 20251 yr Until Maresca is gone he will continue to perform like this under this twat of a coach!!!

I don't see us ever seeing the best of Palmer again under Maresca, same goes with many other players in this squad. Estevao will never grow under Maresca because he will stunt his growth. Caicedo and Cucurella will eventually burn out. I don't see how Maresca ever gets the best out of this group.

Bare in mind for first half of season, he was only playing once a week as he was left out of Conference League group stages squad. Maresca is to blame, but Palmer just needs to get his spark also. His pace was never an issue before as he had so much guile and intelligence to get the better of his man, but that seems to have disappeared recently. The conundrum is also about what his main position is. A lot of people say he should play out wide, but yesterday looked lost, while when he is no.10, then he doesn't get the free role as much. When he is out wide, he does not have the pace to beat his man but then has more of a free role but his best performance have come in the no.10 role but looks lost their in recent games. The style of football is no coincidence but for his level, he should be doing a lot better than he is.

He hasn't been involved in every game, but he's still constantly been involved with football in some way. The constant media attention is a distraction too. He hasn't had a break in a long time. I always think this kind of thing is dangerous with young players. I've seen them burn out and never recover. I always feel like it's better to get away for a bit and refocus.

I don't think he's actually had a break since signing for us.

June 23, 20251 yr Apparently he has 1 non-penalty goal in 2025. Not sure if true as haven't checked, but he's definitely lost a step when it comes to goals. But he is still showing his ability to come up with moments of magic to assist the team. The problem is, we have nobody else who can come in and help take the pressure off him. We need more creativity in the team. Nkunku showed absolutely zero during the season, which is massively disappointing and limits what we can do as a team. Palmer shouldn't have so much pressure on his shoulders given he was never supposed to be the main star at Chelsea. It could be a mix of things, but I do think a good amount of rest would benefit him.
June 23, 20251 yr Maresca is coaching the fun out of the game for him. Was watching loads of old Euro's and clips, Cole putting Ronaldo in his back pocket etc, Gaza, Figo and the type of players alive and entertaining us before data killed football. Palmer is old school entertainer and just doesnt belong in this era, a good manager would spot this and build a side around him and ask him to thrive with his ability rather than turn inwards or to our keeper and play a safe pass... Love it when this lad is on song and smiling, not been doing enough smiling second half of season
