This!! I hate international breaks absolutely pointless scrap the games in the season and play them at the end of the season or have 6 weeks in the season where all the games are played and be done with it.

I said the exact same thing a few months ago. International breaks takes up so much of the schedule, especially in the early months. If they moved all of them to the end of the season, you could get through a much bigger chunk of the domestic season.

But players like Nkunku and Lavia were out before the season even started, made an appearance and couldn't even play the full 90 before they got injured again. James couldn't finish the season opener and after missing months made a brief appearance and is out again. Chilwell is in and out constantly, Fofana hasn't had a consistent run of games since his Leicester injury, Chukwuemeka has barely played and has been out forever. We used to play in the CL every season, now we don't and yet we somehow are debilitated by long term injuries that players don't seem to be able to recover from. Something's not right.

We signed the first 2 players that you mentioned when they were already injured. So we weren't exactly helping ourselves.
January 12, 20242 yr We're going on 18+ months now of an injury list that would compete in the division. This has to be improved - noted in the Nkunku thread was the comment that not every player can be made of glass. The injuries have prevented us from fielding an anywhere near first choice 11 for too long. Its exhausting, and reached a point that every match you expect another one to go down. Also, the amount of setbacks during recovery is just poor.

Also, the amount of setbacks during recovery is just poor. It seems to be mostly the same players getting continually injured for the most part. While I am delighted to see Carney, Chilwell, and Badiashile close to returning, I am dreading the first time they go down with a knock. Sadly the outcome feels inevitable with a number of our players.
January 12, 20242 yr With the modern player, I’m waiting for the first player to be out with wallet strain!!
January 12, 20242 yr Our bench against Boro was ridiculous. Poch could only bring Mudryk and Broja on. That was it. Rest was unproven kids.
January 12, 20242 yr Petrovic James Fofana Colwill Chilwell Caicedo Enzo Palmer Nkunku Mudryk Jackson Arguably our strongest XI post Silva. You could say Badiashile over Colwill but we won’t see this lineup until probably next season. Crazy. Edited January 12, 20242 yr by rtwelch
January 12, 20242 yr Look I think Poch should be sacked. However there needs to be a Royal Commission into how Lavia and Wes Fofana were ever bought. And I would say that not enough care was taken with Nkunku and Carney. Carney carried an injury half of last season. I could understand Nkunku and Carney but the Lavia and Wes Fofana things are unacceptable. Fofana was examined in England and clearly didn't do all that well because a second opinion in the USA was sought. Just too risky. It's why I am against Osminhem. At least bloody Disasi and f*** Jackson and for the most part D**head Sterling stay fit.

Gusto, Disasi or Silva and Gallagher as replacements, argument for Sterling over Mudryk.
January 19, 20242 yr Never like to see injuries on the field but with Salah out let us see how pool cope .. its easy to criticise other clubs but all the boasting by them let’s see how good slobzai and Nunez and gakpo are now..

Remains to be seen if Salah has a bad injury. He will be gone for the next few weeks with Afcon most likely though.

I'm often a bit suspicious when Salah suddenly pulls up injured. It never quite looks totally genuine and often looks like he just wants to get off the pitch. Be interesting to see how serious this is, bet its not going to be three months out though like our blokes

Be interesting to see how serious this is, bet its not going to be three months out though like our blokes He'll be out a couple of weeks and then straight back in the side, playing 90 minutes and scoring a hat trick. Unlike our lot - innocuous injury, subbed as a precaution, initial scan, worse than we thought, out for 2 months, increases to 4 months, back in training, get a mystery injury, out for 3 weeks, back in training, in the squad, 20 minute cameo, plays second half, plays full game, plays 6 games, picks up innocuous injury...
January 19, 20242 yr CHELSEA MEDICAL DIRECTOR STEPS DOWN "After less than 18 months on the job as Chelsea’s medical director, Dimitrios Kalogiannidis has reportedly stepped down, informing the club of his decision yesterday. According to The Telegraph, the change had nothing to do with the job itself, but rather DK stepped down “because of family reasons”." https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2024/1/19/24043915/chelsea-medical-director-dimitrios-kalogiannidis-steps-down-due-to-family-reasons-report
January 22, 20242 yr just seen injuries update , nothing seems to have changed again . WTF is happening i've never seen or heard of anything like it . Do the medics have any clue ?

Do the medics have any clue ? Some of the injuries e.g. Reece, Fofana are pretty long term so we can assume they probably won't play again this season. But in the case of e.g. Lavia and Nkunku the updates are lacking in any clarity. Nkunku's issue was described as nothing serious at the time, yet he has missed 2 weeks of training now. Lavia has just disappeared into an unknown state.

I think come May we will still have a full injury list, I expect 11 first teams players injured still in May it’s just beyond ridiculous.

Starting to wonder if Lavia and Nkunku will even have 10 appearances by the end of the season. Nobody seems to actually recover for us. They come back, then they get injured again.
