At the very least fresh legs would help. Had we been trying to hold onto a 1 nil win I would be more understanding but they had already scored and were all over us in the second half. A change had to be made. Whether more subs would have given us the win isn't really the point, it's the lack of effort to attempt something that's worrying. I usually try to defend manager. For example against Everton, I thought Dyche ran a nice scheme to stop us. I don't mind Maresca not making tactical changes, it can't always be the manager, player need to have sense of responsibilitiy and find solution themselves. Now not making sub when your team is tired and squad management is 100% on the manager. Our player were running on fume vs Fulham,

Moving away from the analogy at 1-0 it was pretty clear that we weren't going to hold them and I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I benefited from that foresight financially. Jose would have thrown on Obi One and we could have all put our feet up. Maresca has impressed me, I'm eating a lot of humble pie right now (although I'm reserving a slice or two until he's actually won something) but while he laments the lack of game management from his players, he is actually the first guilty party of that last week. 10 minutes to go, all the traffic going one way, plug the dam midfield, tell the full backs to hold. Leave the wingers up as an outlet and bring Guehi on to run at everything. It shouldn't be hard to understand that it could have been a simple judgement that had been made, that the starting lineup is our best possible option till the final whistle anyway. We had in fact more chances to score and we also did score from an offside position, if anything Maresca could have tried to put in a defender and just hold for 10-15 minutes if he knew that Nkunku wouldn't be able to do what some are suggesting, that the 18 year old Guiu was the best option up front. But you can't blame Maresca for leaving Palmer to play for the full 90' as he is after all our best player that can create something out of nothing so to take Palmer for Nkunku and then Jackson for Guiu is a hindsight 20/20 thing as soon as the match ended the way it did. Looking closely at the second conceded goal, it was going to happen regardless of which winger or which striker would have been on the pitch for us and if we look at the players involved, the assist for the tap-in goal was made by a player that played from start to finish for Fulham and that pass wasn't intercepted by Enzo that was just a second too slow so how come the Fulham player is able to make that run and pass it well while our own player couldn't follow it through? Obviously sometimes bad things just happen, when we won vs Spuds away most subs were made in the late second half and we still conceded a 3rd goal so it's no guarantee that a gameplan will work even if the subs are made. Things could have been done differently but it's just how it is, let's not blame the manager for a loss when he's doing great work to make a team out of a very young set of players.
December 30, 20241 yr sh*te management 3 games in a row. Still far from impressed with him. No improvements defensively, attack has turned straight back into the attack we had under Pochettino, which was overly reliant on Palmer. What has he done that has improved us? I said we were on a tight rope a few weeks back, and I stick by it. We've looked close to falling off at many points but we dragged ourselves to wins from just having superior attacking players on the day, but we're not dominating games and we haven't been all season.

Some of the worst team management I have seen in these last 3 games. Makes barely any and late subs in the Everton games. Does the same against Fulham. Now he's forced to make wholesale changes against Ipswich and not even that works. Play near enough the same damn team every game and make use of your 5 subs to keep the squad fresh goddammit.

Why play Disasi when everyone knows he is not a ball playing defender. Why play Nkuku as striker when he has said Nkuku isnt a striker. The subs were retarded. Why take off Felix and leave that failure named Nkuku on the pitch
December 30, 20241 yr Author Someone please post this clown’s presser. I need someone to question why he played Disasi over Acheampong AGAIN.

You wanted Felix, you got him as a starter, he was sh*te. The same goes for Nkunku or Madueke.
December 30, 20241 yr Not even sure where all the over-the-top praise came from. He matched Pochettino's record for the last half of last season up until tonight, under much better circumstances and a much better squad - big deal! Not saying he can't succeed but the jury is still very much out and thats now three games in a row where the manager himself has cost us now with tinkering and stupidity. 35 points after 19 games would have us in 6th after Gameweek 19 last season. We finished the season in sixth and thats still about our level. He's not been the magician some think he's been. Edited December 30, 20241 yr by OriginalS
December 30, 20241 yr If you choose to play the ones you only deem good enough for the conference league, you get that level of performance. Felix, Nkuku, Disasi, all dreadful. Madueke pretty useless. No-one really did anything positive of note.

Yes, Felix was sh*te, but in games where they all look sh*te, 3 games in a row, you have to look at the manager. Maresca has no plan B, he can't deal with high tempo teams and teams that like to defend. He can't even coach a defence to defend. He's somehow even making Palmer look more and more ineffective. All teams need to do is press us and his game plan falls apart. He wants us to control games Sarri style, but this style of football is complete trash in this league. You will get found out eventually through the intensity of the league alone. Maresca is a bullsh*t artist.

If you're going to be selective on the metrics, even if we lose every single game for the forseeable Poch still doesn't get ahead of Maresca on points in head to head for the best part of two months.

Not long ago we were quite a team, playing with high tempo and scoring loads. Nkunku, Felix, Madueke can f**k off right now, they’re not PL material if they are not ready to match the intensity of Ipswich.
December 30, 20241 yr Massive questions. Squad players are under performing and we’re relying on Palmer too much.

You're always on the mark right before we drop form. Looking back, this run was a long time coming with all the defensive mistakes we have been making. Now that our goals have dried up, there's nothing we can cling onto. Maybe this will finally force the manager to start drilling the team defensively?

December 30, 20241 yr I think the 1st half in the previous 3 games have all been okay, but then the 2nd halves have all been atrocious. Tonight we robbed in the 1st half, and then Disasi really put the game beyond us in the 2nd. Not sure what to make of Maresca, going forward, when we attack down the wings, sometimes I think it is crying out for an overlap, but it's something he utilises too, much. Very difficult to point to any one thing we do well as a team. No glaring weaknesses, but no real mo either.
December 30, 20241 yr Remember what the Leicester fans said about how their season went last year? First half of the season they were a run away freight train. Nobody could cope with them, goals for fun, massive lead at the top. Second half sides figured out how to stop Maresca ball, they struggled to score, dropped points and let a huge lead slip, only just getting to the title which seemed in the bag for so long. Ringing any bells for those who thought CL was in the bag for next season?

Where are the goals outside of Palmer? Jackson has dropped off as well. Madueke turns up once in a blue moon, Neto works hard but doesn’t contribute a lot of goals Sancho scored 3 all season. Bo goals from midfield either.

The last two teams that bean us played 3 CBs so there must be something in that. 3-4-3 seems to stop us completely he needs to figure it out quickly.
