Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*

Featured Replies

I've been critical of Maresca throughout the season, but credit to him for winning the Conference League. We were favourites going into the competition, but we still delivered the goods in the end.

Given we've finished 4th, qualified for Champions League football and won some silverware, I think he deserves a nod of acknowledgement.

Pressure is still on to improve next season, but for the moment I'm going to sit back and enjoy what we've just achieved.

Nicely done Maresca! We were expected to win, and you delivered. It has not always been pretty, but that is a conversation for another day. Today was about results - enjoy!! We've won it all!

That 2nd half showed me that Marescas plan A is utter trash and his main philosophy stifles our attacking players

Clearly not a fan...

Top 4 and Conference League win is what I expected and he's done that.

Can only hope next season things are a bit more fluid as Maresca gets more influence on the squad.

Over the moon with the trophy win.

We needed that one, it's one of those trophies where you don't know if you'll compete for it again. I absolutely hated Benitez for bottling our Club World Cup trophy, it took me ages to get over that, as I didn't know if we would ever get another opportunity. But that's every trophy won that we could possibly win right now.

And winning a trophy for this young team and the club under new ownership (finally) is massive.

It's a difficult one at the moment, because as happy as I am with what we've achieved, I still don't want to watch whatever that first half was next season. And unfortunately, that's the way we are setup.. so i'll say it again again I'll be kidding myself if I think we will improve under Enzo next season.

I'm very interested to see what happens if/when we get the signings we need in, maybe in order to play better football we need that striker, winger and CB. I'm not sold on Maresca long term but I can't take away that he did what was expected of him this season.

What is wrong with Chelsea fans in here, we’ve just won a trophy but u guys still hate on maresca. The guys done his job by winning the competition he has inherited and got ucl. Managers styles aren’t always implemented straight away so u need to give him time. This fan base is so reactionary and I feel for maresca because of this. I’ll admit the football hasn’t been the best thing I’ve ever watched but we have had a good season, I hope fans still give him time. UTC 💙💙

Do you watch the matches or just check the league position at the end of each season?

I am more interested in seeing how we do in the CWC before I pass my judgement on how confident I'll be going into next season. It's impossible to say if he's the guy to take us to the next level. He's still a coach who is learning himself. This is similar to Arteta's (best comparison out there really) first season in charge at Arsenal, except Maresca has exceeded what Arteta did at Arsenal by finishing in the top 4, especially in arguably a tougher premier league where teams have gotten stronger. It didn't really click for Arsenal until Arteta's 3rd season at the club. Next season will definitely be the true test, and we'll know where we/he stands by at least late Dec next season.

This Forest? IMG_3353.jpeg

Yes that Forest. They came 7th and we were away to a top 4 rival (your favourite phrase).

Whatever way you want to spin it, finishing the season 8-2-2 and with a piece of silverware is a solid ending to a season.

Can anyone in the league bar Liverpool or Palace claim a better ending ?

I still can’t work if we’re any good or not?

Good, not great. I'm hoping once we've improved the positions we're lacking in we can get to great. Petrovic, Santos and Estevao coming back will definitely improve us and then the addition of a new CB, LW and striker I'm hoping we end up a bit more direct.

12 points out of the last 15 was very welcome and most unexpected. I had us down for 5 points from those 5 games. A bit lucky Liverpool clinched the title when they did. They didn't win any of their 4 games after they did that. ( LDLD )

I don't think there is too much standing in Estevao's way (assuming he is as good as advertised) but Petrovic vs Sanchez probably isn't enough gain for the likes of Ben Roberts and the SDs, and Santos has Fernandez the golden boy directly in his path, which might prove unsurmountable given how much they plaster Enzo's visage over everything

This is Gusto under Maresca though, who has looked like a clown more often than not this season. Has to be our worst player of the season.

By shoehorning the kid into a role for which he's just not suited, Maresca has tuned a very promising young RB into a shell of what he was.

Palmer basically coming out and saying he was bored of passing sideways and backwards so decided to just go for it, then we scored goals, is pretty damning. Lets see how Maresca takes that.
