Given what has been said by our gusts from Leicester I am wondering if Nkunku and Palmer are players he will get the best out of.

Rodri’s eyebrows have literally disappeared thanks to PEDs and media outlets are talking about salt & pepper. 🤦♂️ Yeah sodium is crucial to prepare for anaerobic activity and to replenish lost sweat. Pepper also helps with inflation. I know the Italians are revolutionary with their sports dietary nutrition, but this seems well over the top.

I think we need to be a bit careful before we judge him on his last stint, Just because he did that at Leicester it doesnt mean he will here with more resources available to him.

Agreed. Not judgement for me just questions based on what limited information we have based on his time at Leicester. You have to imagine it was not just Fernandez he put forward a plan for in these interviews. Palmer, Nkunku, Caicedo, Lavia, Mudryk, Wes Fofana. These are all costly purchases the club will want to see succeed and thrive, not sit on the bench and go for a loss. I really don't think the board would have an issue selling any pure profit player, but they want want most expensive signings to work out.
June 6, 20242 yr Furthermore I would imagine Stewart and Winstanley ideal successful 11 would be: Sanchez Gusto Disasi Badiashile Cucurella Caicedo Lavia Palmer Enzo Mudruk Nkunku 10 of the 11 are their signings

A big bowl of Carbonara - pasta, eggs and an extra yolk, lashings of pecorino romano, and guanciale (pig's cheek fried). Perfect prep for a day on the couch in front of the footy.

Amen, just look at the squad, see what players you have and pick the best formation and way of playing to suit that. Sick of managers coming with a "formation and style" then trying to jam players in to work in it.

That's why I wanted carlo ancelotti's son. The formation and starting 11 should depend on the team you are playing against. I think he wants to come out from his dad's shadow soon. June 7, 20242 yr Didnt really want poch gone, despite some of the horror shows, thought we'd turned a corner but he's gone. Cant say I wanted Maresca, never heard of him before... but, if he can improve Palmer, other players hes coached before, then great. I presume the board think top 4 with this batch of players is a realistic target, hence why poch walked, I think anything less from our new manager than our former manager points tally and league table, ie not getting 4th, should see him executed on the Stamford bridge pitch with the directors. Im sure the fans will let him know exactly what we think of his football after about two months. Simply going to reserve my judgement, hope we look like a runaway train by the end of pre-season. Up the chelsea
June 7, 20242 yr Enzo has a 5 year deal but is probably evaluated quarterly. The deal is probably very much fail safe from the club side. If he fails we only pay for the current season and if we don't reach goals he gets nothing sort of deal. For Maresca this is a good opportunity but also a massive risk being a name on the rise.

Unless you are a small team you don't do this. You make small adjustments depending on how the opp play but in general you play your way. Furthermore being a coach is very different to being an analyst.

Bob, just to confirm, you're stating that the approach adopted by Ancelotti and his son at serial Champions League winners Real Madrid is wrong? It would be alright if they were doing this at a small club like Rayo Vallecano but at a club the size of Real Madrid, this approach is wrong?

Every single team has an analyst analyzing opp in depth including their weaknesses, strengths, build up, etc. Ancelotti is famous of letting his player play in their best position regardless of the opp weakness. Few games that I watched this season, it is better for Vinicius to play middle because that is where he can do more damage but Vinicius doesn't like playing inside, hence ancelotti doesn't force him. The top manager who is known to have different approach is manager is TT who will play different build up or even different attacking pattern depending on the opp. First game two seasons ago, TT asked Mount n kai to play like an out n out winger to stretch the opp. That is probably the best approach, ancelotti won't do this Edited June 7, 20242 yr by Bob stark
June 7, 20242 yr “I learned how to communicate with the leading players and let them take part in my ideas. […] I’ve been on the phone with several players during vacation. I told them about what I want to adapt: more focus on ourselves and less on the opponent. I also asked for feedback from them. […] Maybe I underestimated that face to face conversations are more important for some players than I would have imagined as a coach. The players have to feel that they’re being noticed by the coach” — Julian Nagelsmann. This is what Nagelsmann said after his 1st season with Bayern.

There are several styles of leadership that can work. One way or another the players have to buy in. Coach has to trust players and vice versa. Each different group of players will need something different. Some want more consultation others need more direction. This year for my work I have been reading a lot about getting buyin, reducing negatives is easier than reinforcing positives, who are the opinion leaders in your group, insiders v outsiders. Building group identity. Shared experience, say of losing a final breeding a group ethic to prove the doubters wrong
