Did we all of a sudden forget Gusto will be starting the next 3 matches for us? If he goes to the Olympics he'll miss the start of the season if France go all the way.

Badiashile could also very well be in Maresca's plans.

Depends. If the right side defender is not the one to invert then Gusto may not be used. Could be Fofana/Disasi picked as "rightback".

Gusto was essentially playing as a RCB last preseason.

Aye he was. Nothing to say Enzo wants him for the same role. Perhaps he does, perhaps not. Will see on GameDay 1 as pre season usually teaches us little.

Made us think Jackson was our new Costa last year...

My MAIN worry is Enzo's stubbornness.

Look at the Forrest match for example. Poch recognized that the midfield overload (Cucurella inverted) didn't do us any favors as Forrest had 3 central players and a defensive back 5. He then took off a CB for James so both he and Cucurella hugged the touchlines, and it tore Forrest apart.

Would Enzo make that same change?

Welcome Enzo!  Italians and Chelsea are normally a great fit, so don't screw this up!

Excited this is behind us, and pleased the club is taking a firm stance on international (if true).  Lets get some priorities in order here!

Remains to be seen but most say he is stuck to his way or the highway, like Ange.

in short, No.

He is entirely ideological in his approach. As Leicester manager he even said that if the fans or club weren't happy with his philosophy then he would walk, as his philosophy is the most important thing of all.

His style would have failed in the upcoming season had he remained at Leicester, as we simply didn't / don't have the players required to implement it at a higher level. However, I could see it working at Chelsea. At least in as far as being more competitive than you have in recent seasons.  He did improve a number of our players, or at the very least, allowed them to play in a way which maximised their strengths.

Expect to see lots of passing (an insane amount of passing) looking to draw the opposition into a press and then quickly playing through that press.

You'll have two number 8's that are underlapping the wingers and receiving balls on the move in the box.  He managed to make Ndidi look hugely accomplished at running late into the box and causing chaos, which is something none of us thought he was capable of.

He also likes to allow some freedom of choice in his attacking players, and to get wingers one vs one, so that they can run at the defender and cut inside. Both Mavididi and Fatawu scored bags of goals this season as a result of that.

In general though, his in game management left a lot to be desired and he only ever replaced like to like and the system stayed the same.  Where we really struggled was up against teams that chose not to press.

His style is based on creating overloads in Midfield and the attacking third.  So if teams don't press, then it's difficult to unlock defences as we tended to pass the ball back out to midfield or even the defenders, to try and again encourage a press.   It's not an exciting style of football.  But it is pragmatic and it will likely pick up a healthy number of points for you.

don't expect barnstorming performances that have you all on the edge of your seat. you won't have that at all.  Enzo states that he wants control and calm. he hates chaos, so you are unlikely to see any kind of end to end stuff.

What we did see last year though was lots of goals after 25, 35 or 45 passes. if you like that, great, you'll have loads of systematic build up play and if the end product has some quality, potentially a decent amount of goals as well.

Good Luck for the upcoming season though... I suspect we will be clinging on for dear life to try to avoid relegation.

Unproven manager at this level, no clue if he'll be able to solve our weakness of not being able to breakdown defensive sides. At this level the owners really shouldn't be flipping a coin, hoping for the best. Maybe they've analysed him a lot more than me and they thing he's just the ticket for our mistake prone defence and terrible finishing.

5 year contract is inexplicable too, did he really need that much of a sweetener?
