It's not just Youtube compilations, it's watching him live and highlights videos of individual games.

People really need to stop looking at the stats. It's got us into a position where we sign any mediocre footballer. Stats are misleading.

I'm far from saying he's this hidden gem. Just that it looks like he can provide us another avenue in attack.

I miss the time when football was a  simpler game, when the focus was on things that mattered. Now it's full of a load of useless stats most of which are invented to jack up player values. People are trying to make football into baseball with all these ridiculous stats. Comparing Lewandowski with Jackson is more of a joke than an actual comparison because if offered a choice, all of us would prefer the 21/22 Lewandowski over Jackson inspite of the similar looking stats. What matters is quality and stats like these cannot quantify the quality of the players.

I would say the stat based recruitment is trying to over simplify transfers over old school scouting.

Also there is a lot of showing/comparing stats to prove which ever point they’re trying to make.  Hiding the ones that don’t fit.  Being selective over the stats shown is as bad as the selective clips shown on a YouTube compilation.

Well i know he isn't what people wanted name wise but he's pretty highly rated and he gives us an option up top. I'd suggest that he gets given a chance rather than writing him off because some chronically online fan account made a video of him looking sh*t.

Not sure I see the logic in this signing. On the face of it he is the complete opposite of a fit in Maresca's new system. Even Broja is probably a better suited to the style of play we are trying to implement.

I think he is only worth signing at that price if the Directors feel confident that he is ready to go into the first team this season and lead the line. We already have too many players that are being bought just to be sent off on loan. we need players that can make an immediate impact on our team.

It's not like there is that one example. I've watched this guy a few times for Atletico and he's always look really poor. 

The only reason why we are signing him at all is so Atletico could generate the funds for Gallagher and Alvarez.

For the money (£30-40m), he’s not a signing that we can really make money on so you assume that we’re buying him to actually play him.

Broja we can sell for pure profit as he is an Academy product.  But if we merely needed a squad back up for NJ then Broja would be as good as - IF not better than - Samu. imho

Haha I actually like Jackson.  Think he’s definitely got potential.  If he can improve his composure in front of goal he could be a great striker.  While I believe you’re born a natural finisher and Jackson isn’t that he can improve if given the opportunity.  Watkins is a great example of a player that has improved in front of goal over the last few seasons.

Yes, you're right, that is what I meant. Typing and posting too fast.

Apparently there are other clubs after him, but nobody put up a real bid until we put 35M in, talk about beating the competitions at a closed auction 😎 He's a shining example of what the owners want to achieve at Chelsea. Buy a young player on the cheap, send out on loan for a season , some some big spenders come in paying an obscene amount , big profits without doing anything apart from sign a couple of checks

My obvious bias aside, I genuinely have no idea how anyone can rate Jackson.

Did you guys actually watch him? He is useless.

40 mill ain't cheap for 99% clubs around Europe. Add to that the management's new found fetish of selling players outside the PL. What we end up with are 3-4 customer clubs(Barca, Real, PSG, Bayern) willing to pay more than this to buy players.
