Quit while you're behind. The Jacko thread is calling you.

The irony is that in Liverpool he drives a Tesla....don't need a late night/early morning, high speed blow out to turn that into a fireball.

Yeah I know - sorry. Limited filter.

No less true though....Fireballs don't regularly happen to little old ladies driving sensibly. An outpouring of grief and condolences for a person who very probably acted (or enabled) recklessly always sits a little awkwardly. It's not about being heartless - it's tragic whenever someone dies young — but context matters. High-speed crashes at half past midnight in a supercar aren’t freak occurrences; they’re predictable risks. We can feel sympathy without pretending there’s no responsibility in the mix.

I know mate, but as much as we all might be thinking it, now's probably not the time to say it.

Thankfully these sort of instances are very rare, but as @abigsmurf said in the thread, young(ish) footballers in high performance cars probably does need looking at before there's a danger of it becomming more common place. West Ham's Antonio had a very luck escape and is probably thinking but for the Grace of God..................

But the road is renowned for being an area of 'irresponsible driving', totting up nearly 15,000 speeding fines in 2020, it was reported in La Opinion de Zamora.

Four years ago, a campaign was launched to help control the speeding issue and bring awareness to the zones where people speed or there are frequent accidents.

I drive that road up and down multiple times a year and it isn't a very dangerous one. Tyre bursts can happen at any speed and whether at 120km/h (the speed limit) or at 200km/h, it is a dangerous thing to happen. We don't know at what speed they were going so it's best not to speculate. In any case, showing empathy to a couple of young men dying should not be dependant on their driving, should it?

Don't apologise for having a limited (I would say faulty) filter and in the next paragraph cheerily continue in the same vein. We're all adults who can think this for ourselves.

Awful news, a family has lost 2 children, brothers, fathers, uncles etc at a terribly young age.

RIP Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.

Awful for a family to have to bury two sons together, and a wife of just 11 days is now a widow bringing up 3 children on her own. So tragic ... so many changed lives ...

Commiserations to the respective families and friends.

Horrific for his widow, his children, Liverpool, and for football in general.

He was a talented poacher, was also pretty good aerially.

Shows that you can never take your life, or other people's lives for granted, including those of your loved ones.

His brother dying makes this twice as tragic.

RIP.

Very sad for his Widow and young children he leaves behind....

....Probably should have rented a sensible family saloon instead of a raring around overtaking in a Lambo....

You just can't help yourself can you mate.?

Even when young men die you've got something inappropriate to say

He's an utter cnut .

I'm happy to take a ban for this comment

Out of order. I think calling him irresponsible is one thing - but calling him a c**t is too far - and by all accounts, people said he was a lovely chap.

You haven't got a clue what happened yet here you are conducting your own accident investigation..

Two young men have died in an horrific accident, you couldn't just offer sympathy without apportioning blame to the dead and making comments about the car they should have hired in earlier posts

Mate, couldn't you actually act with a bit of dignity on this matter ?

I dont have any skin in this game - he was not a friend or relative of mine, and other than the tragedy of a young family losing their husband and dad, which of course is always terrible, I really don't have any feeling other than remorse at yet another overpaid young man losing his (their) life needlessly.

The reality is that young men - regularly footballers - are getting into trouble by their bad decision making. That is a crying shame and I hope it never happens to our own players. I would hope the club put some clauses in their contracts to forbid them from driving cars that they are rarely (genuinely) able to handle.

But you are absolutely correct - I don't know what actually happened, and it is absolutely possible that they were popping out for a bottle of milk at 00:30 and were pottering around at a mere 30km per hour. Time and investigation will tell. Sorry you are so affected by this that you took offense to my comment about the choice of hire car. One mans "inappropriate" comment is another "life saving advice"
