Just got to hope VVD, Alisson and Salah will start to slow down soon. Salah seemed to slow down with only 3G/A in his last 9 PL games. Whether that was Slot being found out or players taking the foot off the gas, we don't know. They also flopped in every cup competition they were in. It comes down to what financial constraint that they have. Arse has been in cl and contending for pl for quite sometime now and with the signing of rice, Havertz their salary is no longer as low as before.

He has. Curious Pep decision. Trafford has strengths but ball at his feet isn't one of them. Burnley rarely if ever played out from the back under Parker. They did under Kompany and it was a disaster. Shall watch with interest.

If so, Pep has been at it for a while. Kalvin Phillips? Never a fit for Pep's game. Ditto Grealish. Take a player whose strengths were playing off the cuff and invention and drill them out of him.

Yep Newcastle's remoteness must put off a lot of players, you think they would put a lot into youth to try and develop young talent from the area and I see in the past a few may come through that way.

I am not sure it is bloated. They used to pay less but as you win more and you want to retain your player, you will have to pay more.

No doubt the figures have been arrived at using some sort of publication but I simply can’t reconcile some of these numbers.

For instance if these are 23/24 numbers Chelsea’s total wage bill, and that would include all employees , players and coaching staff etc in total came to £296.5 million. Not £338 million.

I get your point re Arsenal it’s extremely interesting how their wage bill is getting bigger, significantly year on year. It will depend how their income streams have grown because they are by my guesstimate getting close to the 70% squad cost.

One little fact for you is that Oxlaide Chamberlain is still their highest ever fee received when he went to Liverpool and he generated just slightly not that more than Hall did when we sold him to Newcastle
