Rinse and repeat. He will never change. Waste of space. Im sure he could be sold/loaned out in January or the summer. Burnley Leeds or West Ham might suit. He was given a chance to step up from Ipswich and he has failed, big time. This wasnt a moment of madness he does this in almost every game.Think you're writing him off well too early.I heard many a pundit in the past think he could be the next Shearer and I warmed to that idea. Admittedly, we haven't seen much to substantiate that since he signed for us and he does need to step up big-time, but I do think he has the potential (THAT word again), to be a real asset. Shearer had a nasty edge to his game although also had a brain so didn't pick up silly red cards like last nights one and let's not forget, Delap is only just returning from injury so is bound to be rusty. So I'm still positive but last night was definitely one to forget.

He can be a good plan B st.Like i said in Maresca thread, if I want to be critical of our signing in term of how they will help us to go to the next level, I will laugh at every single one of them. But I want to be realistic, our board plan is very different. Be competitive and don't pay too much wages (if you look at it from this context, he is good)Are you a fan or on the board? Why would you look at it in any way other than through the fans eyes?

Its a mindset not something that is likely to change. He could be party to losing us games, he is a risk. Hes not showing signs of being an asset. Hes not a tough guy, defenders see him for what he is and wind him up accordingly. Hes a mug. It would be great if he re invented himself into a savvy clinical finisher. How long do we wait?
October 30, 2025Oct 30 As a backup to Jackson with Pedro and Guiu as alternatives, Delap for that money would have been a perfectly fine signing. In the likely event that he's not top-notch we probably get more than that back when we sell him on. As the only actual striker in the squad other than a 19-year-old with about 500 senior career minutes... not so good. Another case of elite squad planning from the brain trust.

From this perspective, Delap is fine.If you want Delap to be the player who will be improvement over Jackson then he is not fine, in fact you won't even look at Delap.Think that;s a little harsh. He isnt a Jackson type striker. He is a target man who will bring others into/ stretch play/ lead a line. The crosses George and Gittens have been whipping across the box recently should be fodder for him. We need more headed goals from corsses as it'll give defenders more to think about. Again, I look at Jackson and think he was scoring when we played poch ball until xmas, since we dropped that, we have become pretty stagnent in attacking areas of the pitch and Jackson went on to get frustrated and see red... Is there a frustration behind the scenes with the group? Mistakes/ Miscontrolled aggression happen in young players, but the number of them we're getting could also suggests something else. Im actually a fan of Delap in what he brings to the side, we're yet to see the best of it and him. I definitely think Maresca needs him to play his system, and this is my biggest concern, Im not sure what Maresca's system is yet. Thought we saw the first of an identity in the Liverpool win but the Sunderland loss was a massive setback imo. Unless Maresca can unlock the attacking force in the players he has, wont matter who we bring to the club, they'll struggle in his system.
October 30, 2025Oct 30 Some absurd overreactions on here ffs. He’s a young lad who’s got a big move, been sidelined by injury and was clearly frustrated.I’m happy to finally have a striker in the side that can put himself about a bit.Last night was silly but it’s a return from injury frustration type card.Give the lad sometime and ANY comparisons to that braindead donkey we offloaded in the summer is borderline libel and has no place on a public forum.

October 30, 2025Oct 30 Stupid twat hope he learns from this if he doesn’t then he should go the way of Jackson
October 30, 2025Oct 30 The squad is crying out for someone to play the striker role successfully.Guiu isnt good enough, yet and there seems to be discord with him and Maresca.George was to be sold, and is playing out of position.JPedro had a purple patch but isnt a 9 and as such plays out of position.Jackson has gone. All the youth players arent deemed good enough or ready. Mhweuka and co.The incoming players like Emegha and Satpaev arent in the building yet.....Enter Liam Delap what an opportunity, oh dear. All is not lost he could redeem himself midweek v Qarabag ( if hes banned for Spurs) with goals a plenty and a fresh approach and no bookings🙂 Edited October 30, 2025Oct 30 by OTL

Most supporters realise very well the kids are inconsistent and have a lot to learn and we need to be patient. However, if a player who has had a couple of seasons in a senior league can't contain himself, doesn't recognise that petty aggression is to be avoided when already on a yellow, then he is brainless. Especially when knows he has to fight for his spot after being out for months AND having form being suspended for picking up too many bookings. This is not being fine.

October 30, 2025Oct 30 If you still complain about Delap, gittens, Chalobah, dumb n dumber then I can't help you. Our best winger this season is 18 years old straight from Brazil and 2 seasons again our best player is basically a fresh graduate from city's academy. It is literally impossible for this to happen to any club who is serious at competing. But we all know we are no longer that club. As I said in gittens vs Eze, you can have a debate which player is better but from spreadsheet pov, it is not even close. Eze will cost you at least double of what gittens will cost you and this is what matter for our owner.

In this he plays his part in the indiscipline of the squad, although he might do fine in @PhilH930 's Suspension Room on his own.

Palmer Caicedo and hopefully Estevao, get passes. 2 or 3 half decent prospects that are made of biscuits and the rest, bang average players the signing of which makes no sporting sense whatsoever. I watched that Omari Kellyman the other night against Wrexham. He was bright for the level he was playing at. But he looks no better than any one of a countless number of wide playing kids that have passed through our academy system, never to make it into the first team. At the time we signed him we probably had three lads, exactly the same, within the club that we were ready to release.

October 30, 2025Oct 30 Personally was happy with the acquisition of Delap at the time but was kind of maybe stupidly expecting that he would be supplementing the squad with another more experienced recognised striker to give us options up front. No idea what he was doing last night, I get that he's young but seriously Liam have a word with yourself, not rocket science. Was trying find a way of describing his little "cameo" and kind of took me back to my childhood days and a game I used to have (which some of you if like me in your 60's might remember) ....... called "Battling Tops"You used to pull the string to propel your top into the playing arena/surface and for the next few minutes your piece would cavort randomly around the playing area smashing into as many other pieces as possible until last piece standing wins.Just a really bizarre night from the moment he came on.
October 30, 2025Oct 30 I watched the replay again, and he was lucky it was a second yellow and not a straight red. He's properly elbowed the Wolves player in the face.

Let that sink in. He plays for Bayern Munich. In the Bundesliga. "Bundesliga" translated from the German, actually means "League of one team".Che Adams would score goals in those circumstances. It's like being given repeated free swings and still missing with a huge banjo aiming at a giant cow's arse that has already been shot and is laying dead on the grass.
