Alejandro Garnacho

Exactly what would have happened a decade or so ago, some young player acting the prick would soon be slapped into place by the senior lads. Unfortunately we dont actually have many of those senior players now, maybe we should get Essien back to just stare at anyone kicking off, that would scare the crap out of anyone.

Isn’t John Terry still around in some capacity…🤔

If its even possible, try to imagine a more punchable face than Garnacho's. That is his little brother.

I was going to say I want to grab them both by the hair and smash their faces together like a pair of cymbals, but I think someone might have already got in there first !

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he sings his song in the dressing room. He should get plenty of stick if he doesn't sing up.

Maybe he could sing "Don't cry for me Man Utd".

I think it'll have a bit more bite than karaoke.

Got to be honest, it's a bit odd seeing so many grown adults getting rattled by what a 16 year old says.

Did anybody have any of our signings on their list of potentials or players we’d like to sign?

This usually tells us how successful our transfer window was?

Better still have we even strengthened the positions/areas we thought needed it, I.e a GK and some experience?

I think we actually have a younger squad? Guehi has been available on the cheap all summer?? An ex Cobham boy ready to go, position sorted for the next 5-7 yrs yet we sign a 19yr old who is so un ready we have to use one of our own 19yr olds from the academy in front of him when Colwill gets injured.

Tomorrow never comes.

Alejandro is on the outside left.

Maresca will have him inverting from left back diagonally right inside outside forward first game.

Please can we stop with the negativity, this is a Chelsea player and we’re all Chelsea supporters here.

We should get behind him and hope he reaches his Generational potential on our way back to where we belong!

Generational potential suggests a generational talent and Havertz was lumbered with that tag.

Just hope he doesnt believe his own hype and steps up his performances and becomes a consistent top performing player for us. Christ we need him to. Alongside everyone else.

Him, Enzo and Bounanotte have no intentional duty this break so I expect both enzos to make those two feel welcome and prepare them for Brentford.

I am ready to be dazzled, let's see if Garncaho is worth the effort our directors put in to recruit him.

Aside from stupid YouTube video titles of crappy compilations (conveniently / hilariously cutting out the final ball), I actually searched ‘generational talent’ & garnacho’s name, and only guy of note to say it was some stats guy who sometimes gets TV work apparently, and is a…. You guessed it, Man-utd fan.

I'll hold my hand up and admit that when Garnacho burst on to the scene as an 18 year old, I genuinely thought Man United had unearthed a proper talent. Obviously his career has never lived up to that moment and is likely to plateau rather than reach some imagined potential but I also can't help but be amused that the biggest criticism he receives is about his alleged attitude.

So many great players have had the same criticisms levelled at them at the same age or even later, and I often wonder if they are based on a need to find a flaw with someone rather than any reasonable basis. Ibrahimovic, Benzema, Sneijder, van Persie...closer to home, Rudiger, Drogba and Terry were openly accused of plotting against managers. Not every player is an Azpilicueta or Thiago Silva or Luka Modric.

My main concern is as @dkw pointed out, that traditionally you could rely on someone to put these players into their place. We don't have that at any level of the club.

I wonder if the manager has any say what so ever.

It’s often been said Arteta didn’t want certain players in his dressing room. Senior players who might question his methods. I wonder if Enzo finds young players easier to manage.

Surely as an ex player you’d want experience on the pitch, you would know the benefit established players can have during the game and on the training ground. The help they can give to young players whether that be support and encouragement or a bollocking when needed.

Yes, we should get behind the player. Garnacho does seem like a scandal waiting to happen, but he is a new signing and he is talented player. A Chelsea player and we are fans of Chelsea. And so on. So we should support Garnacho.

Not the best player examples. lol. Benzema found guilty of having sex with underage girls and was also found guilty of trying to blackmail a teammate with a sex tape.

I wanted this signing from the get-go. He's shown enough work rate and teamwork to warrant a chance, esp at the price point and considering his age. No, we don't know what his ceiling is, but we will have a good idea now because he will have much better players around him. He's already an improvement over Mudryk -- Garnacho is just far more competitive.
IMO, we are a few signings from silverware still, so anything we do atm is still long'ish term.

Concerning his attitude, we should prob start by telling him to drop his f**king phone during the match; he should be paying attention to the match (for a number of obvious reasons).

i also welcome this signing, i have a hunch he will do a good/ great job for us. Hes a rascal but who really cares if he delivers on the pitch.

I remember thinking last season he was the only one for United who could make something happen out of nothing. I don't understand why Amorim didn't play him in the final against Spurs. Attitude or not, he could have been the difference.

I know we all complain about Enzo, but man a lot of other managers are being incredibly obtuse elsewhere too. Amorim, Arteta (uber defensive in big games, as seen on Sunday), Pep (shocker of a season per his standards), Ange last season (although he changed tactics to win Europa). Hard to criticise Slot after winning the PL.

I get the feeling we as Chelsea fans fixate on what is not working at our club, when in reality most other clubs have similar issues. At least we can say we're on the up.

Spot on with everything you said.

Also that final is when Garnacho truly went full villain mode on United. Mount was a headless chicken out there and played over him in his position.

Happy to take the flaws when they’re world class. It almost becomes a non-issue.

Garnacho’s attitude problems just get magnified due to the fact he’s bang average, and in a lot of cases for United, detrimental, as his final ball, attempted shots end up wasting any decent bits of play.
