That ball to George on the counter attack, my god I’ve really missed that football. Takes me back to Robben & Duff days.

Can we play on the counter attack again please?

One reason why I would take Ancelotti back is because he would have us taking advantage of these situations. Not just on the counter either, he loves to quickly move the ball forward and create chances. He won't have us have most possession in every game, but our attackers would be a lot more threatening.

Honestly when did everyone become so convinced no matter what, that playing out from the back was more important than anything.

Management at the moment is absolutely in the gutter.

Research backed up the theory that by a keeper kicking long a team would lose possession too much leading to attacks. A percentage of these attacks resulted in goals. More goals than keeping possession and sometimes gifting the opposition an easy goal by trying to play out from the back.

The stats didn’t take into account having such poor keepers as Jorgensen and Sanchez.

Never in doubt from the get go / KO 😂 once Nukuku planted his down real low and got it in the result was never in doubt

Palmer looks like he's over thinking it now, as opposed to his glorious casualness bagging the 14 EPL goals to date.

The conversation regarding the best managers in the modern game centres around Ferguson, Jose, and Pep. Certainly in England.

I’d have Carlo above all three.

Ferguson and Jose ruled with fear. Pep is all about sticking to the system but Ancelotti’s team are always adaptable and the players love him wherever he’s been. He also wins.

I can’t see him taking on another major club role. Still think he’ll end up managing Brazil.

It will be interesting to see if this marks a turning point or we revert to back how we were.

Sometimes a win even against lower opposition can bring back the feel-good feeling I hope so though we all know we cannot be complacent as we have been too unpredictable this season.

We've been sh*t, Southampton have been even more sh*t.

Still a good win, the players needed it, we all needed it.

The question is are the players and manager able to build on it. Let's hope so.

I think this is fair comment. Perhaps ignore the performance and take the result. Three more of these and hopefully we can get a bit of forward momentum going into Arsenal.

Getting Ramsdale wouldnt be the worst idea in the world, just need to find a way to shift another half dozens GKs.

A win is a win, even against the worst in the league, do it again and we looked healthy in top 4 chase again. 😅 But with all due respect, this Southampton team is probably one of the worst in EPL history.

And that is just how bad Southampton are, how can you fail to score against us? Even Astana did lol.

Agreed. We fell well short again to tonight. A huge disappointment. A few weeks ago Tottenham stuck 5 past them without reply at St.Marys.

Tottenham!!!!

Tottenham!!!!

I say this in complete seriousness.

Carlos title winners put double figures past this saints team .

Anything other than a win tonight would have been unacceptable. At least we boosted our goal difference.

Can't say that this is a turning point yet, but hopefully it's the start of finishing the season on a high.

There were a few moments in the 2nd half when we were tippy-tappy'ing it about in front of our goal and trying to help them, when I thought they might!

Can't recall another PL season where it was this tight in the top half .... 3rd to 10th is only 5 points

To think we'd probably sat a healthy 2nd or 3rd had we not blown up over the Xmas fixtures, let alone the games after...all were winnable games and we sh*t a brick.

They’re not bad, they’ve generously given us half of our goal difference this season. In my books that’s great 😀

I don't understand why you want Ance. The moment our result goes bad, he will get abused by fans who will say he is a dinosaur, doesn't understand tactic, can't coach. There will be article, video explaining our team bad structure, bad spacing.

Agreed. This has been a ‘crazy season’ regarding the top half of the table.
