Ironically, we are 3rd in big chances converted this season without Jackson.

A big reason why we aren't bottom half right now.

That stat ? Could it mean we have created very few chances, but have converted most of them ? Or something else ? Genuine question Sconnie.

EDIT.. hi Sconnie....just looked and you're correct, we are third for big chances converted into goals !

BUT ... Burnley are actually 1st , and Arsenal are 9th . . . and there are others who've created more thus. Good to see we're a top 4 team though !

4th in Big Chances created and 3rd in Big Chances put away. Us being this clinical is unheard of.

That being said, this isn't relative to our current league positions. Which gives the insight we aren't putting away chances when they actually matter.

I dont think hes coming back but he has scored 12-14 goals per season over a couple of seasons. I dont see anyone getting near that anytime soon. Of course we have had injuries and players playing out of position etc etc but we could do with those goals just now.

Since the start of the season I have been waiting for CWC Pedro to show up... and he has remained quite poor, and we have had to carry him.

Is telling he is the ownly player Maresca hooked due to performance rather than circumstance liked he did with Estevao.

Not good enough.

Yeah easily our worst player on the pitch yesterday, however he has credit in the bank from those CWC performances so we know he can do it.

There’s a chance he becomes Nkunku though, not a striker and we don’t use a traditional 10…. Player without a position.

I think he's at his best with his back to goal, with runners behind. Weirdly his hold up play is really good and I think that's why he is played as a centreforward, which isn't where he would like to be.

We know what he's capable of and hopefully he starts to get regular goals.

Does he remain in the side when Palmer is back and fit and in the 10?

I think Maresca will revert to what we did in the CWC where JP plays CF and Palmer slots into the 10 role and end the game with Delap or Guiu.

I think that will suit JP because it would give him someone to interchange with in those forward areas similar to the way they did in the PSG game. Currently with Enzo in the 10 CB's can afford to follow JP when he drops but with Palmer around to exploit those areas it will most likely give JP a little more breathing space.

Enzo play as 10 against PSG

Yes you are right; but that was because as Maresca alluded to in his pre-match conference yesterday that we lack physicality in the middle against the big teams. That is why he sticks James in the middle with Caicedo in those games.

He will move Enzo back in the middle next to Caicedo until the Newcastle game when he will have a dilemma.

That is not exactly the reason. The standard way for team to defend is in 442 shape (diamond/not diamond).

If one of the "winger" is estevao or Palmer and you want them to mark/defend cb rather than dropping deep to defend. So you want the 10 to drop deeper and defend more like midfielder.

I was always wary about signing Pedro. I've seen him brilliant moments in a Brighton shirt, but it's always fleeting, it never lasts and it's happening again with us.

We were desperate for a striker in the summer, but we went and got the Nepo baby who doesn't have any real talent and Pedro who thinks he has made it after one or two career highlights. I can't believe those two clowns "sporting directors" are allowed to stay at this club after the money they have wasted. They're stealing a living.

He’s quickly reaching Nkunku levels of disinterest. Shouldn’t be playing any time soon but Maresca will play him ahead of Guiu.

Yup I put forward he was just another nkunku square peg for us and he is proving it.

Not a striker, not a 10, not a winger, just a northing player.

When he arrived he played on instinct - it all seemed so natural. He looks heavily coached now and confused by what he needs to do and how to impact the game. Hope he can turn it around and remind us the levels he once showed.

JP scored 2 goals from 3 shots in CWC. It is impossible for even Haaland to do this.

Is he even a striker? Seem to fit that Felix/Nkunku role of not being a striker and not being an attacking mid but somewhere in between that doesn't really fit the squad.

Stuck with another square peg we overpaid for.
